My husband and I had been to Carneros a couple times, but we recently brought our 5 year old daughter along and it was one of the best holidays we’ve ever taken as a family.
The resort typically feels like an adult space, so its ability to transform into a family friendly cozy spot is pretty remarkable. I appreciate how subtly they work in options and activities for kids while they maintain a quiet, peaceful environment.
We toured the property’s bee hives and gardens and were spoiled by COO Michael Ford there and then throughout the rest of our trip. We went on the Little Green Thumb garden tour with Chef Jeffrey Jake. My daughter and I had the most amazing afternoon with him while my husband enjoyed the spa.
We had anticipated needing to leave the resort throughout the long weekend to keep our daughter occupied, but there was so much to do and eat and enjoy onsite that we hardly touched our car. Everyone left the vacation relaxed, recharged and bonded. Also depressed since we didn’t want to go.
Thank you, Carneros, we can’t wait to see you again!

Love how kid and dog friendly the resort and staff are!

Beautiful resort. Our second stay there. However it is a bit outside of the valley.

The hotel and property was beautiful but with the cold season, we felt the temperature of large pools should've been adjusted to fit the season so we could enjoy it more to make our money worth. Our bed was not comfortable at all. We woke up being stiff for two days during our stsy.

Wonderful experience. Our concierge, Nina, was amazing. Farm restaurant was fantastic. Availability of hydration/drinks was limited. We loved our stay

Really disappointed for the first time coming here. Checked in with manager and asked for late check out as my gold status allows and was told yes and I had til 2pm to check out. My husband and I went up to pool/bar and came back at 12:00 and were locked out! Called manager and she said she knows I had late check out and would send someone with a key. The kid came opened the door and drove away? We still had 2 hours availability but now our keys didn’t work so we couldn’t go back to the poolside bar because we’d be locked out again! We packed and left room to go inside and tell the manager and she said it was an error but offered nothing to make it right. Also we kept smelling rotten food in bathroom and we opened cabinet under sink and the people who stayed in room before we arrived trash with food containers was stuffed under sink instead of maids throwing away? A 1000.00 a night room should never have this sort of mess ups. Makes me wonder if the room truly was Covid acceptance cleaned. So very disappointing as we love this place but manager should’ve offered compensation for the poor quality of service we received.

It could be a wonderful place. I needs a lot of updating. FARM restaurant is AMAZING!!!! Nice job. The Rooms need updating badly. The out door bath tub is incredible!!! Worth the stay alone! We soaked and watched the stars and a meteor shower it was wonderful. I hope they update the rooms - If so I will definitely be back

We’ve stayed at Carneros probably a dozen times over the decade and it’s always been a favorite. You can’t beat the grounds and charm. However we were very disappointed with the quality now for the price - no updates in 10+ years. The hill top hot tub wouldn’t be acceptable at a Hampton Inn much less a $1500+ a night resort. It’s disgusting. The tile is broken, it’s dirty and rusty, discolored and needs to be replaced. The mattress in our room was very old and had dip and valleys from years of use. Not a comfortable sleep. There were ants and human hairs all over our room, in the shower and the bed. Room was warn with dented, dirty walls and chipped furniture. TVs and room tech is very dated and needs replacement. Again, maybe acceptable for a $300 hotel but not for Carneros. Service was lovely and food and spa is great but really feels like ownership is squeezing blood from a rock trying to maximize profit without bothering to do needed updates. Sad that a favorite is loosing charm and status that could so easily be addressed with small updates.

Staff was not receptive to requests or needs when call made- it would take them 30 minutes or they never showed up when we had called for a wine opener! And it was not busy at this resort while we stayed. Room was dusty upon arrival. But beautiful hilltop pool and good service at their bar area!

Great stay….amazing food at Farm and attentive staff. Always a favorite.

Arrived and the bed looked liked it had been slept on. The entry pad didn’t work for any keys because the door had been locked from the inside and the back door was ajar, lock didn’t work. Went outside to take a sun bath, and there were drones flying over us! The heated floor in the bathroom reached extremely high temperatures and the thermostat didn’t work. Everything was reported, and hopefully fixed. Probably wouldn’t go back, but I’m sure others have had better experiences.

Carneros Resort and Spa has a lovely restaurant (The Farm), friendly staff and nice chalet style rooms. I've given up on the Spa (it's 50:50 whether they'll answer your emails) but there are plenty of alternatives in the area. We chose the "Suite" this time around which was a waste of money (actually just two, separate chalets). That said... we always enjoy our stay there and the treat of dining at the Farm.

Very nice property, but rooms are old and outdated. For the price I expected quite a bit more.

I loved the pool and the room that we stayed in. All was clean and well laid out.

The property is beautiful. Dining options were limited at times due to staffing issues.
Reception and Concierge staff were great.
Cottage was lovely but indoor seating for 2 would have been great due to the weather. There was only 1 chair in cottage.

The private cottages were incredible and the grounds were picturesque.

Simply amazing. Unlike hotels where you share walls between people, this is your own HOUSE - with a fireplace, backyard and indoor/outdoor shower in the back. The entire place is so unique, I just don't see how it compares to any other accomodations in the area.

Needs updating and new mattresses. Very uncomfortable and dirty room. Glasses were dirty and the amount of gnats in the room was unbelievable. Disappointed in the condition of a room at this price. The public area of property is nice. Room service was kind but the food wasn’t very good.

The property seemed short-staffed and was not responsive to requests.
2.0 / 10.0
Not-so-good. Rooms are very high priced so you expect the level of service to match. Really poor service at the restaurant although the food was high quality.

Gorgeous property. Fantastic guest services.
2.0 / 10.0
For a luxury property, our stay was disappointing. The grounds are beautiful and the pools themselves are lovely. But the service was far below par: we had unhelpful or snobby hostesses who explained that long wait times and a fully booked restaurant precluded sit down service even when the restaurant was half empty; waiting inordinately long times for wait staff to assist us at the pool even as they seemed to help others around us. Food was only so so with the exception of Farm (though see hostess comment). Amenities in the rooms were broken. And the lack of any shuttle service being offered to take guests to wineries across the active highway - all these things contributed to a very poor and disappointing experience, considering the amount of money that was charged for the privilege.

How clean and quiet it was. The cottages are so comfortable and beautifully decorated.

This was our second time staying at Carneros—while we love the location and the property, the service left much to be desired this time. When we checked in, the front desk let us know that someone with an American Express was in our assigned room with a special 4p check out time (4p is the check in time for guests in general). The hotel was also fully booked so when we arrived early at 12:30p, the front desk bumbled around trying to explain we probably wouldn’t get our room until 5p. Less than 10min later, they offered us a For a the nightly room price, here are the things I’d expect:

Beautiful property, very walkable, absolutely relaxing. Some facilities can use an update.

Quiet, peaceful, and intimate campus. 24 hr dining services. Local wineries arenxt very far from the resort and its 10 minutes from Sonoma, Downtown Napa, and Vallejo!

Amazing grounds and room. We had an issue with room smelling like sewage because the back door was left opened and the AC was on. We weren’t made aware this could be a problem but it was a known issue according to the engineer who inspected our room. They were clearly understaffed, the snack area at the family pool was mostly closed and we were tracking staff to make any orders - which isn’t a problem but when you pay those rates, you expect great service. We had better service at the Carmel Valley Ranch subsequently. We’d always wanted to stay at the Carneros Resort but I can’t say we’ll be back...we’ll likely try other resorts in the area.

This is a great resort with some incredible views and property that is extremely relaxing. It's a short drive, maybe 15 mins, from Downtown Napa. My wife and I enjoyed the hilltop view on couple of mornings for breakfast and drinks. Hilltop is definitely the prime spot on this property.I had read some reviews about service falling short of expectation when you stay in a luxury facility like this, and it is a hit or miss with service. Just depends who you get and the experience can vary. I do recommend this resort if you want a private relaxing experience, which the cottages provide.

To be honest ~ it was lovely but not worth the price
