Stalheim hotel is an amazing location with absolutely gorgeous views of the valley. The hotel staff was amazing as well. The bartender personally made me some mulled wine that he prepped from scratch on a particularly cold evening. Had an amazing experience that I won't soon forget.

Great view. Charming large lobby. Favorite destination for tour buses. Dingy carpet in hallways and room. Room smelled. Dated furniture. No TV. Lack of infrastructure investment shows. No personality or energy. Dull and boring.

Exceedingly outdated property worst than any motel I’ve stayed at. The views are incredible but the rooms and facilities desperately need an upgrade. The hotel staff is also completely unhelpful as I was trying to get a taxi to and from Flåm train station (all the hotels in Flåm had been booked and this was the closest accommodation I could find for my Norway in a nutshell tour). I had called ahead of my stay to try to arrange a taxi but the staff was never willing to help. I wound up paying $100 USD from Flåm station for a taxi and $200 USD by taxi back to Flåm station. Mind you it is a 30 min taxi ride. Absurd rates. It turns out there were tour buses and other guests going to catch the same bus as myself but the hotel staff made no effort to help me find a way back to the station even after I had inquired about these options. The rooms were also probably the most outdated and disgusting rooms I’ve ever stayed at.

Stalheim is an old school hotel with lots of interesting features. The grounds are beautiful and definitely worth checking out! It’s dated but part of its charm but some features could use updating.

Very nice

Staying here allowed me to experience what it was like to stay at a hotel felt like on the 1930’s. That was the last time they updated the hotel. Overpriced and overrun with tour groups taking a picture. Breakfast was just as dated as the hotel.

Amazing situation (when not covered in clouds). The evening and breakfast buffets were excellent in both quality and choice

Beautiful nature around the hotel but very isolated , and transportation is not easy , there is a bus station down the hill which is 15-20 min walk , fairly steep , and difficult to do with luggage .. Staff was helpful and took us back and forth to the bus station.

It is an old hotel but very clean. Service is great. Breakfast buffet is great. Dinner buffet not as good and very expensive. Many busses come to Stalheim, some just for a "view stop" and others over night - but it is often very crowded, especially at meals. The views are stunning.

Fantastic views.
Breakfast was just OK.
Dinner was super expensive and only one option. As the location is far from nearby towns we’re held hostage to this high priced dinner.
There’s a small snack shop which we used to make up. The snack shop person was very friendly and helpful.

Really enjoyed our stay. Very quiet and beautiful grounds.

Other than the strong aroma and smell everywhere in the property, I would stay that my time there was excellent. From location, to facilities, to views but there is just a strong unpleasant smell everywhere you go and it unfortunately masks everything you experience onsite.

Quaint hotel in beautiful location. Old but very well kept. Super nice and helpful staff. I would definitely stay again!

Hotel on top of the mountain with 7 star view. We were given the rooms facing the mountain but we only stayed there for one night. Should have stayed longer. Good breakfast and dinner. Room was cosy and give you a nostalgic feeling. We love this hotel. Will definitely stay here again when I come back.

The staff at check-in and in the dining room were cordial and friendly.

Though most of the facilities are a bit dated, everything has been maintained to a high standard. The location and the view and the historical atmosphere of the hotel is unbetable. A very pleasant experience to live here.

This property is very well located and walkable to dining in Voss; however, it is very dated and in disrepair. We had a really bad experience during our stay and our shower/tub started leaking all over the floor. When we asked for assistance, we were told just to let it drain (which would have flooded the room so we plugged a tub that was full of water) and then when they finally checked the issue, they left the tub cover open to a rusty, smelly drainage area. We were told it would be repaired or we would get another room later that day. By the end of the day - neither happened and we had to start the discussion over again. To expect guests to work around a situation that causes the bathroom to be flooded and unusable is really NOT a good experience to have while on vacation. We ultimately did get a new room, but no other apologies or recognition for this terrible experience. I think we would have been completely fine with the dated property for the price, but the issues we had made this a bad experience overall.

Beautiful location and view. A little worn around the edges but very clean, comfy beds, and very nice staff. Was a nice stop and good night of sleep after arriving from an international flight and drive from Bergen. Easy morning drive to Flåm to take the fjord cruise the next morning.

The view from Stalheim is world class. The valley below and the surrounding mountains create one of the best venues in all of Norway. It is not surprising that they first built this hotel in the 1890's in this location. Spectacular!

What an amazing area to visit. The hotel and property feel like you are living in a post card. The history and antiques are museum quality. Lovely staff, breakfast!

Stahlheim is taking full use of its scenic location with breathtaking views from every window. The room was clean and service very efficient. The buffet dinner is a must, at least once. We would stay there any time again.

Hotel is out dated but food was super good! We got in at 1 am due to a traffic accident blocking the road for over 4 hrs, so we were too tired to look around. We left right after breakfast to get to our tour so we didnt explorer. Bed needed to be updated..to soft & pillows were ok. Food at breakfast was outstanding & plenty of it.

We had the perfect view of Viking Valley from our hotel room and it was spectacular and it made our visit. We liked the folk museum next door and the exhibits in the cases in the lobby. The desk help was sort of average but friendly. The rooms were dated but the view made up for it. The hike we would have liked to take was closed due to road work. The food in the buffet was very good. It was convenient to the Viking Museum and Gudvagen. We did the Norway in a Nutshell tour there but instead of taking the local bus we drove to the train station in Voss which was 45 minutes away. The train station was a little hard to find. We were satisfied with the hotel. It had a spectacular location.

The only reason you should stay here is because of the view. The rooms do not have televisions and limited plugs for your computer. The Front desk staff needs better customer service training. There is only one restaurant in the hotel and most of the time it is a buffet which is not good if you want something small to eat. My recommendation is come to see the view and stay elsewhere.

Yes the hotel is of an era. If you need a television in such a magical location then you were missing the point in my opinion. Yes it was a bit pricey. More than I have ever spent on a hotel room however I will never forget the experience go back and I would happily go back. It became the highlight of a weeklong trip to Norway. Walking the grounds and admiring the woods and the view is some thing I will never forget

We loved this old hotel! Well run, great location in the center of town and near the train station. Breakfast was amazing. Lots of little historic facts all through the building, including a library room with tea and cookies open all day. Highly recommend.

The location and view of this property are exceptionally beautiful. The property is tired and worn and needs to be updated for the price charged. Breakfast is very nice and we had savory and very nice shepherd pie for lunch that was delicious.

We've stayed at Stalheim on two different trips, and we would certainly stay there again. The staff is very helpful. Both breakfast and dinner (buffet style) are wonderful. The hotel & mountain surroundings are gorgeous.

Hotel is a bit off the beaten path but worth the drive. Absolutely incredible views from the property. Staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Rooms are slightly outdated but still above average compared to a typical chain hotel. Breakfast buffet is fantastic with lots of options.

This hotel has a stunning view. We stayed here with our two children, they shared the pull out couch. The room was nice for an old hotel. We were able to enjoy a cocktail in the outdoor area and it was beautiful. We all enjoyed breakfast.

Fantastic location and view. Lobby with character, style and games to be used by guests. Staff very helpful - in our case with directions for hikes. The curtains in the rooms didn't perfectly block the light.
