About this house rental
This beautiful property is right across the I-205 bridge from the PDX Airport, offering a most convenient location for travelers. This home, also known as “Woods Landing”, is a nature preserve consisting of forest, meadows, streams and riverbank. It is located on the banks of the Columbia River with private beach access most times of the year. Beautiful natural habitat and wildlife including deer and eagles make this property a perfect get away.
We do not live on-site, so we do utilize cohosts and are just a phone call away for any questions that arise. We would love to hear about your stay! We do have a long-term tenant/basement renter. There should be little to no contact, and this space has its own entrance so you will not have your private space interrupted. This property is self check-in.
Woods Landing Home and property is part of the Columbia Grove and Woods Landing Preservation Projects, spearheaded by non-profit and community organizations and conservationists in the community to preserve vital sections of the Columbia River habitat for imperiled Chum Salmon. Wood’s Landing is one of the last remaining natural spawning grounds on the Lower Columbia for endangered Chum Salmon. The spawning grounds welcome over 3,000 Chum salmon each year that return to the springs to spawn and renew life. Columbia Land Trust and Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center are partnered with the owners of Woods Landing to preserve this land in perpetuity for conservation purposes. Many wildlife species live on the property including bald eagles, deer, raccoons, rabbits, beaver, and otter. Bald Eagles can often be spotted in the trees by the beach or in the thick forest by the roadway coming into the property (at the edge of the meadow with tree plantings). This property invites in nature in a purposeful way. You may hear, see and experience all levels of nature at this woodsy retreat!
You will have full access to the main floor of this home. We do have a long-term guest in a completely separate basement entry with a limited side of the house private entry. Full access to Main House and front/side and back yard/deck area. Private access to the River for canoeing or tubing or relaxation.
As this is a protected Property, a few rules apply:
No parties or large gatherings on beach.
No beach access at all during the months of November – January (salmon are spawning).
Access on beach is only permitted directly in front of the house and not upstream.
No bottles allowed on beach.
No pets allowed on the property.
The home features a large, sprawling layout with five bedrooms, three bathrooms, two kitchens, three dining areas, and multiple living spaces. This retreat is a home away from home that meets up the old original wood beam high ceilings with unique updated finishes. Most of the house has been recently renovated and gorgeous views of the Columbia River frame nearly every room in the house. The sprawling deck overlooking the Columbia River has a secluded picnic bench with a one-of-a-kind view and provides a perfect space for your whole group. This is truly a piece of the Pacific Northwest that you cannot miss. This home is uniquely set up to provide space and privacy for more than one group with privacy and separate accommodations if necessary. If you love nature and natural indoor spaces and crave a restful retreat, we are confident this gorgeous property will charm you.

Jamison was a wonderful host--helpful and prompt in replies to our questions. We loved spending time with family here--lots of room to spread out and relax, beautiful river views, cozy living room with lots of windows. The proximity to the river was lovely. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the home was well-stocked with linens. We would stay here again for a peaceful refuge.

Good property. Nice view. Low noise from either barges or trains. I'd stay there again.

This place is right on the river and had lovely scenery. However, the house is very dated with no central heat, thermostats that do nothing and space heaters needed for every room. We blew a fuse trying to heat up the house despite it being early spring. We didn't think it was worth the cost, given the condition of the house, the tenet that we could hear in the basement and the coats we had to wear inside to feel comfortable.

I was leading a group of teens at a conference in Vancouver and needed a place to stay. Wood Landing met our needs perfectly. This is a very secluded getaway. The directions to the home from the owner were perfect, but we did miss one turn in looking for the property. Once we took the final right, the parking for the home was clearly marked. The space was clean and charming. We enjoyed the views of the River in the morning although we did not spend much time at the house during the day. The Owners were responsive to our questions. We would stay here again if we find ourselves in Vancouver with a group.

This home was a perfect getaway for our three generation Family Christmas. The layout gave everone space and privacy. The view of the river was fabulous... so serene... we even had a doe visitor every morning. The heating was a little uneven... the spaces with general heat were great... the main house however was a little chilly for us Floridians and the space heaters there couldn't compensate. Not all of the outlets worked and Wi-Fi was very spotty.
Also, although there was absolutely no interference or paths crossed, we were a trifle spooked to discover other residents in the house basement apartment... maybe a heads up would have been appropriate.

We had a great women’s getaway for my group. We got lost. GPS stops you just after the tracks and even the directions the owner gives leaves out that you’ll come to what looks like a private drive with a no trespassing sign but keep going and then the house addresses will make sense. 🙂 there were a few things that had issues but nothing you wouldn’t expect from an old house. We are an older group and wished their were more safety bars in the bathroom or an anti slip mat. Of course there’s never enough kitchen hand towels. And i really thought their would have been more of a yard. Nice out door patio for our gathering. Definitely use caution going down hill to river. Nice boulders to seat and enjoy the sun and water. A great place for a large group of friends. The 10 of us felt like we had lots of room and no one was on top of each other. Exactly what we wanted.

The house was very clean and spacious!! The setting is beautiful with many large windows to enjoy the trees and view of the river. It is easy to get down to the water and a nice beach to enjoy. We enjoyed sitting outside to do much of our visiting. All the rooms of the house were comfortable and well suited for family.

The rental was surprisingly a disappointment. Upon arriving we discovered the beach is longer there and the water is not safely accessible. The outside deck was covered with moss, yard and roof debris. You could not tell what was deck and what was the pond (or that there was a pond) along side of the house. We were cleaning off the debris when one of us stepped into the pond not realizing it was there. Thankfully no one was injured but it was not a welcome beginning. We scrubbed the outdoor furniture as it was found piled in a corner, covered with cobwebs, dirt and grime from being outside all winter. The outdoor lights were a nice touch; however, the electrical setup was a safety concern with an indoor outlet strip being used outdoors near a water source. The house was very comfortable and suitable for our stay, however all the dishes and cookware had to be washed prior to use as they were covered with a sticky, greasy residue. The house was infested with spiders, cobwebs and debris were stuck between the windows and screens giving everything a dirty, unkept feeling. The property has so much potential but is in desperate need of a deep cleaning and TLC. Most disappointing is the Host/Owner have refused to reply to my multiple requests to discuss my concerns even after I provided requested photos. Two months later, VRBO has issued a “ticket” but each time I call I am told to “call back in a few days” render no help whatsoever. Consequently this will be my last VRBO rental.

Our family gathered for our younger daughter's wedding in Portland. The weekend was beautiful and our accommodations at the Riverfront Retreat were perfect for our group. The peaceful location and gorgeous views were just what was needed. Our hosts were VERY responsive. We would definitely stay here again - most highly recommended!

The house was clean and well-appointed, but it was the views of the Columbia (from the kitchen, dining and living room) that really made the stay magical.
