It would be pretty hard to beat the convenience of this location. You can walk to pretty much anywhere in Boston from here. Subways were close, there's plenty of places to eat right near by. The communication from the property management was excellent. Expect this place to be... quirky. It's definitely run down. The elevator was an adventure, though it always ran. The water pressure is lacking. The floor was very squeaky. Our room was very dark. And the bed was not particularly comfortable. But the price was very good, and like I said, it was all about the location.

This certainly was a place for selv-improvement. One week, but no hot water in the shower, did wonders to stomach freezing showers. And mentally, a machine park of AC ventilators weighed heavily, especially at nighttime. The stay was a little like reading a self-help book, but of course much more expensive. However, it felt safe, the location is really good and communications swift.

This was in a great location. The room was quiet and comfortable for our family of 3. I really enjoyed the seating area!

clean and did let us check in early. we had to pay for anther location to leave our bags, it would have been nice to leave there esp when we say people leaving!!
the bathrooms seemed to not be enough for the floor and there was not access to another floor, but other floors could come to ours 2nd

It was the perfect midtown spot to lay over if you are just in town for the night or a couple days
Make sure you request the rooms with private bathrooms if that’s a thing for you
If I was staying more than overnight I would have wanted that but I was in town for a show and just sleeping there

Fun stay at Tenple Place. I was here for work but made it a fun work trip running in Boston Common both mornings. Love music everywhere in the evening and great local restaurants.

Communication was terrible, didn't receive check in instructions until i reached out and had to follow up multiple times. Supplies were out, tv didn't work, couch was broken, lights out in the bathroom the whole weekend, and someone walked into my room who had the code. Would never stay here again.

It is shocking how run down some areas in Boston have become, occupied by homelessness and drug dealing, so the block where this hotel is located, just steps from the park. The room was small, no window bringing natural light, the absolute minimum.
Booking and check in, all via email and pin codes, no contact to any human being. If you are on a budget, what you need to be in super expensive Boston, you can chose TemplePlace Suites, but it will not contribute any positive experience to your stay.

The communication via text was fantastic! I was assuming the property would be of the same calibre but it wasn’t. The location is great - close to walkable area and the trains. The condition of the building and the suites themselves are quite terrible. The pictures are not the same as the actual room.

This building is very old and rundown. When we walked in, the living area was 80 degrees. There is no central AC, although there are vents and a thermostat, which did not work. There was only a monstrous "window/floor" unit in the bedroom that was hooked up to the outside with two huge clothes dryer vent tubes. We had to turn down the temp to 65 in order for the living room to be tolerable. We had an adult staying on the sofa bed and it was miserably hot for him, and freezing for us.
Secondly, there was no cable tv. This is unacceptable in 2024. They had a Roku I believe, but no major networks available.
The location was convenient for sightseeing and touring the historical parts of Boston. The unit was clean, and the bed was comfortable.
They need to fix the air conditioning system, and get rid of the huge thing in the bedroom, and figure out how to offer major networks to their guests, like all other hotels.I didn't feel like we got our moneys worth from this hotel.

Overall the place is great if you’re on a budget, however someone kept clogging the bathroom and it barely flushed as it is. On the plus side there were two bathrooms to use.

I love the location of the center, but there were somethings missing from the room like essentials they said would be provided and there wasn’t.

+ location, near shopping and views, public transport (few addicts and homeless people arround, but not disturbed)
+ room was enought to us
+ communication with host were fast
- bathroom (low water pressure)
- no mirrors (only in bathroom)
- no soundproofing

Great location, but probably won’t stay again. The building could use some improvements overall. Elavator was ROUGH to say the least - it shook bad and the doors slammed whenever opening and closing. The room was good, and I liked the set up (gave dorm room honestly). The bathrooms were my least favorite, and not because you had to share with other people on your floor, but because one of the toilets barely worked and the everything in the bathrooms was basically rusted over. Perfect for college students (or people who just graduated) needing a cheap place to stay in the city. Would not recommend if you have more money to spend on a hotel stay though.

Location was great.

You get what you pay for. Very small and over crowded with furniture. A mirror in the room with outlets would free up the shared bathroom. The toilet seat was broken in one of the bathrooms so everyone wanted to use the other one. The location is centrally located which was good. If you’re not planning on being in the room for more than sleep. I would recommend. But its was really crowded with 3 people.

Everything is done by email. Instructions are a bit convoluted. Needed another guest to walk us through things. NO PARKING…even to unload a car. A usual smell greets you…and we could never quite place it. Stains on floors…elevator is a little sketchy. Door codes for EVERYTHING!…be prepared with the instructions. Shower is SHARED and as such clean and dirty by chance.
But DAMN…the location is FANTASTIC! 3 min walk to Boston Commons for walking tours…3 min walk to subway to get to Fenway Stadium. Only reason to stay here and put up with everything!

Really good area. You are able to walk everywhere. Bathroom and kitchen were kept reasonably clean. We could have done with some paper towels to dry hands after washing them. They were all empty the whole time we were there. Excellent communication with the hosts. Answered all my questions and they helped when they could

I booked using expedia a room deluxe which it is described with bathroom but when I arrived I had a shared bathroom. I tried to contact using the expedia app which was the only way to communicate with them and they replied they did not see I booked the deluxe room and that was a problem of Expedia and so to solve the problem with them. Once back home I tried to solve the problem with the Expedia support but they are not able to solve the problem even if my receipt shows exactly that I have booked a Deluxe room. They said it is not written that the deluxe room has private bathroom but the description is clear to me.

Overall, the accommodations are OK. Think of it as a locked door hostel. There is a rougher area down towards the downtown Crossing Subway, and the subway up the street which is park/Boston Commons is also a little rough. I had my 16-year-old son with me And we were OK. However, if I was traveling with younger kids, I would not be a super happy parent. But the facility itself is good. The cleaning lady did allow us to leave our backpacks that had no valuables in an area by the kitchen. Then we could get to the city earlier than check in and enjoy things and come back after 4 PM. The owner should seriously consider having , an area to lock your suitcases

When we checked in the room they initially gave us was nothing at all like photos and tiny and lacked kitchen and amenities. We contacted them right away and fortunately the room type we expected was available and they moved us. The top floor which is 6 has no elevator so be ready to take the stairs from five.

This is probably the dirtiest hotel i've ever lived in in my life. Beds were terribly uncomfortable and had. I known that it was a hostile. I would never have stayed there. The noise level was horrendous.

I really enjoyed it and the people who stayed were very friendly too

That is a decent option for a short travel. The check-in procedure was very simple. Our room was clean and spacious, although extremely dark, with almost no natural light. The shared restrooms were clean but missed hooks to hang clothes and/or towels.

I liked location a lot. I did my like the bldg cleanliness. The room had stained sofa and floors.

The room in which we stayed was lovely. There was a problem with linens as we did not have but one face cloth, but the room was comfortable. The entrance to the building was not extremely well kept, but I would stay there again because the location was great.

The room worked just fine for what we needed for the night. BUT it was veryyyy hot. It had an AC unit in it that we set to 64 all night and it barely took the heat down. Hallways were a sauna and that’s where the heat was coming from.

No frills place in an excellent location
Could use cosmetic makeover

Overall a decent place to stay short term. The only thing I have to complain about is how noisy it gets at night. I mean what else can you expect staying downtown, but just be aware it does get pretty noisy and if you’re a light sleeper, you might not sleep. Location was super convenient though! Close to everything! Not the boujee-est place but it worked.

Love the room that was assigned to us. It’s easy to get to the apartment block and walkable to Boston Common.

Was more of a hostel vibe but I loved it and the price point was great! Tons of walkable food, nightlife, tourism, shopping, etc

Room is in poor condition and really need to be fixed. The floor was crumbled and covered with pieces of carpet. The row of carpet next to the wall was always wet. Bad smells due to probably mold. The shower area was not clean with hairs from previous customer.
Location is good. The owner really need to fix the room to make this place a good choice for customers.

Note: This is not a traditional hotel. It’s more like a hostel with shared bathroom.
Our review: Easy check in/check out with codes on all doors. Room was a good size with almost everything one needs (I would have added a mirror). Comfortable bedding and space. The bunk bed’s frame is a bit fragile and the ladder was also a bit hard to climb. Common areas were ok. The elevator, stairs, and lobby smelled and didn’t look super clean. The shared floor kitchens and bathrooms were clean enough. The location is absolutely AMAZING! Unbeatable, really! Easy access to the T, Blue Bikes, walkable to Faneuil Hall/North End.
We would return for the price and location. The communication with management was great!

No soap in restroom, no paper for hand.

Spacious hotel in downtown Boston. We had a pleasant stay!

Need to do a better job cleaning rooms before customers come. You should clean up everywhere.

Great property for the location and price. Definitely showing its age, but very comfortable mattresses, so a great night sleep.

I liked that customer service manned the phones 24 hrs a day & was quick to connect with you but they are very limited in what they can do remotely as there is no front desk or nearby help until housekeeping comes the next morning (never came to our room). Be careful that the pictures do not match the room. We had an efficiency size refrigerator with a tiny freezer & tiny sofa (unlike the larger ones in the pictures). They had no ice cube trays in the entire property & refused to get any yet there is no ice machine on site. Imagine they cannot spend a dollar a room for a lousy ice cube tray, knowing they have no ice on the property & tell you to go to a convenience store for ice. There was no light in the kitchen area between the bedroom & sitting area. How exactly do they expect you to see to cook? Windows do not have an outside view-they open to a small verticale shaft in the middle of the property to let in light. Maintenance is poor. Our toilet paper holder was broken, kitchen faucet was hard to move about the sink, floor had an uneven soft spot in the kitchen bordering on a trip hazard, furniture is low quality but lamps did have dual USB A connectors for charging. Smart TV isn’t so smart-it doesn’t seem to be on same wi-if network as guest wi-fi so no streaming from a smart phone and TV channels are Very limited otherwise-no network or cable channels whatsoever. TV is in sitting room so no TV in bedroom. Nice tub/shower. Overall rating-below average at best.
