This is the email I sent the property the next day. We had checked out a few hours after checking in, it was that bad. I thought someone would have called or emailed us by now. We haven't heard back from my email or my message here on hotels.com.
Good Afternoon,
Based on this email I'm going to assume you did not speak with your check in crew.
I would like to request a refund.
We checked in around 6PM. Got to the room, there was an awful odor in the condo. We opened the doors, and turned on the fan to air out the room. I took a quick shower, water wouldn't drain. We had a dinner reservation and didn't have time to address. We got back around 9/930. The halls smelled like pee and Marijuana. Even though we tried to air out the room, it still smelled like cheap dollar store powder carpet cleaner - everywhere. The water in the kitchen sink wouldn't drain. The sofa looks like it should have been replaced 5 years ago, we couldn't even sit on it, it was that gross. Everything was dated and in dire need of something. When we went to check out at 930PM (same night), the only thing the staff had to say was "oh no", no offer for a new room or maybe a move to your other facility? They were very nice and not rude, just not super helpful.
Thank you for your time and assistance,

Quiet area, resturants and grocery close by, property well maintained.

This was my 5th time staying at Horizon, property is starting to be a little worn down, still nice but could use some upgrades like fresh carpet and the furniture has seen better days.
4.2
We booked a room and it smelled like someone had recently smoked inside the room. We asked the manager if we could change rooms and they quickly obliged. Thank you

A couple of things that we needed help with but service was fast and they were quite friendly!

Honestly one of the worst stays of my entire life from beginning to end.
Let me start off by saying the Grand Shotes Hotel and Horizon on 77th are in a messy divorce and neither of them are very helpful. It’s like they don’t want to talk about their situation, leaving the customers totally unhappy and confused.
Grand Shores owns this listing.
You check in at their hotel but you stay at the one next door. Confusing process which cause check in to take nearly 90 minutes as we encountered rude person after person who didn’t know much.
After check in we found our room to 100% not be a ‘resort’. For the additional $45 resort fee - one would expect beach towels (for example). Nope!
Now comes some of the issues with the room...
You have control of the A/C within reason - when I got there the room was 76 and like a sauna, you can only lower it down to 68 degrees.
The coffee pot - broken.
The oven - didn’t close
Master shower - wouldn’t come out of the shower head.
2nd shower - base of the shower head rusty.
Beach chair on patio - looks like it’s seen 8 season.
Bed - could feel every spring pressing into my hip bone and ribs.
And now for the icing on the cake - a maintenance guy from Bluegreen who wasn’t suppose to enter the room came in to change the air filter - without knocking.
Discussed all of this with the night manager - he apologized and gave us a comp’d breakfast.
I wouldn’t recommend staying here - ever.

Nice lazy river and hot tub/pool. Quick walk to the beach and nice view. A little small for 5 people (3 young crazy hyper kids) but it worked
4.2
I enjoyed my stay. I would definitely be staying here when I return.
4.2
The rental unit was in terrible shape.... carpet torn, old sofas, mattress stained, dirty looking carpet....bad first and last impression.
EXPEDIA should not get involved with such units. Bad reflection on EXPEDIA.
4.2
Central and close to all services. Short walk to the beach.
Confusing getting around the buidings. Booked via Horizon but checked in at the Shores.
Housekeeping was excellent.
4.2
Love the layout. Nice view. Would definitely stay again! :) Lovely kitchen. Housekeeping brought up a baking pan I needed that was not already in the kitchen. Storage drawer in the stove was a bit tricky to close but no big deal. Both toilets kept running and maintenance worked on both but one continued to run. Probably should have called them back again. If that’s the worst thing to happen life is grand!

Stay here for the second time in 2 years. Location is very good. The suite is spacious. Kitchen and supplies are very useful. Sofas condition has deteriorated a lot. Bedding can be upgraded. Overall is still satisfactory.
4.2
Had a wonderful time. The Hotel was great!! No complaints.
4.2
Ok hotel clerk said they forgot to add the amenities in room price so I had to pay 200.00 dollars more. I felt it should have been put in when resolvation was made.
4.2
The stay was good. The suites are full apartments with a kitchen. All the comforts of home. There are no ice machines available though because you can make your own ice. The vending machines lacked choice for snacks. We were surprised to learn the restaurant closes at 9 pm. I am assuming it is due to not yet being "season." The hallway is confusing especially if you are part of a group like we were (wedding party) and we were spread between two buildings. We had to access the sixth floor terrace to get to the other side of the building and take the elevator to the 8th floor. Housekeeping was great keeping up with the wedding party's constant need for extra towels. Hotel was clean! We would definitely stay here again.

***** WARNING**** For those that use Expedia to book this hotel, the fees charge does not cover the additional hotel fees disguised as "Resort Fee". The reason I gave this hotel a two star rating was that I was on business travel and brought my family for the spring break. My story is simple; I paid the "Resort Fee" and thought that I can sit in my comfy room with my family doing work on the internet for my business. The first day the internet worked no problem, the next day the majority of the building internet didn’t work except the hotel lobby. I informed the lobby that this was an issue and they told me it will be taking care of. Hours have passed meeting missed and no communication. I decided to call the front desk again and again getting the same answer ...... finally a technician comes and trips the router and circuit wire to reboot the wireless. All of this was happening as I became a fixture in a noisy lobby area conducting business meetings. The manager knew of this and called me around 3:30 to apologies and needless to say that my internet didn’t get fixed until 4. My entire day was spent in the lobby of the hotel conducting business meetings. You would think that the manager would say hey I'll cover the cost of the internet or here’s a free night on us for your next trip. The only bright spot was a person from the desk who truly felt bad about the situation ... too bad her manager didn’t.

The room was nice. However, we paid for an ocean view and had a view of the wall to the lazy river and could not even see the ocean. I would advise people to NOT stay on the first floor; however, when I talked to the staff because I was displeased with our view, they told me you could not make a special request for a higher floor to ensure you do get what you paid for. Because of that fact alone, I would never recommend it and definitely would never stay there again, myself.

Pro's: Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher, King's size bread, 2 TV's, heated pool for the kids, very nice!
Con's: When pull out couch was open, couldn't walk around it thru living room to balcony! A bit noisy, could hear water running from up stairs and furniture being moved around!
4.2
Awesome stay at this hotel. Parking was so convenient- the parking deck is on the same floors as the rooms!! Large kitchen and living areas. Bedrooms are nice and spacious. Hotel staff were really nice. I do recommend this hotel and would stay there again!
4.2
The room was in poor condition, the microwave was dismantled with the face removed and wires exposed. The room was in poor condition, carpet dated, floor tiles with cracks and stained. We could barely turn the water on in the shower. We rented the room that had ocean view, but the only way to see the ocean was to lean out over the balcony, it should have been obstructed ocean view. We were very dissapointed and could not reccomend this hotel at all.
4.2
The 2 bedroom ocean view room about is great - updated appliances , nice granite counter tops, comfortable beds. The tub was jetted but rather small. Big balcony & very spacious...like a home way from home. Garage deck is a little small by at least the parking is free. The mad staff is a little worrisome and the ceiling in the indoor pool/hot tub area needs replacement. Overall this is a great place for action.
4.2
Very enjoyable stay. So small improvements would increase the star rating for this resort. By touching up paint on the walls and ceiling. Knob missing from dresser. Placing a family with adults away from the pool with family with little kids.
4.2
Excellent hotel. Very clean and friendly. Classy and welcoming.
4.2
The 2 bedroom suite we had for the weekend was beyond our expectations. The rooms were clean and stocked for a stay. Paper products such as napkins and paper towels were not included so you may want to get these as well as creamer, sugar, coffee etc from the Food Lion down the street. The bedrooms were spacious and the only complaint there was that the pillows were a bit flat and hard for our liking. The over-sized balcony held a table and 4 chairs as well as one lounge chair. Although,The Horizon at 77th is non-smoking, there were several people smoking on other balconies which can be an issue for those of us with asthma. The pool areas were adequate. This seemed to be a quiet week so the pools were not overcrowded but that could be an issue during busier times. But the view we had (7th floor) was beautiful! The property is angled so that each room had a view. The beach and ocean are a short walk away. We happened to go when it was "bike week" so there was a bit of motorcycle noise at times, but nothing outrageous. Plenty of dining choices nearby if you don't feel like cooking in suite. We will definitely be staying again!
4.2
The rooms are nice and clean. The indoor pool was not clean. The indoor pool ceiling is all torn up with asbestos showing. The hot tub outside was not cleaned well. The front desk employees were not always friendly and did not explain details of the hotel.
The workout room is very small.
4.2
We enjoyed our room and had a beautiful view. Not much to do in the neigborhood. Definitely a spot for a very peaceful vaction if thats what you are looking for but not a lot of action. Enjoyed the room though.
