The only thing that let down our stay is that our room faced towards where all the hubbub is - our friend whose room faced the other way had a quiet night. I can deal with people being rowdy but it was cars honking their horns into the wee hours that was less good. However, having said that, you are in a great location close to lots of fun, places to eat, etc, and the room itself was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Staff is super nice and hotel deco super eclectic

Everything was average, except for the staff who were very good. Biggest issue was shower leaked and seeped under vinyl flooring and thru cracks…so the floor was wet most of the time. Seems like it’s been this way for a while. I told staff so hopefully they get it fixed. Great area. Not many good hotel options in this direct area. I’d probably consider staying again if necessary.

Nice and centralized

Nice spot in East Village. Hotel is conveniently located, nicely decorated and very welcoming.

Perfect for my family of 3 for the weekend! My husband and I were traveling with our teenaged son, and we stayed in the room with the queen bed and the twin in a separate alcove and it was perfect for us. Once you figure out where to put everything, it’s really all the space you need. Great water pressure in the shower too.

Staff was excellent from check in to check out. Bar had some nice eats and geeat music. Playful lounge with books, and games made you feel welcome and comfortable.
Breakfast offerings were sparse, but there are lots of other eats nearby.
It was a nice convenience.
Very playful decor and definitely a 'hip' posh place to stay.
Rooftop bar is a separate entrance, and was better during the day then at night.
Rooms were cozy but adequate for EV NYC.

Folks need to expect small rooms and high prices in NYC -- 'twas ever thus.
I was very happy with my brief stay and would be comfortable here for a longer one. Began with low-key but friendly service in the lobby (mirrored by similarly friendly service checking out in the am). The music from the lobby bar/club made me a little nervous about noise, but my 3rd floor room was perfectly quiet.
The room cleverly tucked a bunch of features into a very small space: much more cleverly than a slightly larger room I stayed in recently at a similarly-priced hotel in SoHo -- and with a bigger shower. (The shower deserves a special shout out for good water pressure and properly hot water.) I especially appreciated the wee loveseat/oversized chair with a swiveling work surface that could serve as a desk or as a bedside table. I don't love the loose-fitting rail-slide doors that small rooms now often use for the toilet (privacy, y'all!), but I can live with them.
Perfectly clean and in very good condition. Thoughtful decor: Village-inspired graffiti touches and moody greens with leather accents. Enormous window with not-unpleasant view and excellent light.
Will try to stay here again!

Nice hotel. Rooms are extremely small, but made the best of it. Only major issue was the lack of privacy during checkin. Hotel staff that checked us in was welcoming and really nice. Only issue was her reading our reservation out loud in front of others tht were there. Other than tht and the small room, the hotel was good. I wouldn’t return

We go to NYC often and we chose this hotel purely for the lower price point. I’m a big believer that in life you get what you pay for and normally we gladly pay more for a nice hotel. MOXY was fine, we didn’t have high expectations. Staff are just so-so. No one really goes above and beyond. The area around the hotel is fine but you need to walk or subway to the good areas. Its close proximity to Union Square is a bit sketchy, avoid after dark. I wouldn’t stay here again especially since there are so many areas to explore and so many great NYC hotels.

Loved the vibe and staff at the Moxy. Decor and cleanliness were great. Super fast internet you can actually use to work if you need to. They do charge a $30 fee you can use at their restaurant, but I checked in right before the kitchen closed and checked out early before it opened in the morning. They also need better soundproofing on their windows. I was woken at 230am and kept awake for an hour by noise on the street. If you don’t want to spend money on good windows, I suggest leaving free earplugs in the rooms. Some NY hotels also have white noise machines to help drown out street noise.

Small but comfortable. On,one pictures misleading as the rooftop bar is a separate entrance from hotel

I like the property. Very trendy. Lounge area was great. Rooms are small. We had a queen and daybed room. Daybed mattress was very hot. Queen was not. Had everything we needed. Would probably stay again.

Nice property, small rooms but expected from previous reviews and the fact it’s in NYC.
The USD 30 daily charge is not ideal, and it would be helpful if this was made clearer on Expedia so that people are aware of this.

Excellent place to stay while checking out NYU with our daughter. She really loved the feel of this hotel.

A friend recommended Moxy to me and the east village hotel was perfect for getting easily around Manhattan. It’s tight quarters, but that’s not surprising for NY. It’s a well thought out, and efficient room, and my 8 year old liked the day bed he slept in as well. We loved the cafe lounge area for breakfast, and Moxy gave us a credit each morning for tasty coffee/pastries that well worth it. The staff were all wonderful. We’d stay here again.

I’ll definitely be returning here for lodging when I’m in NYC again!

The hotel was extremely busy and noisy. The atmosphere is like a dark night club with dance music playing all the time. Hallway floors were dirty. Inside the rooms, there were food crumbs in the crevices next to the beds. Hotel staff were fine, but not warm or welcoming. Only one elevator was working when we were checking out which resulted in long wait times. I am surprised this hotel was highly rated and part of the Marriott chain which is known for upholding a standard of quality.

We only booked 1 night as our flight for the day of got cancelled and staff were very accommodating and kind. The property was very clean and the beds incredibly comfortable. Wish we would’ve stayed a few more nights, overall great stay.

Great place to stay as it’s on walking distance from Greenwich Village, Soho and many other places to be on Manhattan. Nice rooms that are simple though comfortable and geared with everything we need. Lobby is nice fitted.

The entire experience was great. Super hip hotel, the food was awesome, service was awesome, our room was awesome!

We stayed on a Saturday night and the honking outside woke us up numerous times until about 3am or so. The staff was friendly and the area was pretty safe compared to other areas in NYC.
The hotel tacks on a $30 "Destination Fee" which is a credit that can be used toward food at the cafe or bar, but after ordering coffee and food from the cafe in the morning in order to use the voucher, I'd much more prefer Moxy just leave the fee off.
The hotel is funky and we had a good overall stay but my partner and I decided that we'll stay at CitizenM instead the next time because it is so much better insulated from outside noise.
