Really satisfying break, with excellent bar service food and drink.

Plain but perfectly well appointed, a good place to stay at the price

While working nights in the area, I was arriving at the Castle Hotel each morning around 0645. Fiona and Milly had breakfast ready for me and always asked if I required anything for my rest period. Food was first class and the personal attention afforded to the guests at breakfast is outstanding. Well done Fiona and Milly. Highly recommended.

The property was clean and tidy . After the first day the room had not been attended to . No clean towels , shower gel and shampoo . When making the reception aware she said normally you inform them when this is needed . The following day i informed the maid what was required and it was carried out . She politely appologised .

Great location on the High Street. Everything was pleasant, can tell the property had been refurbished so was nice enough but done so on a budget. Still things that could be improved creaky floorboards etc. Provided good value and would stay again

Nice clean hotel in centre of Berwick
Good atmosphere and staff great. Breakfast very good and cooked to order. Nothing to fault it.
2.5
Comfy hotel, convenient location, great stay and clean rooms. The hotel has facilities for dining and drinking so that is also great.
Free parking after 1800hrs in the adjacent train station parking. Be sure to leave before 0800hrs in the morning.
Super breakfast and staff are very helpful.

The saving grace at this poorly maintained and slightly dilapidated property was its Great British breakfast. With the reception unstaffed on arrival I had to run the gauntlet of a crowded and noisy "locals" bar which suddenly fell silent when this "stranger" strode through the door. One of the bar staff checked me into a room at the far reaches of the upstairs corridors. The room was small and cramped, but the bed linen was clean if a bit small for an average height sleeper. The bathroom (including toilet) was in what, in the past, must have served as a cupboard and as a result the only clothes hanging space was on a wall-hook. Wifi was poor even though the corridor was littered with boosters, but no worries next door's use of the tv was loud enough to keep me entertained. Car parking was in the street, unprotected, and was only useable as I was there after 6.30 and leaving before 8.30 next day. Breakfast was a facesaver, a nice and freshly cooked plate of food, served with a friendly smile in a clean breakfast room, with specially printed placemats telling the history of the hotel. Shame the rest of the building didn't live up to its noble past.

No cooked breakfast available due to a power issue. No offer of a discount. Would have been a reasonable gesture

A nice hotel just opposite the railway station, walking distance to town. A basic continental breakfast is provided and there are dining options in the bar

Good value.

Family room was nice and spacious. Breakfast was delicious and staff very friendly. Reception is not manned until later on in the morning which would have been useful to know beforehand.

Payed for 2 single bed rooms, when arrived there were no windows in the rooms just a skylight. Rooms didn't look clean . Checked out after 5 minutes. Friendly receptionist but couldn't get hold of manager Joanne when asked for a refund. Phoned a couple of times after we got home couldn't get her then either, then was told she was going on holidays for a week. Managed to get a £50 voucher from Expedia. Very poor, bad experience. Felt so bad for my mum as this was a birthday present .

Really nice hotel

Booked a single room was like a cell no windows except a skylight. Found out when checking out that the window could have been opened by a member of staff. This was not mentioned when checked in. I have asthma resulting in poor sleep due to lack of ventilation. Checked out early 6am. Staff very helpful assisted me with bags to room.

One night stay on a single room.
Room better than other single rooms i have stayed in.
The breakfast that was included in the price was cooked fresh and was hot and plentiful.
Nice comfortable stay i would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again.

Great location, friendly staff and lovely breakfast

The single rooms are not as advertised, the photos on Expedia are not what you get. The room was literally smaller than a prison cell, the bathroom almost impossible to get into. No window, just a skylight. Wi-Fi never worked from the room

Friendly staff, quiet, and easy access to train station.

Lovely location right by the station and historical links to Berwicks past. But as a solo traveller i was given a poor room with fixed window about 3m above the floor so you can see out of it and doesnt give much light really. The walls were very thin and the light floods in under the door. But all managable (possibly not for the price).
I was less impressed at breakfast when i wasnt allowed to sit at a table in the sun as it was set for two people. It wasnt busy. And the solo set tables seems to be in the corner as some form of punishement. The food was good bar the quality of the egg.

This is a basic but pleasant hotel. The room was clean and functional and there was a good breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very handy for the train station, which is why we chose it.

As soon as we arrived & met the lovely Michelle we knew this stay was going to be brilliant she was so helpful & we were allowed into our room early to drop our luggage off. The room was amazing so clean with everything you needed provided (beverages, water, biscuits, toiletries, hairdryer, fan) & the beds were so comfortable we didn’t want to get up😃 breakfast was very good with cereal, fruit & yogurt offered plus juice & hot drinks & a delicious full English. Free Wi-Fi was very quick.Would highly recommend
