Good for one night but not a weekend getaway type of place. Room was nice and clean, but the bed tilted towards the headboard.
Breakfast was mainly the bread group with some odd flavors of yogurt. Not for a gluten intolerant person.

The room was very gross. Several long black hairs and some sort of purple stain were on the sheets and makeup/body oil stains on the pillowcases. I asked for clean sheets and when I got back to the room, the second set of sheets were also dirty, this time several larger black stains. I got a 3rd set of sheets that were finally ok. The window had a big crack in it and it looked out onto a cement ares with empty beer cans, etc. The bathroom door had a bunch of dirty hand marks and the sink had a big crack in the sink surround. I tripped on the laminate floor in the room because it was buckled so badly and coming up. The front desk staff was nice but I would not recommend this hotel anyone because of how dirty it was.

The hotel is not bad considering the cost. Really, only issue is that the hotel is in need of upgrades. Friendly staff.

I wrote up quite a lengthy review in advance - but I'll try to keep it brief.
I booked a jacuzzi tub room as a business stay for 2 nights as I worked a 14-hour day in Ames on day 2. When the room is so awful that I opt to just do the 4 hour drive home after that work day, rather than take advantage of the room the 2nd night - that's a problem.
The knobs on the tub were busted, but didn't offer any controls anyway. The one control knob to run the jets was on the other side of the wall, out of reach of even standing in the tub. And the jets literally only lasted 3 minutes. It only functioned as a large tub. Huge cracks in the wall. Light bulbs out. Exposed sink pipes. Exceedingly thin and nearly worthless towels, plus hardly any in the room at all; they're hotel pool towels.
Realized the night stand electric panel wasn't working, moved the night stand and the outlet cover is broken and half exposed. A new cover costs $0.15 and takes 90 seconds to replace. Then I noticed the cables were covered with thick clumped dust bunnies. Super gross.
The biggest sketchy part though, is during check-in for my pre-paid room, the deposit charge came out to $159.10 - with no explanation. Should've only been $100 flat. Reached out to hotel support, no response yet. Worried I'll have to dispute the charge with my bank.
I'm not easy to disatisfy with hotel rooms; I've seen them all. I don't typically leave reviews unless they're positive, but this was the worst I've been to in years.

The staff was friendly, and the lobby was well kept. The room needed some work. The jetted tub did not function and the shower has almost no pressure whatsoever. There were 2 TV's, one mounted to the wall, and one placed in front of it on the dresser, neither worked. The one that did have power was stuck on AccuWeather. The room could have been a little cleaner. The bed sheets had long hair on them, definitely not mine, and the tub had hair buildup as well. The room overall wasn't terrible but it could use some updating.

The overall hotel needs updating
Rooms were not a clean as they should. Dust around ac units, bathroom vent hanging dismounted from the ceiling.
Rust in the corner of the tub.

You don't get a lot of amenities with a sub-$100 room these days. I don't expect much more than a clean comfortable bed, choice of pillows, clean bathroom, hot coffee and an air-conditioned that will go down to 64 degrees. I got all that and the staff was very pleasant. This was my second or third stay.

4 stars because TV Remote Control wasn't working (r.413) but everything else was fine. Very clean. Internet, A/C, and hot water, all working as expected. Very polite management.

Not able to shut the bathroom door, A/C barely worked, shower bar fell off, tv did not work, mold on the lamp shade and on the ceiling.

The power cords to the side table lamps were severely damaged, bent, and one of them the ground was busted off in the socket, while it was barely plugged in, pinched behind the bed that was also broken. The beds sprigs were completely shot. Now let’s move on to the absolute filth that I found under the bed where my head would be, old used food wrappers, and a huge bag of chewed on pistachio shells. Then there’s the stains on the mattress cover, the hoes in the walls and paint that had been scraped off the walls, moldy caulk and zero seals around the main door.

There's a reason this was one of the last available rooms in Ames due to a convention in town. The crickets on the linoleum floor were easy to catch before I laid down on the moist bed to rest, decided to get up, get my bag and sleep in the car.

Last night around 11:30pm I made a reservation, but after I completed it I noticed it changed the intended location. I was trying to make the reservation for Salt Lake City, but it was done for Ames in Iowa. We called the hotel and they told we need to fix this problem with expedia. Once I call expedia they told me:
Alright. As I see, the hotel policy states, "The room type and rate selected are non-refundable. Should you change or cancel this reservation for any reason, your payment will not be refunded." Now They have stolen me vile, for the two sides washed their hands in the matter

Quiet for the most part. My room had part of the ceiling falling in just inside the door but other than that it was good

The first room they tried to put us in, the a/c didn't work, plus the bathroom door would stick on the floor when trying to close it. It wouldn't close all the way. The second room had the same problem. Finally, the third room was okay. The a/c worked and the shower was good. The quality of the entire room, in my opinion, was sub-par. I won't stay in another Red Roof Inn.

Housekeeping staff woke us when not wanted. Room smelled like mildew. Otherwise it was fine, especially for the price.

It was fine for a one night stay.
It met the customer’s expectations.
Would stay there again for a single night at that price

The lobby and hallway reeked of a cologne smell, as if other smells were trying to be masked. There were hairs on the pillows, and the bathtubs was filthy. The room had a strong mildew smell.

All of the pillows were extremely flat.and matresses were uncomfortably soft

The property is 'run down.' Outside and Inside...it is just plain run down! Poor TV connections. We needed to ask several times and finally going to another room to get TV receptivity. Outside(run down concrete; landscape, etc.) and Inside the same. I doubt that the property has had any capital expenditures in the recent past...at all.

Quick overnight stay with our dog. The building had updated outside appearance and it was clean with friendly check in. The bed this time however needed a new mattress, you could feel the springs and heat them every time you moved. This is our usual go to spot to stay at when we travel north and don’t remember then being this bad. I would stay again but request a better bed.

Great price, for a dog-friendly hotel. Very comfy beds. Property is getting a bit worn down, and you won't mistake it for the Waldorf-Astoria, but it has what you need for a good night's sleep at a reasonable price. I've stayed here before and I'll stay here again.
