Beautiful classy hotel with amazing restaurant.
Close to walk to hospital and all the spring garden road attractions. Great location

Nice classic hotel in downtown Halifax. Had a suite facing a rather drab courtyard but this made the room very quiet. Bed decor amenities in room adequate. Bathroom was small. Had a nice lounge area- room was a suite. Hotel stands right across from a beautiful Victorian park- one of the finest park Ive seen in a while. Also within walking distance of the citadel & general downtown area. Generally all plusses here. Convenient parking next door with easy in- out

I was excited to stay at this hotel for its proximity to the waterfront and Public Gardens. The architecture is beautiful, and the lobby is truly a sight to behold. Unfortunately, this turned out to be the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced.
My partner and I were on the same floor as several guests from a wedding, and after the reception, many of them gathered in their rooms and in the hallway, continuing to party well into the early morning. They were slamming doors, shouting, and screaming throughout the night. Despite multiple calls to the front desk between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., the noise only increased, and the staff’s attempts to address the issue were ineffective, making it impossible for my partner and me to get any sleep.
The room was clean, and the bed comfortable; however, the lack of control over noise disturbances and poor responsiveness to complaints completely overshadowed these positives. Despite the significant disruption and lack of sleep, we weren’t offered any compensation, such as a refund or a complimentary night, which added to our disappointment. I would not recommend staying at The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites.

The room was very large and welcoming with lots of good quality amenities. Staff so pleasant especially in the dining room and food there of excellent quality. Our favourite stay on our American/Canadian holiday. One suggestion that would make it easier next time on check in is if they could have a lower desk as it was very hard to speak to staff and sign in with the high desk in reception when I was in my wheelchair.

Great location for downtown attractions. Pleasant staff. Room was adequate, not nearly as elegant as the lobby area. Typical of hotels of its era. Nice historic property.

Oldest hotel in Halifax, downstairs was beautiful, room was small. Parking was $28 per night. Busy traffic getting to/from hotel.

This is my second time staying at the Lord Nelson in Halifax. It’s my favourite Halifax property, the hotel has been nicely renovated, It is very clean and staff are terrific. It is situated conveniently right on spring garden road close to many amenities also a 10 minute walk to the waterfront and historic properties, 5 minute walk to the citadel and a 10 minute walk to SMU/DAL and Point Pleasant Park.

It is a nice old hotel. Our checkin at 6:45 pm had an issue of checking to make sure it was ready. The lovely lady on checkin did realize this was causing us some concern of what we were getting. Room was large & very quiet. It was a good stay, some quirky things just stops it from being 5 star. One quirk was 1 Lindt chocolate & 1 bottle of water dropped off in our room with note about next day weather.

Great hotel. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, excellent water pressure. The bathrobes and slippers were a nice touch. Great hotel bar and restaurant with excellent service from staff. Great location: adjacent to Public Gardens and plenty of casual dining options nearby. 15-20 minute walk to entertainment district and waterfront.
I would definitely stay here again.

I had a tiny room, but admittedly may have booked that without realizing it. The hotel is very nice, but the rooms are dated. There was no outlet on one side of the bed to recharge my mobile phone, the window was about 3 feet wide and the air conditioning came from what was essentially a window unit. Most notable, however, was the terrible wifi connection. Connection was weak and spotty. While working for a few hours I was disconnected 3-4 times.

Lord Nelson is centrally located. We walked everywhere. Comfortable and clean with old world charm. The breakfasts were great.

Beautiful lobby and a great location by the lovely Halifax Public Gardens. The room was comfortable, except for the traffic noise. For a fairly expensive hotel, the staff seem poorly trained, and with a bit of an attitude problem. Also, at over 300 dollars a night it would have been nice to have some whitener in the room for my coffee. Parking is expensive, considering that it is in the same shopping mall where I parked for most of the day at one sixth of the price the hotel charges.

We have been travelling for two weeks from Ontario and this is the best, most comfortable bed yet! Amazing sleeps. Comfortable room.
Bathroom needs a bit of an update or at least oil the bathroom door.

I booked two rooms for my husband and I and our friends, and my husband booked a room for his parents. Our friends arrived an hour earlier than us and they were able to get an early check-in.
But this later confused the front desk, because they kept making a mistake and assumed we were our friends (gave us keys to their room etc, had to ask for our cards to adjust payment for room etc) so that was a bit annoying to get organized, even when I tried to explain to them that I booked etc etc.
I admit parking was pricey. 28 CAD per day.
All in all it was a lovely stay, our room was cozy. Washroom was tiny but let’s be honest, we weren’t in the room much, as Halifax is a great city to explore.

We stay here all the time and this is the first non Five star I’ve had. The ONLY reason for the lower rating this time were the bed pillows. They seemed really hard and lumpy. We had a deluxe suite and the only other suggestion I would have would be some type of night lighting in the bathroom as it is a long and thin room with zero ambient lighting so if you get up in the middle of the night and don’t want to bother your partner by turning on the bathroom light, it’s very very dark. Other than that, it’s beautiful and five star all the way.

All the staff were friendly and helpful. There were always staff around the building if I had any questions. The room had a wonderful view, especially at sunset. The bed was comfortable and the AC wasn't loud. The room had 1.5 baths, which was unexpected. The bedroom curtains were a little annoying in that the AC discharge was blowing under them. I had to fold the bottom up onto the window sill. There 3 elevators and they all didn't cover every floor. Sometimes you had to get off one and catch another depending on which floor you were headed. The bottom floor to the garage is a bit convoluted. It took a few tries to figure it out.

We loved our stay here. we ate breakfast at the hotel, and it was great. the room was great, bedding and bed fabulous. the public garden is right in front of the hotel, so we went there several times. the nicest public garden I have been to. there is lots of stores and restaurants around, and the waterfront is just a few blocks, all downhill. so if you walk down, be prepared for a significant uphill walk back. just a few, blocks, but surprisingly steep.
