La Rosa de Ortega is the absolute hands down, best resort in the Havana area. I call it a resort because that's the feel that it gives you. Julia and her staff are incredible. Everyone is polite. Their customer service is incredible and it's the closest thing that you will find (in the country of Cuba) to a resort style feel with all of the associated culture and experience that you'd desire coming to Havana, Cuba.
5 out of 6 visits. I have stayed here and have experienced a different room each time with the penthouse having been booked twice. If you want a little more seclusion, Ask for room number 9.
It's also one of the few locations that has a pool to sit by, relax and enjoy. There's a restaurant that's open from 7am Until 11pm daily for each and every meal after breakfast; Since that's included with your stay.
But let's take it one step further.
A big thing that separates this location Apart from others, is the true Cuban experience afforded through a fantastic tour guide and available transportation. All booked thru La Rosa!
I can never stay anywhere else other than here whenever I come. It is truly the best place in La Habana.

Loved the pool - the rooms - excellent service from the staff - would come back any time

This was such a cool place to stay! After two weeks in Varadero, we spent one night here before flying out of Havana. Upon arrival the staff was super friendly and helpful, they took all our luggage to our room while we had a complimentary welcome drink at the bar downstairs. They also arranged our taxi for the airport and our taxi for a tour of downtown Havana.
The little bar and cafe on site was fantastic. Great food, great drinks, and great service.
I had the chicken tacos, which were huge and super fresh tasting. My wife had the shrimp in garlic oil, came out still boiling hot and delicious. My son had a Cuban sandwich which looked amazing, and we ordered a ham and cheese sandwich for the little one to pull apart and a bread appetizer. All that plus 6 or 7 very good drinks for under $60
We had a baby and a stroller with us, which doesn't do well with all the stairs there, but anytime I needed to move the stroller, there was always someone running to help me.
My only complaint is we didn't have enough time here. Would have loved to try the breakfast or take a dip in the pool. Would absolutely go back!

I did not receive the room I reserved, and at first the man at the reception said I don't have a reservation with them even though I had messaged several times with someone from the hotel through Hotels.com. Was a very uncomfortable check-in experience as I had to insist and show repeatedly the reservation confirmation before getting a room.
Otherwise the place is beautiful and room was clean.

Our stay was nothing short of AMAZING! From the beginning to end, Julia the owner/manager was very helpful. The cab was at the airport immediately upon arrival. The front desk staff was very accommodating, the bar and restaurant staff was beyond amazing, the housekeeping staff was nice, the free massage was excellent, the free breakfast was delicious EVERYDAY! Angela, Hanoy, and Yoda, the staff, made us feel so loved! Felt like home! The ambiance was everything! The room and view was beautiful! My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay for the first time in Cuba! We made a new family there and will definitely be visiting again. I would definitely recommend 20/20!

We were welcomed by Julia, the owner right at arrival. After being escorted to our room, the receptionist Laeca welcomed us as well and gave us the Wi-Fi password. She also showed us where the pool and restaurant is and the hours it was open.
The property is lovely. With plants greenery and a huge mango tree outside our window. It was wonderful to have access to a pool as well. There were a lot of barking dogs in the neighborhood but that's Cuba. There was the odd rooster crowing as well which was charming.
We arrived from another location in Havana, with stomach issues.Laeca made sure we were well cared for with ginger tea and checked periodically on our well being. The restaurant staff were friendly and accommodating, serving us on the terrace and in our room when needed.
Julia checked with us often and ordered bananas for us when I asked where I could get them.
We couldn't have asked for better attentiveness from everyone!
A taxi was ordered for us for our trip to the airport.
I highly recommend a stay there for a taste of Cuban life in a comfortable, friendly accommodation.

Large room with safe, air con and en suite bathroom. Extremely helpful staff. Breakfast was very good. Nice quiet hotel with great views of the city. Perfect for when you land in Cuba and need some time to adjust to the heat and to decompress.

La Rose de Ortega is an oasis of tranquility after the heat and pace of Havana. The reception staff Leza and Claudia are exceptional and so helpful. The hotel is beautifully furnished with artefacts from the past - plus the room, pool and restaurant are very comfortable. The food and service are very good - the best locally.

We loved our stay. It was nice to stay somewhere quieter after travelling around Cuba for a couple of weeks. All the different areas in the garden mean guests can spread out and relax in a peaceful place. From our bathroom we could see the Capitolio and Havana’s skyline which was a nice way to end it our stay. The food and drinks were amazing. All the staff who worked there were friendly and very helpful.

Stayed here for about two weeks while in Cuba and enjoyed my stay. Great staff, kind, friendly, and helpful. The restaurant was great. Could literally smell how good the food was from our rooms. Would definitely recommend. 100/100

I liked everything about this hotel but what was stolen my heart was the attention by the staff and its owners. They made us feel part of their family so much that we are already planning to return soon. You can see images of our stay at the hotel on my Youtube channel Chris A Tu Lado

One of the most unique and special
Places I have stayed when traveling.
The staff is great!! The food is amazing and the uniqueness of it makes you want to just stay in and chill by the pool or patio.
Silvia and Julio, the couple that owns the property, are the nicest!!
I loved every minute at “La Rosa de Ortega”

We only stayed one night at this lovely hotel, but wished we had longer. It was our last night in Cuba and we wanted to relax and this is the perfect place! It’s beautiful and the staff are lovely. Our room was separate from the main house and it was spacious, private and really lovely inside. it even had a view over the city, 2 floors and a huge bathroom. It was actually the best place we stayed the whole time! The restaurant there is great, we had breakfast and lunch and would highly recommend to eat there. They allowed us to stay and use the pool until we had to leave for our flight which was super nice. Having spent a few hectic days in Havana at the beginning of our trip, this place is a really nice way to enjoy it from a distance and also have some holiday vibes and relaxation. I can’t comment on the area as we only got a taxi into the old town which takes around 10 minutes so we didn’t have a chance to explore. There didn’t seem to be so much around, but I am sure if you stayed longer you might find there is and the staff for sure would be able to help you! Also the taxi is not far to central if not. Super relaxing and wonderful time, highly recommended!

Clean place, very nice Casa, gentle people. Just a bit light in terms of breakfast and dinner, and quite far from city center (old Town).

Casa Rosa Ortega is magnificently situated overlooking Havana from the top of a hill. A restored mansion amid fading, crumbling grandeur, la Rosa Ortega is beautifully appointed and our room was spotlessly clean and well equipped. A couple of good restaurants within a short walk in a neighbourhood which felt very safe as in most of Cuba. Anna and team were exceptional, helping to make our last couple of days in Havana very happy and memorable.

I never write reviews but I feel I simply must for Anna. My son was very sick when we arrived in Cuba. Anna advised me to take him to the foreign hospital but being afraid of hospital's (they're pretty bad in my country) I simply refused to go. Added to the fact that we were in a foreign country whose language I could not speak I became very frustrated and scared when he got worse and worse (fever, vomiting, diarrhoea) At the point where poor kid could barely move, I ran out crying. Anna was the angel I never knew I needed. She put her foot down and called a taxi to the hospital .... and the bit I couldn't believe any manager in a hotel would do .... she came with us to translate!!! Thanks to her big heart, the trip to the hospital was a breeze!! She stayed until she made sure we were going to be properly taken care of before she left. My son got better almost immediately thanks to the wonderful doctor he saw. I remain grateful to Anna to this day. She saved my boy and our trip!!Even before that, Anna had gone out of her way to service our every need. They organised everything for us from taxi to and from the airport, exchanging currency and a driver for our day trip around Havana. They even have proper internet! You hear so many rumours that Cuba has no internet access but that's not true! .... well, as long as you stay at this hotel anyway .... LOLHighly recommended if you want a cute Bed & Breakfast place and customer service that cant be compared.

We had a wonderful 5-night stay here. This is not your typical casa particular, its a beautiful mansion where you wish you could live for real. It sits on top of the hill and offers impressive views of the city. The staff is very friendly and will make you feel warmly welcome. The place is spotless clean, comfortable and full of character and history. The breakfast is generous, fresh and healthy, and changes a bit everyday. It consists of fruits, juice, coffee/tea, ham, cheese, eggs, toasts and the surprise of the day (pancakes, pastries and other yummy stuff we had no idea existed), and it made us feel full for a long time.Being about 6.5 km away from the hectic center, it offers peace and fresh air, and it feels good to retreat there after a long day out. However, it also means youll probably have to take a taxi to go to most places, and you can expect to pay 10 CUC each way for the city center/Old Havana. The neighbourhood used to be very affluent, so youll find many mansions around the house, most of which are in ruins now. There isnt much to do in the area, but theres a good restaurant called la Fondita Heredia. Cuba in general is very safe, and this neighbourhood is no exception. We walked around at night and it was fine.

We stayed at La Rosa Ortega for 3 nights for my partners birthday. Arriving late at night our initial thoughts were it was a nice and clean but basic property a little way out of town. However from the first interaction with the hotel staff it went on to be one of the highlights of our trip! Great breakfast with something different everyday. Beautiful house with many charming features. The staff couldn’t do enough and put on an amazing room surprise with cake and decorations for my partners birthday, and a lovely send off as we left in our taxi. Technicalities, for Cuba, ok WiFi and really easy taxi accessibility. Small recommendations...water in rooms and shower gel. Final note... we would definitely stay again, recommend to friends, family and anyone that is thinking of visiting Havana! :)

We loved La Rosa de Ortega from the moment we stepped inside the front gate. The smiles of our hosts were warm and welcoming and the B&B house and grounds were a haven in the bustle of Havana. Everything from the rooftop view of Havana to the stylish interiors and the proactive and super-friendly service was amazing. Very much recommend this as your place to stay in Havana!
