We booked through Hotels.com and upon arrival realized we had been booked in a handicap room with a very sad shower. As we went to check on a reservation for later they ask about our room and ask if we would like to switch rooms. We said that would be great. We were charged $33 more for a much..much smaller room. We had to turn sideways to pass in the hall between the coffee pot and the bathroom. We were not happy as they were not full.

We were in awe when we first pulled up. The front desk personnel were so nice. The room was cozy and clean.
We were not a fan of the creaky hardwood floors, but not a deal breaker.
But you must climb the spiral staircase and go out on the observatory. Breath taking☺️

We love staying here! The rooms are a nice size, check in is easy, and we love that it’s dog friendly. It’s the perfect spot to spend a little Staunton getaway! The pillows aren’t my favorite-a little small and soft, but everything else is great. They still give you a little lotion, shower cap and q tips in the bathroom which is nice, and the bathrooms are big and bright. We’ve stayed here twice and we’ll be back!

Had to walk one flight of stairs carrying a suitcase to get to my room.

I stayed at the Blackburn Inn for three nights. Everything was excellent. The staff were all incredibly friendly, and the property is beautiful. I can’t wait to come back.

When we pulled into the entrance gate and I saw the magnificent view of the main building, we were blown away! The grounds and building are wonderfully maintain. The history drew me here but the sheer beauty and how they’ve retained it, leaving so much of the original structure, is such an accomplishment.

The hotel is very nice, but the main entrance doesn’t show up on Google Maps.
It’s a bit old place very close to downtown Staunton.
Btw - we went for the least expensive room. Since it was on the first floor, the view was of the air conditioners. I wish I had known the location (including no above grade windows) since I would have gladly paid a little more to have more light in our room.

We loved our time at the Blackburn on a family girls trip. Hotel has lots of history and wonderful, newly updated rooms. Staff was very accommodating and breakfast delicious.

The staff were wonderful. Travis was always super helpful and very enjoyable to talk to.

The property was historically interesting, but still has a bit of an “institutional” feel about it. The reason for the average rating mostly comes from the fact that it was challenging for me to manage bringing in the necessary bags and equipment that support my husband’s needs as a stroke survivor. I did use the bellman’s cart, which helped, but then it was difficult getting into the elevator and manage pushing the cart, then helping him to enter with his walker. When I had called to be sure that there was a restaurant on sight I was told yes, so it was a disappointment to find out that it is only open for dinners on the weekends. The young lady who prepared breakfast was most helpful, and even offered to carry my husband’s breakfast to our room, as I had my hands full. I greatly appreciated her help.

A historic building with a lot of stories to tell! Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Room was comfortable. A good place to home base from while exploring Staunton.

The front entrance to the hotel is confusing - my GPS didn't bring me in the road in front of the property so it took me awhile to find where to check in. There was no designated parking for check in and two sets of steps to walk up so not handicapped accessible that I could see. Same for parking by the hotel. It's not far but there were no ramps, only steps and a small one way road that I guess you could pull up and unload your suitcases but it would block the road completely. I had two rolling suitcases and other equipment and it wasn't easy to unload without making two trips.

We booked a queen bed for our anniversary. Turned out it was a full bed instead. It was so small and my boyfriend had to sleep in the floor because it was so uncomfortable. We left at 430 am on the second night because we couldn’t take it anymore.

Whenever I am in town I stay in a soaker tub room. This is my spa while on vacation.

The Blackburn Inn is absolutely fabulous. From the staff to the rooms. I would highly recommend staying here!! We were able to park our car and walk all over Staunton with ease. The ladies at the desk were very helpful directing my husband and I to several options for dinner. We could not be happier. Thank you Blackburn Inn for a wonderful stay!! We will be back!

Incredibly friendly and competent staff. Charming space close to the cute downtown. Incredible value.

They have kept much of the 19th century qualities of the property and added modern conveniences.

This property is gorgeous! The room was expansive with a few different sections. My only recommendation is to read the history of the property before you book. If you are sensitivity to “energies” you may find this a challenging place to catch a good night’s sleep.

We enjoy the Blackburn when we end up on the second floor. This trip we ended up on the first floor in a very tiny room. The bathroom smelled bad and the walls had runs. I'm not sure if there was mold but I left with a horrible headache that took over a day to recover from. They also had a bad habit of not putting out stirs for coffee and do not offer any non dairy options at the coffee shop or or dinner so we go out. The staff is amazing and like I said second floor is way better than the first.

This is such a historic property, and the renovation is so good, that it is a fascinating place to stay.

Room was large and clean. Tub was great. Very nice hotel and property. Would definitely stay here again.

The history of this property makes it quite unique. There’s a beautiful spiral staircase that you can walk to the roof and see a view of the city.
The signage for registration shows to enter up quite a few stairs to the inn. What would be helpful is better signage to direct you to an easier area where to unload your luggage when registration.

We arrived at 2pm and told our room wasn't ready, but if we wanted to pay an additional $50 it could be ready. I mean really!?! Then, our room smelled of stale cigarette smoke and we were told sorry but all other rooms were full and they weren't aware of the smell but they had the ozone cleaner in there a few days before. The fact that they had an ozone machine in there is proof that they knew the room had a smell! There was nothing done to help the problem and now everything we brought in the room smells of stale smoke. We were not pleased at all.

Exterior and staircase appealing. Rooms small but ok. Staff not accommodating or very friendly. Check in lady said our room was not cleaned the 2nd day because we didn't see the sign on desk to request cleaning room.

Interaction with staff was excellent, room was great. Hotel was charming and full of character.
