Planned family 2 room stay at Island Grand at Tradewinds. Despite the lobby seeming relatively nice we were shocked at the incredibly poor condition of the property. Clearly they had not recovered from recent hurricanes, and several of the restaurants were closed. The overall poor condition cannot be completely blamed on the hurricanes as it was clear the property had not been well maintained for some time. It looked nothing like the pictures and the rooms themselves were not clean, in disrepair and felt more like a cheap motel. We spent a short time at the property and knew we couldn't stay the night and left. The only positive I will give is that the refunded most of our stay (not the resort fee or the parking).

Leaking roof, no wifi, broken ice machines, out of service elevators

"We got you!" was the welcoming reply to my - at times very individual mom-travelling-with-two-kids - questions upon our arrival and it persisted as the Island Grand at TradeWinds' wonderful agenda for our whole stay:
Everything was being cared for - from the perfect "organize your own home" room amenities, over the fantastic bars & restaurants on location, to the great fun for kids & adults alike on the water slide, the zip line & the wonderful beach with its comfortable cabanas.
I will never forget how the whole lobby (guests & staff) applauded when I was so happy that Josh (I hope I remember your name correctly :)) returned my wallet that I had left on the counter.
Thanks a million Island Grand at TradeWinds for these fantastic gulf coast memories - we cannot wait to be back at this perfect family location!

Island Grand had a lot of pool space for my family to swim and the beachfront was awesome. The staff was friendly. There was only one main elevator working, the stairwells had a strong mildew odor and were not cleaned. My room also smelled of mildew and there was constant water on the bathroom floor( not from the toilet).

Good resort need some updates in the room

Beach, pools, waterslide and zip line were great for the kids. Only 1 working elevator for a large resort. The elevator was extremely slow so we walked 5 flights of stairs most of the time. On our 1st night the room across from us had a drunk person that was having a meltdown from 1:30-3:30 am. It was so bad they caused damage to their room. The resort never apologized or acknowledged the incident to us, even though we brought the issue to their attention.

Overall the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Property was nice, but could use updates. THREE problem areas: 1) had one of the primary elevators out of service the entire stay and two others that were working and not working sporadically leading to extremely long waits for an elevator. 2) had to wait 1 1/2 hours PAST check in for one of the three roooms & booked for the week - with not apologies or compensation for our trouble; also one of the three rooms had a jammed door that was neaerly impossible to open or close (it was a safety hazard and a physical hazard for us to use) After unsuccessful attempts to fix, we had to pack up and move rooms. 3) by far the worst, on one of the evenings we were dressed for family photos and a very nice dinner. It happened to be pouring rain at the time and the two elevators that when to the main bldg were both not working at the same time. We wanted to walk-thru the breezeway to avoid getting wet and were stopped by three hotel workers. One in particular was very rude, unprofessional and ultimately dismissive to me. I tried explaining what we were trying to do - he didn't want to hear it, turned his back to me and ignored me from that point on. When we finally figured out a way to make it to the lobby without getting wet (we had to figure it out for ourselves) I went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager - only to find out that the person who had been so rude and disrespectful to me earlier was in the manager!

Very nice and close to the beach!

I liked that everything was right there. Beach was beautiful. I didn’t like the pool area. Main pool area was dirty, drains didn’t work and it smelled like sewer. I also didn’t like that you pay a daily resort fee, but still had to pay for so many amenities on the property. Everything you wanted to do cost extra, including if you wanted beach chairs or cabanas. Our TV didn’t work and AC went out. Maintenance fixed, but still it was annoying.

I was not satisfied with my stay at your facility August 31- September 2, 2024. There were several things at your resort that made my families stay less than pleasant. There were only 2 sets of elevators, each time we took them there was an average wait time of 7-15 minutes. One of them was out of order part of the time we were there. One of my family members got stuck in the elevator, which was very hot with no ac which could have lasting effects on their asthma. We heard from at least two other families that of one of their family members got stuck in the elevator as well. There were German roaches on the property, in other's rooms and in the hallways. One would think with the amount of money your facility brings in, they would be sprayed for and not be an issue on a busy holiday weekend. Another huge disappointment was the inability to get food delivered to our room by any of your on-site restaurants. I feel that with the cost for two rooms for two nights including a 240 resort fee, the least I expected was to be able to get food delivered to our room. My family and I flew 1800 miles to stay with your resort, unfortunately we will not be recommending it or be back.

Elevators are slow, very crowded and hot. Also got into the elevator one night and there was dog poop on the floor.

All but the far elevators were out of service. We were at the farthest possible location away. Arriving at night being directed through limited lighting on brick courtyard my suitcase wheel caught something and caused me to trip and end up in hospital for diagnostics. If the inside elevator was in service, I would not have been in that situation. Every time we wanted to go anywhere it was a long wait for an empty elevator. I was unable to use the stairs after my fall. On top of that our door was not locking and was opening without need of the key. It was repaired (bad battery reported) and in addition a small child or baby was crying that we could clearly hear through the walls or glass on balcony.
I heard many other guests complaining on the elevators also saying no one wants to come back there again. This is not the experience that a person wants or expects when paying so much.

I recently celebrated my birthday with family at the Island Grand - Tradewinds Beach Resort, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was top-notch. A special shoutout to Shpresa at the front desk check-in, who truly went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. When we encountered a minor issue with our original room, she quickly upgraded us to a beautiful poolside suite that made our celebration even more memorable. The entire staff was friendly and attentive, making it a stay we'll never forget. The pool entertainment, music, and games were super fun as well. It was nice having several restaurants right next to the pool and within walking distance to choose from. Highly recommend, especially if you have young children!

Many of the elevators were out of service, water damage was evident. Rooms were clean but in need of cosmetic repairs. DJ/ entertainment at the pool was really fun and engaging. Well kept beach area.

While the rooms are a little tight for a family of 5, I found the staff and the managers very helpful to maximize our stay. They were able to propose a slightly larger room with a balcony to better fit the needs of my family. Overall, we had a great time.

The description should read ‘view of the hallway ‘ for the deluxe king room. Not even a view of the parking lot. Elevators were not working in part of the building so a constant wait to use the elevators.

We love the beach and the overall stay. The pool was small and crowded. The $55 a day fees are not really worth it. The elevators are very slow and take way too long to go up and down. The Air conditioning in my room worked one day. The first day it was 80 in my room I called and they fixed it the next day then the third day it was back to 80.

Tradewinds Island Grand was the fourth hotel/resort I've visited in St Pete beach in the past 16 months. I considered this property to be the nicest in the area (after The Don Cesar). While the location is great and the room better than expected the customer service was by far the worst I've encountered.
The front desk was not very welcoming to start. Parking was packed and an employee almost hit my car flying through the crowded parking area in his gold cart. Getting keys from the Blue Green Vacation Club is always a hassle. However, they should know when to sell and when to just hand over the keys. Not only were they unfriendly but they gave us keys without adding the name of the building. We of course went to the wrong building which was under construction.
The young cabana attendants seem like they hate their jobs. They took the support pole at 5:35 on Sat evening instead of 6:00 and then didn't arrive to open the cabanas on Sunday until 9:35.
The service I received at the other 3 resorts I would rate and A or B and TWs was closer to a D or F.

I really wanted to like this property, but it's clearly struggling with upkeep. As many of mentioned in other reviews, the interiors haven't been updated in many years and cleanliness (e.g., mold in the bathroom tiles) is an issue. I also observed significant mold on the underside of a crib sitting out in the hallway, which was alarming. Balconies are very small and not for sitting and, yes, there will be smokers out there anyway. The internet only works in certain areas of the room. Our family staying in another room had TV issues that took an engineer almost 4 hours to resolve; they finally requested another room and were settled in at 11:00 pm. We were there following Tropical Storm Debby and a number of amenities were not working including floating park and zipline (mechanical issue). Lots of added costs with ancillary things like kids' activities, drinks, and parking. The parking lot is a mess with construction equipment and materials thrown everywhere. The pools have zero shade with the exception of the Oasis Pool at RumFish (worth checking out) and only 3 rentable cabanas (sold out). Restaurants are small and also not particularly clean. I was worried about the timeshare pitch, but that was pushed minimally with one mention at check-in unless we wanted a "tour." Signs everywhere say no outside food and drinks, but folks were bringing coolers of beer since prices were so high at the bar. Staff we encountered were ALL helpful, nice, and eager to please!

The sofa bed that my children slept on is terrible, they have back pain. I asked to change the sofa and they put in two single spring beds that were worse than the ones they had. I do not recommend it if you have to use the sofa bed.

Perfect stay!

The hotel is quite old and it feels dated. It is poorly maintained - furniture not working properly/ toilet kept flushing itself/ loud air con pipes. The 2 bed villa we booked was sp loud with the vibrations from the air con we had to move rooms after the first night. The second room we were in was fine, although the main door to the room was exposed to the elements, but not sealed properly around the door, so when the inevitable tropical storm came, the water came in under the door, soaking the bedroom carpets. We had to move our son to the sofa bed in the kitchenette for the night because his bedroom carpet was so wet.
The location is lovely though- right on the beach, and lots of activities available

We liked the Beach and the Dolphin Cruise. We did not like being stuck outside our room without power, having our water shut off, and having to request our room cleaned first 3 days.
