Hotel staff were all brilliant, super friendly and very down to earth. Room was good however small and we couldnt seem to fully the radiator off. There was air con tho. Bed was very comfortable. Good location for the seafront.

The room once it was available was lovely though we didn't really get to appreciate the 'Mews' setting as by the time the room was ready it was dark (90mins wait). The dinner and breakfast were both very nice, and the serve was good. I'd read the hotel had been refurbished but they obviously hadn't changed the carpets, which were very worn in places. Overall it was a relaxing stay

Usual pleasant stay. Marta at reception was very helpful

Very adequate for the stay i required.

Reception area ok rest of hotel tatty. Rooms very small and bathroom even smaller. Struggle to get in cubicle . Breakfast self service , plenty of choice but luke warm. Overall hotel very dated , eg odd pictures up in corridors just to cover over marks etc. we paid with vouchers so value ok but would have been disappointed if paid full rate

Very friendly service everywhere. Excellent breakfast. Older hotel w charm. I booked the smallest room for 3 day trip and as fairly big guy it was a mistake :) Shower so small that i was barely fitting myself in. But the room is ok if you just need a bed for the night. Room itself was clean and bed comfy.

An enjoyable stay at Mercure Brighton. Friendly staff & comfy quiet room, which looked recently decorated. Mercure and Hotels.com also allowed me to alter the dates on a non-changeable booking without charge, which I was extremely grateful for and deserves a mention & thank you. If I had to find a fault it would be that there was only one double plug socket in the room, which isn't ideal, but the hotel is a very old building so I do understand. Hotel car park is notably cheaper than nearby Regency Square public car park, so try to park at hotel if possible. Overall very impressed with Mercure and Hotels.com & would stay again.

Enterence to the hotel was terrible - dirty doors and glass on doors. carpets were old and dirty all around reception area and all the way to my room in Mews. There was hardly anyone attending the reception. It isn't obvious to guest where reception area is.

It is a beautiful period property in a great location. But, it is very poorly maintained. Carpets are threadbare; my room smelt of damp or mould and I left the window open and went for a walk for a couple of hours to air it. Carpet in the bedroom had noticeable stains. Corridors were not well hoovered - there were feathers from pillows for instance and in more than one area. I was very dissapointed in the condition and it's a shame to let such a lovely building go downhill. I was so put off by the condition and therefore ambiance that I ate elsewhere. The location is excellent and so were the staff.

Overall for a short stay it was fine. However, the room we had the wc flush was intermittent and the bedroom carpet had a number of bad stains, it just came across as a bit tired

Barry and Jacob on reception were just delightful!
Staff in bar were also friendly and helpful.
Yes the hotel is looking a bit tired , especially in the wing with privilege rooms, and carpets could do with replacing.
Overall a good stay.

I have stayed in quite a few hotels and I can honestly say this was the best for staff amenities meals and the room was perfect

On arrival we thought the reception area was very stylish! Barry on reception was the most welcoming and helpful person I've ever come across in all the places I've stayed around the world. Our room was ideal and the beds where very comfortable. Breakfast was good with a hot and cold selection and there was bread for toast and croissants, but no breakfast rolls! The staff in the breakfast room worked very hard to make sure everything was constantly supplied.we really enjoyed are stay and will definitely stay here again.

What kind, sweet staff, from young Eoin to the more experienced and knowledgeable older staff. It’s tricky to find hotels with double rooms and twin beds for adult /teen families so we were delighted to find them without being overcharged for something so simple. Breakfast was great too thanks.
It wasn’t far from the town or the beach, I felt like we had a good spot.

Ok room and nice staff. Slightly faded in places and breakfast limited with nasty coffee

I have travelled on business throughout the UK for over 20 years and it’s a sad fact but the standard of customer services seems to be in decline… well I am so pleased to say that is not the case here. Barry, Marta and the young lady on reception on her first day were Amazing! Bar staff too made my return stay as good as my first! Thank you

What a wonderful find right on the seafront and minutes from everything! Lovely staff on reception. Couldn’t do enough for you. Great room, very clean and tidy. It was a twin and the only gripe was the beds were made as a twin but pushed together as a superior bed.
Great they would hold bags before the room was ready and after we checked out so we could continue to enjoy Brighton. We didn’t have breakfast but smelled great. Lovely touch of free water in the boutique reception area. Thank you so much. We will be back!

Like many hotels in Brighton, the Mercure is fairly old, and you've got to expect it to have some quirks and oddities. Similarly, I was only staying one night, so I wasn't particularly bothered by the oddities as such.
However, there are a few things that stick in my mind.
I would have liked a sea view (kind of a selling point for a seafront hotel). Alas not. Alarm bells probably should have rung when I got a free upgrade to a double room. I'm curious about what my lower grade room would have been if this was the upgrade.
I was in Room 115, which faces the rear lightwell, and it has no real view to speak of, unless you like escape stairs, and seagull excrement. Not lovely.
The bathroom layout is very narrow and linear. If you're a larger person, avoid this room. The shower was a 700 x 700 cubicle. I accidentally turned the shower off when I was turning around, and I'm not a large person. Similarly, I had a to turn sideways to get past the washbasin to reach the toilet - my hips jammed against the wall otherwise. The toilet is on a step up from the main floor, and slightly hard to reach.
Overall, the staff were very nice, the food was good (I only had breakfast). The breakfast room is slightly awkwardly laid out, and slightly cramped but it was fine and they've made a decent go at it.
Overall, it was fine for a night and my visit was generally good. But this room really needs retiring - it's not great.

We were greeted by the excellent staff of Mercure Brighton. There was a confusion with the names but Barry kept us engaged and entertained throughout the check-in process. Eoin was a great help throughout our stay as well. The breakfast spread was very impressive too.
The only reason why I’ve deducted a star from the rating is because the standard rooms don’t have aircons. The room was therefore quite warm at night and the sleep wasn’t as great as I’d have wished for after paying north of £200 for the room. Everything apart from that aspect was perfect or beyond.

Lovely overnight stay in a great hotel

Very nice hotel right on the sea front. Visited for work and was in a van so parking was an issue, never got on hotel car park as it was full but parked on near by multi-storey at a rip off £32 a night, all brightons parking is silly money. Staff at the hotel were brilliant, man on reception desk who checked us in was brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us. I would stay again as hotel was lovely and close to the town.

Excellent check-in service by welcoming staff. Great location opposite the beach and near 360 viewing platform. 15 minute stroll to the pier. Room was clean and bed comfy. Parking on site is limited but reasonable price at £28 for 24 hrs or £18 if you join via app.

Great centrally located hotel. Exceptional friendly staff but could do with more of them at the front desks and queues were lengthy at check in and whenever I needed them. The telephone was never answered. Overall a lovely stay
