We have stayed here before, so I already kind of knew what to expect. You don’t get all the bills and whistles that you would with a large chain company But it’s a nice clean home like feeling. No early check-in options so make sure that you’re aware of the time. Most rooms have a fireplace and a balcony and a pretty nice view. Would definitely stay here again.

Glorified motel with a superior breakfast.
Overpriced for caliber of room.
Paid upper tier, given lower tier.

This business is in a nice location. The room was large and the bed was comfortable, but we were disappointed to find long blonde hairs from a previous guest in both the shower and under the pillows. There was an ice machine nearby, but we were only supplied with plastic and paper cups for a hot or cold drink. We headed to the local thrift (charity)store and purchased some glassware which we donated back when we were leaving. There was a heated pool and spa which even had access for people with disabilities but my partner didn't pack swimwear. We felt the accommodation was not up to the standard for the price we paid.

It was a great experience

The front desk staff was rude, but otherwise it was seamless and easy to check in.

They said we could call and see if we can check-in early, then they said to show up at 230p. No one was at the check in desk for 40 min. We decided to leave and check in late.

The only redeeming quality was the location and proximity to the beach. There must be a big difference between the cottages and rundown lodge, because some of the positive reviews and photos on the site are not what we experienced. The room was on the “first” floor which really felt like it it was underground because of having to go down a set of stairs to access the room. It was dark and in desperate need of some TLC. Walls were scuffed and dirty, and there were some dead bugs on the walls. The fitted sheets didn’t stay on the mattresses and other bedding was just okay. The room backed up to a cemetery. And the breakfast they advertise was a paper bag with cheap muffins, a granola bar, a piece of fruit and bottle of juice. Honestly, we felt duped from what is represented on the site. Maybe the cottages are nicer but overall would not recommend and would not stay here again.

The stay was & ok but the place can use some TLC upgrades & a ceiling fan..the room was warm so we purchased a small fan & it helped us sleep better..

Nice room and location but the room needs some work. Walls need painting, funky caulking repair on the shower curb. It needs some maintenance.

The stay was horrible it does not say when booking that you will be staying right next to a cemetery with nothing blocking it. Costumer service was not too good person at the front desk was rude

We thought the place was nice. We stayed on the cottage side and had a king bed and the room had all we needed. TV worked, water got hot, fairly quiet weekend, convenient to Golf course and nice short walk to Asilomar State Beach. Had really nice fire pits and seating. The hot breakfast included in our room price was decent. We love that we could bring our 60lb. Pit mix and they are pet friendly. Short drive to Carmel and Monterey. We would stay again for sure.

Did not realize it was a few feet from a cemetery

This place was awful. Maybe the bigger cottage rooms are good to stay in but their smaller rooms near the entrance were so bad we left after about two hours. There’s no privacy for those rooms. Extremely dirty with broken parts of the wall. No screens on the windows we had until they removed a screen from a different room they wouldn’t let us move into instead. Disgusting smell in the room, probably due to how dirty it is. The bed had zero support and made the cartoonish noisy spring noise whenever you moved on it.
When we tried to cancel and get our money back, the manager refused to give it to us and he lied to Hotels.com about how long we were in the room as part of his refusal. Thankfully Hotels.com took care of us despite the manager’s inappropriate display of customer service.
Again you might have better luck with cottage rooms. Maybe they’re inhabitable for more than two hours. The staff was very nice despite how unacceptable the room was. It’s just the manager lied to try to save his money. I would not have left a bad and honest review like this if he hadn’t lied.

First time here. Staff was helpful, friendly and very accommodating. Our room faced a cemetery but it was actually beautiful to wake up and go to sleep to beautiful deer right out our patio door. Pool was very warm too :)

Check in was a little shaky but after that was great

Reservations were not as the website described. The pictures on the website did not match what the room looked like in person. The hotel (cottage) smelled bad. The bedding, curtains and carpet looked old. The lighting in the room was also dark. It looked creepy and scary. The outdoor premises were not well kept and dirty. The pool area was not inviting either. It was lonely. The room next to us had a dog that would not stop barking. All of the above would not make our stay pleasant and had to check out right away. The website also stated that continental breakfast is included but front desk clerk directed us to the nearest restaurant due to continental breakfast not served at site. False advertisement. The hotel had pre-made brown sack lunch bags with your continental breakfast snack. Who knows what was in there. Definitely not recommended. Oh and we also found out after checking out that the hotel is right next to a cemetery. The room definitely matched the ambience of a cementary at night. If you are looking for a halloween kind of night then this is the right place foryou. But if you are looking to be refreshed on your vacation then please dont walk, run from this place. Totally false advertisement and a waste of your money. So sad because the reservation was not cheap. Hotel.com should be more careful what hotels are posted on their website. Total disappointment.

Absolutely gorgeous property with a little ocean view. We had our own studio and thought the accommodations were amazing for the price!

The staff are very friendly and helpful and the location is excellent ! The rooms are good sized either a small patio or small balcony. The cooked breakfast is wonderful and a great value. You are a short and scenic walk away form the short Monterey Bay with beautiful views. If you like to golf, it's got to be the nicest municipal course you'll find...right along the water and within site of the Lighthouse Lodge!

For the price I expected more compared to other places I stayed this summer. There was no air conditioning and the shower handle did not work correctly. The bed squeaked too.

Our room was fine except for the issue with the shower, as water leaked through the shower door when taking a shower.

The check-in time was listed as 4:00 PM, but when we arrived at 4:00, we were told that the room was not ready.
We booked through Hotels.com and believed we had paid the entire total upfront. However, when we checked in with our dog, we were informed of an additional charge. To make matters worse, my credit card was actually charged more than the amount the staff mentioned, without any bill or explanation.
The booking indicated that breakfast was included, but when we arrived at the hotel, we were told that it was not.
Additionally, the reception lady, CJ, had an attitude that made the situation even more frustrating.

What a great hotel with large clean rooms and a great breakfast

The room was spacious, only basic local tv channels. The Breakfast bag was disappointing all sugar items. Slow to respond front desk was not helpful when trying to book an extra night. They advised that I had to book online. Then the rate went up $80 more. When I shared this with them, they didn’t do anything about it.

The staff was hard to get ahold of. On our check out day we called at 10am to ask if there was anyway we could stay an extra 15 minutes past checkout time as we were still trying to get ourselves and kids together. The response was “just be out by 11:30”. And while trying to say thank you, we were hung up on.

It was very weird experience very old rooms and cemetery outside our back door in the room

I don’t like that fact that the description of the hotel tells nothing about half of the rooms having a sliding glass window with no screen and divided by a tree overlooking a cemetery. I think there should be at least a mentioning of that “little” detail. Plus the wood door frame had rotting and missing wood at the base of the frame where it meets the bathroom tile floor because the shower door had a missing/broken seal at the bottom of the door allowing constant water to spill out onto the floor. We used most of our allowance of towels just to keep the bathroom floor from becoming a flood plain and slipping hazard for the kids. Also both the window that can open and the sliding glass back door with the “view” of the ocean if you looked past the cemetery and people visiting their lost loved ones had no screens on them so you couldn’t even open them for a cool ocean breeze without bugs coming in. The mini fridge in both our room and my mother-in-law’s room had cut off temp control knobs preventing you from adjusting the temp. This sucked the most because the fridge was stuck on Luke warm. We tried to put left over chowder and chips in the fridge but ended up throwing them away due to the worrying fact of food poisoning. I can see they try so “set” the temp to save money but this “adjustment” ended up ruining our food because it didn’t even work at all. I think they should take fridges off their amenities list on their site if this continues. Also the remote didn’t work.

Lovely Room, Comfortable Bed.

My toilet did not flush and my room was next to the pool. I could hear children screaming all day long. The room had a wall plug in air freshener with a strong odor that gave me a headache. I had to unplug it and put it in the bathroom.

Love this quiet location within a short walk to the water. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean is wonderful. We've stayed in this property several times and have enjoyed it.

**Review for Lighthouse Inn and Cottages**
I recently stayed at the Lighthouse Inn and Cottages and found the experience to be quite disappointing. Upon arrival at 4 PM on a busy Friday, the rooms were not ready. There was a line of 14 people waiting to check in, with only one staff member available to handle the process. This led to significant delays and frustration among guests. Despite the inconvenience, there was no compensation or effort to make up for the rooms not being prepared on time. The excuse given was that housekeepers had called in sick, which, while understandable, should not have impacted the guests' experience so drastically.
The WiFi at the inn was spotty and slow, making it difficult to stay connected. Additionally, the cable TV provided was old and antiquated, lacking smart capabilities that are now standard in most accommodations. This added to the overall sense that the facilities were outdated and not well-maintained.
The exterior of the property is also in need of significant repairs. It is run down and gives a poor first impression. However, if you stay in one of the cottages, a full-service breakfast is included, which was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing stay. The breakfast was really good and a rare highlight of the visit.
There were also issues with the plumbing in some units, where the hot and cold water were reversed, adding to the list of inconveniences.

Room was spacious. Pool was lovely and heated. Apart from those 2 things the hotel was not worth the money we paid. View from window was mainly trees which were directly outside with a golf course beyond. People walking past could see directly into our room so we had to keep the blackout curtains closed. Continental breakfast consisted of a small sticky muffin, a small cereal bar, an apple and small bottle of apple juice in a paper bag that you picked up from reception by 10am where you could also get a free coffee. No tea or any alternative hot drinks available. There was no house keeping and our room was not cleaned for our entire stay. I had especially paid extra for continental breakfast and found the grab and go breakfast bags very disappointing and definitely not worth the extra money I paid. Overall a very disappointing experience.

It was close to the places we wanted to see. Room was dark..only table lamps for lighting. Bathroom door blocked off the toilet. No real food service. A togo bag for breakfast. Not worth the money

I love this cozy hotel. It was very clean, the pool was warm, and the wooden couple swings are a fun addition looking over the tree lined grassy areas behind. I would definitely stay here again.

I do not like the fact that the hotel is next to cemetery. Complementary breakfast is a very simple to go bag of breakfast (feel like getting the free school lunch bag). Toilet is not working. The good things are walking distance to beach, get to see deer at the parking lot early in the morning.

I have never stayed in a hotel where I had to step into the shower to get the door to shut to use the toilet it was soooo small..... lady at the desk was sweet and loved the fireplace
