This was booked for my granddaughter for a concert. They could not stay, the hotel was filthy, the roof was leaking, the toilet was broken, the bed stank of urine and the mattress was badly stained. Avoid, we are trying to get a refund via my credit card. My grandaughter and her friend were offered drugs in the car park, they are 21and 22 and were too sacred to go back so drove back to Wales. Dusting place. We have lots of photos. The roof had a massive h9le in it

This was the worst hotel I have stayed in in years. The name suggests something far better than reality. The hotel is very tired. The restaurant does not operate. The clientele seem to be mainly local workers (some nice people but a bit scary). The bath was flimsy and had a burn mark in it. The room was otherwise clean. The fire alarm went off early morning. There was a lot of commotion from a couple of doors down in the night. I then received a fine from a third party company because I had parked in the car park overnight. I saw no signs and no mention was made about parking when I checked in. The website said that parking was free. Never again will I consider staying at that hotel. It should be shut down.

Very run down rooms and corridors. The water in the toilet cistern was flowing all night so loud. Also 2am some people were arguing shouting in the corridor or some other room

The hotel is very tired, and appears to be full of permanent residents. There was no food available, people running up and down the hallway after 12.00pm shouting
Awful place

Generally poor. Overall it looked run down and shabby both inside and out. The room itself looked OK but all the fixtures and fitting were very chunky and the toilet seat was broken."Reception" area was very unwelcoming with the receptionist hidden behind notices and computer screens. Pricy for what we got compared with other hotels we have stayed in recently. Overall very basic and certainly not remotely worth the £150 it cost for the room for one night.

Having read some of the reviews, I approached my visit - particularly the guest who said that he would have rather slept in his car- but it was ok. It wasn't perfectly clean and the shower was a bit hit and miss (my son said the shower in hid room was great), but it was ok. Petfectly average, but not good value - my room was £125. The biggest issue was one of the windows in my room would've close so not ideal in November. Would I stay there again? No. It was over priced and too nany niggly issues.

I should have read the reviews before booking. Not fit to stay.

Check in was smooth. The lift didnt work, so glad qe were on the 1st floor. There was immediate sign on long term damp along the corridor. The room smelt like it needed air. The walls need a pait. There were stains all.over the walls, even in the bathroom. We had to ask for the heating to be on in the evening and it was straight away. It served its purpose for a budget nught stay, but i wouldn't stay here again unless it has a makeover. The doors to the rooms have to be slammed shut also, meaning you can always jear banging.

I really think that Expedia should visit this hotel and then take it off their web site.

Hotel obviously being brought up to standard but no breakfast or restaurant available during our stay, some fittings in our room were not up to standard(bathroom tap loose, one light did not worketc). Staff were ok

Tired room and no fresh / clean mugs tea or coffee for day 2. Tv barely worked no live tv had to use Netflix ac but remote needs new batteries hence very slow and frustrating. Location was good for what I needed, reception is the bar and staff varied from kind and helpful to no words and just nod of head

I am absolutely shocked at the service and state of this hotel. It’s unbelievable that this place is taking bookings the condition of this hotel is unacceptable. The toilet seat was broken, the heating in my room wasn’t working. I stayed for 2 nights and spoke to staff regarding this I was just told that the boiler will be reset. On arrival I was told that the floor my room is on there is no signal, my TV wasn’t working. The room was absolutely freezing cold I was shivery most of the time. The cleanliness was appalling I am allergic to dust and as you can see on the pictures I attached the room was very dirty and dusty. First and last time I stay here! Although it was very cheap unfortunately it still wasn’t worth it. The lift was very smelly.

I liked the excellent and friendly staff.
I didn't like that there was not a servicing of the room
on the Saturday or the Sunday.

Do not stay here - you would have a better time sleeping in your car.
I have stayed in some bad places in my time but this is another level of bad.
When we arrived it was evident there was some work being done in the dining area. That’s fine. Start going up the stairs to the hotel and it’s another story. Plaster coming off the walls, holes in the wall, broken lift out of action and ladies toilets out of order.
Our room…well you can see from the pictures. Black and yellow and sporous mould in the bathroom. The bathroom door was a complete state, had no handle and looked like someone had previously kicked it in.
We spoke to the hotel and they said to contact Expedia who we had booked with. Expedia were useless and said we could have £25 refund in vouchers. We had a show to go to so went out and tried to console ourselves that we were just staying for one night.
When we returned to the hotel it was unbearable. There was a function room directly underneath us with a really loud party. The base of the music was causing the whole room to vibrate! This was at 9.45am. We spoke to the hotel and Expedia. Expedia said wait 3-4 days for a response from them. The hotel said the party would be done by 10.15pm. We waited till 10.30 and it was no better and we were exhausted so decided to leave.
Do not stay here - you would have a better time sleeping in your car.

There is extensive renovation going on and the bar area is very small. Also there is no eating facilities while the renovation is going on. My window in the room would not close so it was cold at night

Very comfortable bed. However the property is part way through a refurbishment which is impacting on the cleanliness of the public areas and rooms.

A tired hotel with a certain Faulty Towers charm.

The general upkeep of the property and room was not to standard. Broken items in the room. Towels not clean as they should be. The bathroom sink was blocked, standing water. We did not stay the 2nd night.

Not good

The property is under development, which seems to be taking forever, room had no curtains, closet was dirty, bath/shower was dirty, the toilet had some sort of over flow of water and all night heard dripping noise. The room is half in development. Only thing is good I paid £78 for two nights. Could be a good place in the future once all work is done. Would I stay agin only if I was desperate and broke but highly advice people don’t pay full price if it’s £39 a night it’s ok just a bed. But other wise would advise to stay away if the place ever gets finish I’m sure they will put the price up and would say you’ll find better places in the area. Sad really but is what it is.

Hotel was dirty, the room wasn’t clean for the 4 days I was there, tv didn’t work properly, the windows didn’t lock or close and I was in a ground floor room, I had no hot water the last 2 days I was there. Hotel manager didn’t care one bit. If you haven’t just crossed the channel in a dingy, then do not stay in this “hotel”

It was ok for one night. Hotel is undergoing renovations.

Terrible place door didn’t lock
No tv remote
Bed was wet from who ever stayed before us and it came through the sheets in the night

Elevator is out of order. Part of the hotel is renovating so there is dust at the pathway to the car park.(and in the room is also dusty.) The most serious issue is the shower valve is not functioning for the warm or cold water so there is only very hot water is coming and it almost burns me. I tried to inform the receptionist but he said that he couldn’t do anything except trying off and on the main water boiler which could not help for our problem. I asked to change the new room but he didn’t allow us. The next morning I told this problem to another guy at the reception and he said sorry and he told me that he would contact Expedia to compensate something to us but nothing happened until now.

This is a basic hotel at a great price. The room is clean and great for a 1 night overstay. The personnel were great and very helpful. Still able to get a few beers in the evening below at the desk. Rooms on the top floors are noisy. Free parking behind the hotel is very convenient. Hotel itself is not clean but they are re-decorating the inside. All in all: Happy to have found it and happy to leave.

A basic hotel for a basic price. In the middle of some updating by the looks of it and definitely needs it in the corridors. Staff very friendly and helpful.

we had a fantastic stay at the Connaught, even tho it's under a bit of a refurb, it looks like it's being modernized, everything was great, smooth check in, spotless room, free parking, literally no complaints, but overall special thanks to Tony, what a superb host, nothing was too much bother, he (and Adam) are an absolute credit.

Booked and paid in advance to stop at The Connaught Hotel Wolverhampton on Saturday, as we were attending a baby shower up the road at Vaal & Vaal. Minimal expectations as it was a cheap stay out of convenience, it was closest and The Mount was fully booked in advance due to an event.
Checked in around 6/7pm, Owner and his staff pleasant on arrival, however when we got to the room to get changed and get ready to go back out we found that the bathroom was unclean, a used red disposable razor left in the shower along with a round soap bar covered in hair. The sink had a yellow liquid substance that ran near the base of the taps, there appeared to be some types of holes (potentially cigarette holes) in the curtains.
As there was no phone visible in the room, I called reception twice and was unable to get through. As the lifts are not for public use and we were on the 3rd floor we decided to get changed and advise at reception upon leaving for our event - we were advised that the manager would contact.
There was no offer to go up and check or send someone to clean the room, and when we returned the following morning nothing had been done.
Nothing was said by the hotel upon checkout, no acknowledgement and we had to leave for Manchester so I awaited a call which was not received.
Fast forward to Wednesday afternoon, I have called the hotel as no call back received. The owner was rude, condescending and continued to cut me off as he abruptly interrogated me!

Accommodation was poor as we were not notified that the hotel was under restoration. Receptionist unhelpful didn't know anything. No lift service, sorryif you had health issues.. The room was clean. Bathroom, toilet cistern was running couldn't flush reported it fixed straight away. When we returned early hour's of the morning. The toilet could not flush. Thank god we were only staying one night. Reported that the toilet did not flush. No apologies. Would not stay there again it was not worth £99 no breakfast facilities. Expedia should have stated under repair. Misrepresentation. Very poor.
