The hotel has barely no service. It’s impossible to get someone to help you. No room whatsoever. The hotel is filled with people who go party on the rooftop. And the rooms aren’t quiet at all. Highly recommend avoiding this place!

You’ll either love it or hate it - we were unfortunately the latter.
Self check in with no staff around to tell you basic information about your room or the hotel. Basic amenities missing from your room such as tea/coffee, tissues, other bathroom items. Apparently the hotel provides free coffee before 8am - this information we found out on day 2 by chance.
Rooms are very small so be mindful if you are an international traveller with 2 medium sized suitcases - there will be limited space to walk around in your room.
Might be perfect for a business traveller - wouldn’t recommend if you’re staying for longer than 2 nights.

For us it’s a good location. But services continue to deteriorate. Room is not comfortable but it’s New York. Beware of the bed platform in this hotel.

Decent....good, fun LES location. Bars and rooftop were fun.

Room wasn’t ready and the condition of the room was beat-up.

The water in the shower is stale due to the design of the floor. Very unhygienic. The climate control made loud noise unable to make us sleep. Water in the wash basin was not draining properly. The escalators were not working for 4 days ! Only good thing is the roof top great views and igloos

Upon check-in, was directed by the concierge to change to a room that he assured me would be an upgrade on the one I booked, as it was "more bigger" and had a nicer bathroom.
When I actually got to the room, it was an accessible room which wasn't actually larger, but just had a larger, wheelchair accessible bathroom. The bathroom was not clean and there were odd black pieces of what appeared to be some kind of mold which appeared from underneath the rim of the toilet each time it was flushed.
Additionally, the shower did not work and when I called it took over an hour for them to send a maintenance person to come and replace the shower head, which made me late for a meeting. When I called and mentioned this to the person at the desk, who was named Dean, his response was "I'm sorry to hear that, glad your shower's working now though".
The room was dusty, and there were random hairs on the bed linens and the sofa. Really unfortunate, as the staff in the cafe and the rooftop bar were lovely. Sadly, will not be staying here again, although the location is perfect.

They dont clean the room. We were told if we would ask they can clean

High daily fees. Lumpy mattress. Old
pillows. Uncomfortable bed linens. Scratchy towels.

We truly enjoyed our stay. The room is typical New York which was very small, I also didn’t like how the sink was outside the bathroom. Weird, but we made it work. We stayed on a high floor (16) and the view was amazing. The environment and atmosphere is beautiful. The food was good as well. In all, I will stay again however maybe in bigger room if possible.

The room had a lot of quirks. Light switches were difficult to operate. The switch on the mirror fell off repeatedly. The TV didn’t work correctly. Made it feel like I was definitely overpaying. Additionally hotel staff were not as friendly as they had been on previous visits. Feels like the hotel is going downhill.

Great hotel in an excellent location. Can’t wait to come back.

Fantastic as always! Have stayed here 11 times in 2 years—close to everything including a discounted parking garage. The location next to the subway is also a bonus!
The rooms are a little small but they are clean and utilitarian. For us, location and cleanliness are the most important factors.
The rooftop bar is spectacular! And so is the lobby bar!

While the design of the hotel is lovely and the staff that I interacted with were very lovely, the hotel doesn’t feel like a four star experience. I complained on the first evening but had to complain again to get any resolution or even a reply. The manager was helpful but not until my third day of a five day trip. I wish the mini bar was stocked. Also That my towels didn’t have stains. When you book a room with a pull out couch you should also be asked if you need bedding and then supplied proper bedding- we never got a duvet for the pull out couch but by the time someone was finally attentive my assistant was leaving and I no longer was using the bed. The manager did make up for It but it’s unfortunately too late. The worse part is the cafe. The food is horrible and extremely expensive. Save your money and your stomach and just walk to a cafe or whole foods for a snack.

Always an experience at Public Hotel on Chrystie.
Very convenient location, great service, very friendly staff.

Overall the stay was ok, the staff were not overly catering or kind. We had always wanted to stay at this hotel for a few years, upon checking they gave us “what was left” which was an accessibility room to which we did not select. The accessibility room had hair in the tub and no door to the washroom… all for $700 for the night. For the price there are more luxurious places to stay. There was no management available to speak too either.

Super nice hotel,excellent location

The noise at this property was louder than staying at a property in Times Square and double the price for the same size space once you add in fees. Unless you are going to the nightclub upstairs, I recommend staying some place else if you want to sleep. While the ambiance and design looked great, small details in cleanliness for higher priced rooms was not apparent.

Dean is the absolute best, he made our stay so enjoyable!!

The hotel was superb and I’d recommend upgrading to the excellent view room, it really is a spectacular view. The location was just perfect for what we were looking for, fantastic underground link just a minute from the front door and a really interesting neighbourhood to explore with Chinatown, little Italy and the village within a few minutes walk

There is a real lack of the personal touch in this hotel, I emailed them about late check in without reply, I arrived at 1 am and it was like entering a busy nightclub - no staff around to help or check me in which was eventually achieved via an I pad in a reception area full of drunk people.

This room was designed by a man, the place where you’re supposed to stand and put on your make up is completely dark. I did the best I could, but on the first day my daughter told me I look like a clown. I did, I just couldn’t put on make up in that incredibly dim dumb light. The next day I did it more lightly and I just looked dead. I am never staying in this hotel again, the whole point is that you’re supposed to get up and be able to get ready, but that recessed mirror with minimal lighting doesn’t work for a woman who wants to put on any make up .

Lovely stay. Facilities are nice, but for the money, it's not amazing. Rooms smal, but nice. Just expensive for what it is, but not ridiculous for NYC.

Such a fun hotel with a high end esthetic but when you walk into the room we found the floor to be very dusty and sticky in some spots, the restroom and showers looks nice but shower was a bit moldy and the toilet area was very dusty like they never bothered to clean it cuz they think no one could see. The bars, exercise rooms, and lobby were all very convenient with good food options and staff were generally nice and helpful.

We really liked the location of the hotel and the design. We liked the wellness classes offered in the morning on the rooftop with views over New York.
We didn’t like the customer service. One day our morning wellness class was cancelled and we only found out when we were waiting for the teacher. We later found out that the hotel had sent us a text on our foreign mobile phones which we didn’t use while in New York. I wish they would have told us at check in that they were planning to use our mobile phones for these types of communication. For the class the following day we went to reception to confirm that the class was going to go ahead - the person at reception told us that “since he started working there no class was ever cancelled” and then turned his back on us.

Very cool hotel with secret doors and a chic vibe. But we arrived after hours and not a soul around to help or greet you. Roof top bar was fire

Some of the amenities were limited due to fashion week. Also make sure not to book a queen room if you’re a couple, no bathroom doors. No room service and no bell service. The decor, rooftop views and nightlife are amazing.

Beautiful hotel, great location, amazing rooftop views.

Over reliance on on-line check in and lack of personnel to support. bed right next to window on high floors, by design. cold and sterile. futuristic, cold, impersonal, edgy vibe may work for some. Not us.

Great location. Clean and well maintained rooms although not very spacious. No amenities despite an amenity fee….no water, no coffee in room…
Access to roof top is great although no guest benefits other than access…

Great location and beautiful hotel. Lots of sitting areas, dining/ drinking options, and close to the F train. Definitely recommend and will definitely stay here again.
