Overall it was a great trip. Rooms are very nice but we had a freak accident in one of our rooms. The glass shower door in the restroom shattered while my daughter was showering with my 2 yr. old grandson. Thankfully they didn’t get badly hurt but my daughter did need to end up going to hospital to get stitches on her arm. My grandson has been very scared to this day to take a shower in a standing shower that has a glass door. The owner paid for all expenses except for the next day she had to go back to hospital to get her arm checked and they charged her $600 Mx pesos. There was no other compensation as far as refunding the money for her stay or moving her to another room or even another hotel since this was not her fault. Beware of the shower glass since it was a freak accident there’s no way of knowing if this could happen again.

Unbeatable location, but property is a bit run down. Rooms face main lobby without any sound buffers. Quiet AC, comfortable bed. Bathrooms need an update, along with the room furniture.

The mail st important was helpful and friendly staff. Alejandro was always available and dropped anything he was doing to answer questions and give advice. Dave and I greatly appreciated their help with smile.
The interior is unique and fits the old historic town.
The hotel is located in the heart of Oaxaca City with many restaurants and places to relax. Thank you!

We had an excellent stay at Casa de los Frailes. The location is unbeatable, you’re a few minutes walking to all the main attractions in the center of Oaxaca. The hotel staff were very friendly and helped make arrangements for visits to Monte Alban and Mitla. Highly recommended!

We have a great time and the hotel is very close to everything. The people that worked there were very friendly and they were very helpful. Love the hotel.

Had a great stay at this historic property. It captures the old feeling of Oaxaca friars that stayed there with modern amenities. The walkability score on this is also great, it’s just off the main Centro area so you can easily hit the shops and restaurants without being right in the middle.
The staff were super friendly and helpful in finding the best food spots in town! We also never felt unsafe when being in the hotel or around that area.
Only thing to bear in mind is that it is an older building so you can hear people walking around outside as well as if some guests decide to hang in the lobby. We didn’t have any big issues with this but if you want a very very quiet location this may not really fit your needs.

Bed was clean and confortable. Great location but unfortunately the hotel needs a complete makeover. Plastic plants everywhere, tacky Christmas ornaments on the bathroom door, Furniture in the room needs to be repaired. Very very small bathroom. Staff attentive and tried hard to responde to complaints. Floor in the room dirty. Door frame falling apart and bathroom door could not close. The hot water takes a while to get even though the hotel runs out of water and they have to truck it in.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I would return to the hotel.

The rooms were quaint but ours faced the street which meant loud street noises. There was no where to hang towels and bathroom was extremely small. Also you had to take a step down to get to the kitchen area and bathroom - at night if you forget - potential accident. The manager was attentive to our feedback (broken knob on bathroom door and no hot water in the morning and took care of these requests right away. Only coffee one morning available (but cafes abound on every street).

Hotel is in a fabulous location! Decor was dated and the bathroom in our room was very small but both were easily overlooked because of the convenience of the hotel’s proximity to the heart of Oaxaca’s historic area.

Great location
Nice roof terrace
Friendly staff
The room we stayed in didn’t have a functioning window which was a big problem for us. This is not advertised on the rooms description so would advise to get in touch with the property beforehand to enquire if you want fresh air in your room.

The hotel staff was very welcoming. The place was picturesque. The facility was very clean and walking distance to zocalo (15 min). I was very pleased with overall experience. They charge for toiletries, so bring your own.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. We stayed in room 104 and the wifi connection was really poor, but friends who stayed in other rooms reported better luck with wifi.

Everything was great! Beds were a little hard, but didn’t seem to mind. The only con about the property is the bathroom is very, very small. Other than that the staff were amazing, the room was always very clean, and the manager was very helpful. Anything you needed he was there. I highly recommend staying at this property as we will definitely being staying here again.

This boutique hotel is just a block away from the famous Santo Domingo Church and right at the corner of the famous Botanical Garden. The rooms are clean. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Hot water int he shower is good. The room has air conditioning system. They supply you with shampoo, body wash, conditioner, lotion and facial bar soap. They give you two complimentary bottled water everyday. They have a safe for your important belongings although the safe is movable and can easily be taken away. The wi-fi signal is also good. The area is quiet in the evening since it is not in a major street. Lots of restaurants in the area. Also, from Santo Domingo Church, you can easily go to the Cathedral and Zocalo where you can also find the tour bus parking if you want to explore the city. The staff are very welcoming. It's one of the best hotels in the area where price is reasonable but you will be satisfied with what they offer you. I will definitely choose this hotel again if I go back to Oaxaca.

Everything is very walkable from the hotel
4.0 / 10.0
The location of this place is awesome. You are quite close to many of the restaurants and sites in the area, with even more in easy walking distance. The rooms are clean and the staff are really friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the bathroom is too small and you may want to make sure you flush the toilet more than once -- maybe too low flow? However, given the location, the price is more than reasonable.
