Nobody available during check-in. They sent a message via sms however, they didnt do this until we were at the hotel. The message contained a key code to get into the empty hotel but when we got to our room there was no key in the door. We phoned them.and they said just to use another room.with a key in the door....what a faff.

A very comfy room and the few staff we met were great. Breakfast was excellent and Heather was a gem!
A bit disappointing that the hotel is closed apart from the rooms and breakfast service. It’s not that evident when you book so maybe they should make it more obvious.
Parking was free in the car park 100 yds away but only for 24hrs at a time. So we parked there through the day and then moved the car to the street outside the hotel which has free parking from 17:30 to 09:00.
Our only concern was the fact one person left the front door open twice and with no staff at the hotel we felt a little vulnerable.
We would stay again though.

Step into David Copper Field’s apartment with his friend Steerforth. Enjoy a large English breakfast. Quiet night in this beautiful town.

Lovely little hotel, evening meal was fairly average quality but good value, drink options very limited, wine by the glass was expensive. Room was small but very comfy, and clean, shower facilities was great. Breakfast was superb! And would visit again just for the breakfast

Decided to stay here as we had previously had a lovely meal . Unfortunately restaurant is now a bar/ bistro with only basic pub food. As my husband is disabled and we had not brought his wheelchair with us we were stuck and could not go elsewhere. Also barmaid did not know what a bloody Mary was not had heard of lea and Perrin's to go in it!! Hotel fine but restaurant a great disappointment.

The staff were all fantastic and friendly. There was an issue with the tv's that needs sorting out. Breakfasts were very good and more than adequate. Its a Grade 2 building so has its quirks but en suite was clean and shower good. Rooms were a good size and heating good. Beds comfortable. A little noise at 6:30 with bin men but hey ho, time for a wee anyway. We had Room 1 and no problems

Well kept extremely olde pub hotel. Comfortable room and bed. Modern en-suite bathroom with a powerful shower. Fluffy towels and individual shampoo, conditioner etc. breakfast was excellent -choices of cooked breakfast ranged from poached eggs on toast to a whole fresh kipper and anything in between. A selection of cereals, yoghurts and fresh fruit , toast, juices coffee and tea. Well worth the money.

A nice and cosy hotel in the city center. Close to restaurants etc. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed for renovation when I arrived for a two days stay. Would have benefitted from a nice and warming fire in the stove. Nice personell, cosy room

Pleasant, helpful staff. Room was the smallest we’ve ever stayed in. Room door took two of us to open and the sliding door to the bathroom didn’t fully close.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was large and comfortable, a couple of very minor issues which we didn’t bother about but no doubt some fussy people would make an issue. The choice at breakfast was excellent and again the staff were happy to make sure you had everything you wanted. The evening meals are fabulous, the food is so good and so well presented we didn’t bother eating anywhere else, highly recommended. Again the staff were on hand with a friendly, helpful and speedy service.

Cath had a lot to do and had to close the kitchen as water damage to equipment. She supplied an enormous German breakfast of cold meats, cheese etc far more than the miserable French version!

We had a good stay. The hotel was clean but basic. Staff were attentive and the food was good but expensive.
The hotel location was perfect for walking the town walls and free parking through the arches on the quay side
