About this cottage rental
680 sq. ft., 2-story separate structure on waterfront property, with sweeping Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier views. Beach access (down stairs/trail). The Loft has a queen bed plus a narrower (25' wide) daybed for child or small adult upstairs. Kitchenette, wood stove with wood provided. Barbecue, beach fire pit. Cozy, rural, quiet and comfortable!
The bathroom, eating space, kitchenette and wood stove are on the main floor and the sleeping area is upstairs in the loft. There is space to sleep at the beach in a tent in the summer. There are stairs to the south facing, Mt. Rainier view beach. Orcas sometimes visit, seals and otter pass by, and there are eagles perched in the trees most the time. The property is fairly remote, quiet and private, and the beach is lovely for walking.
The kitchenette consists of toaster oven, microwave, hot plate, crock pot and small refrigerator. The Sandpiper Restaurant at the Vashon Island Golf & Country Club is 6 minutes away. Thai, Chinese, Mexican, French & American restaurants in the town of Vashon, 15 minutes away. Minglement (at the corner of Cemetery Rd. and Vashon Hwy), the Burton Coffee Stand (written up in the NY Times!), and Cafe Luna (1/2 block west of the 4 way stop in town) have espresso, muffins, etc. The Vashon Tea Shop is a delight for tea drinkers and it is located on the east side of Vashon Highway near the Heron's Nest (a venue for local artists).
Firewood provided for the wood stove and there is electric heat as well.
Laundry service available at $10/load. There is currently no laundromat on the island.
There is a barbecue outside and a fire pit at the beach, should the weather permit.
We will be here to greet you or have the door code available for you if we aren't. We have a friendly dog and free range chickens and ducks peck around in the garden and our fluffy, lazy cat lies about the yard surveying his territory.
Rural, peaceful with a spectacular view of Mt.Rainier. Other than our house, there are no visible neighboring houses. We have horses that pasture next door, Point Robinson lighthouse park and a marine park for beautiful hikes and picnics. The hammock is up in the summer and there is a fire pit at the beach - there are burn bans due to high fire danger from time to time, so check with us prior to lighting any outdoor fires.
Vashon is a great place to explore on your bike. The nearest bus is about 3 miles away. The 119 Metro Bus (to Dockton) serves that stop. If you need a ride to/from the bus, let us know in advance and we will likely be able to pick you up there, or bring your bike on the bus and ride another 3 miles or so to the Loft.
THINGS TO DO:
Visit the Vashon Chamber of Commerce website for a listing of things to do on the island. There are art , garden, solar, farm tours, Strawberry Festival, wineries, a distillery, bike trails, equestrian events, fishing, hiking trails, beach combing, picturesque Point Robinson Lighthouse tours, Island Center Forest or Dockton Park Trails for mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking or jogging. Kyaks can be rented at Burton Beach, and the water there and at Dockton Park gets warm and is very swimmable in the summer. Horses can be boarded nearby, riding lessons or trail rides can be arranged and riding on the beach is wonderful and if you have a horse, we have stabling available. If you have your own kyaks that are light weight and easily carried, they can be launched at the beach, although it is quite a distance down to the beach.

Lovely spot on Vashon Island with a beautiful garden and path to the beach. Loved everything about the place and a really quiet and peaceful spot. The only notes: The listing noted a hot tub (and definitely did not have one) and we had a little double booking issue that arose in which the owner swiftly made accommodations for the other couple that arrived and was just as confused as us.

This is a perfect escape place that's incredibly peaceful and surrounded by beautiful gardens and open space areas. The Puget Sound views are totally stunning featuring Mount Rainier as magnificent visual element. So very lovely!
The indoor spaces are very relaxing with unique rustic charm abounding. Well equipped with pretty much everything our family needed for a special get-away.

This was a a great place for our stay on Vashon. The kitchen is well equipped. Bed was comfortable. The host is super friendly. The gardens and view are just wonderful. There was a very active bird feeder for some awesome nature tv. A very steep trial that takes your right to the beach. Note the location worked for us because it was close the reception but this is on the furthest south east corner of Vashon. Overall great place to stay.

"Highly recommend to everyone. I actually to write a review. It's such a wonderful and beautiful that I'm worried nature might be destroyed if too many people come. The owner's friendly service, beautiful beach, clean and cozy atmosphere, everything was great."

This place was perfect for two, we had lots of fun exploring the attached beach and admiring the style of this place, very nice open sunroom and pretty private from neighbors!

The property was incredible! I would definitely recommend! It was great for us, but just make sure to read all of the information before you go (STEEP stairs down to the beach, loft style so the bed was upstairs and bathroom/kitchen/everything else was downstairs oh and there is no AC, but we went in August during a "heat wave" and it was just fine!) Nothing is wrong with those things, they are just good to know before you go in case in it an issue for your needs. The views are 100% worth it and the place was clean, beautiful and had everything we needed!

The property is incredible and the host, Lisa, was gracious. The online pics don’t capture the majesty and beauty of the property. Vashon Island offers plenty to see and do for a low-key getaway with great food and friendly people.

My 2 kids and I had the best time. The beach, the hammock, wandering the property. Super cute and cozy. We will be back!!

Property and home were wonderful, great beach area to use. Very quiet, mostly private with exception of no ability to prevent others enjoying the outside area to not see you down stairs, especially when coming out of the bathroom in a towel.
The only off thing is that we were charged an extra fee to bring our infant son with us which we’ve never had happen before after staying at many places.

As we drove in we could tell this was going to be a special stay. We were greeted by a young buck and all sorts of birds. The interior was simply breathtaking… from the beachy rustic decor to the view of he water and Mount Rainer.
As we sat on the benches near the bluff we were amazed by all the birds from humming birds, herons and bald eagles.
If you’re up for the trek down the rustic stairs there are chairs, hammocks and even a lounging bed!
If you decide to book this place you won’t be disappointed! We’ll be back without a doubt.

The beach access, lawn and sweeping views are the main reason we chose this location and we were not disappointed. The bungalow is cozy, clean and uniquely appointed. We didn't let the minimalist kitchen and a few dated features stop us from taking full advantage of the whole property (beach, lawn, views, wildlife, etc.) Already looking forward to coming back -- perfect setting for a true PacNW getaway.

The property was clean & as advertised. Adorable antique and unique decorations. The view and the private beach area were unmatched. It is always hard to find access to beaches and away from others, so with this, you have your own! Exactly what I was looking for. Have to be able to climb stairs to access it. The inside is definitely on the small side but not a problem if you are going to be out & about.

Welcoming and relaxing. Loved being able to walk down to the beach and make a fire and roast marshmallows.

The loft house was beautiful and the view unforgettable! The property was perfect, about a 15 minute drive to most of the restaurants/shopping on the island. It is a steep hike down to the water, but worth it.

This is a very special property, very nice location. Was a wonderful experience and everyone that goes to this property will be very satisfied

The loft house is very cute and inviting, with lots of rustic touches like beds and bookshelves made out of reclaimed wood. Best of all the host went out of her way to take my 6-year-old up to her stable and lead her around the pasture on both her full-sized horse and her miniature horse. My daughter had the time of her life riding these gentle horses bareback, and she spent the rest of the trip staking out the barn. She also enjoyed chasing the chickens around the yard.

This stay was incredible! Lisa was accommodating and communicable, and overall such a pleasure to have a conversation with. He property is gorgeous, so clean, and I absolutely fell in love with this little cottage style loft. It can be a little confusing to navigate the area but she gives very detailed directions. Lots of animals will visit you, you get views of Mt Rainier, it's a great place to unwind. I'm seriously so upset that we only did one night! We used it as our "luxury recovery" after a long road trip of camping and backpacking around Washington. Quick note for Vashon interested travelers though- if you want to do stuff around the island, be mindful of the days of the week you go! We were there a Thursday night so not many places were open, or they closed earlier in the evening before we had a chance to get to them, some of the restaurants had limited hours during week days and places like wineries and guided horse back trails weren't operating when we were there. Also, if using the ferry, get on line for the ferry early, because even if you buy your ticket, if they reach capacity before you make it to the loading dock, you have to wait for the next ferry.

This place has such amazing views and a wonderfully decorated interior. Waking up to the view of the water was spectacular (however of note, if you don’t like rooster alarm clocks at 7:00 am, this is not the place to stay). We thoroughly enjoyed all the critters…chickens, ducks, chipmunks, birds, deer and horses on the property. The host Lisa was very easily reachable for questions.

There were a few hiccups with the arrival/check-in process, but the property owner was incredibly gracious & helpful in getting them resolved quickly (surely not a normal situation, and nothing that would deter me from staying again). The property is stunning! The gardens, outdoor space & water views are truly beautiful. Wildlife everywhere! Deer, chickens, ducks, birds, surround the area; it’s truly a getaway from city life. Definitely bring earplugs & an eye mask if you’re a light sleeper (the neighboring rooster enjoys announcing each new morning just outside the bedroom windows, and the bedroom area fills with light at sunrise). It was a perfect spot for a solo, quiet break from the noise & activity of normal life. Would absolutely stay again!

This was our first vacation as a family with a newborn & Lisa made it the most memorable experience. The property is absolutely breathtaking & the details in the home are perfect. For the older kiddos, she let them see/touch her animals (the fresh eggs were the best addition to our breakfast) & they loved the ability to roam in from of the home as well as be a quick walk to the beach. We lucked out & had sun in June for our stay! I would absolutely recommend it & stay again!

The cottage and property were breathtaking! A wonderful getaway for our anniversary! Transportation is not prevalent but we found a local taxi after inquiring since we didn’t have a car.

We stayed here one night for my mom's bday. The loft is so cozy and cute. The location is amazing. Beautiful views of Mt. Reinier right from the backyard. It sleeps 3 people comfortably but 4 is a tight squeeze. Highly recommend staying here.
