Rooms are a little dated but spacious, warm and the bed was very comfortable. Parking was great with a barrier controlled car park behind the hotel.

We had a good stay although we were at wedding most of the time Mitchell at the front desk greeted us , was very welcoming and very polite , very good customer service by him .

Hotel room was a single room, as required, but a lot smaller than have experience elsewhere. The room was tired and bath room was the same. Breakfast on the first day, at 8.00am was reasonably acceptable. On the following day however was scheduled for 0900, which we had not been made aware, so upset plans. Also there were further days, and breakfast not deliverd until 9.45.!!!!

What makes this hotel really is the location and the wonderful staff. Nothing is too much trouble and they really couldn’t do enough to please . Friendly, lovely old coaching inn . If you are bothered about creaky floorboards and you can’t manage stairs it’s not for you . Oozing with character and charm. We ate there in the evening and the food was really excellent quality , Breakfast was also very good. The only criticism I could possibly have is that the housekeeper needs to pay a bit more attention to the bathroom cleanliness. Nothing really major but a lot of timescale and a fair bit of black mould on the shower which could have easily been cleaned off . Shame or it would have been perfect .

Lovely looking building. Rooms were tired but comfortable. Bedroom window did not shut so had to sleep with it open. ( not a problem for us and it was a warm night) however our room was above the pub and the music did not really stop until well after midnight. Bathroom was up a couple of steps. Shower ok. Sink too big for room to the point that you had to squeeze yourself pass the sink and shower to go to the toilet. Bathroom needs to be updated and needs to be cleaned to a better standard than what was presented. Staff were lovely but we would not return there. A shame.

Very helpful and welcoming staff, that’s the plus points. Can see why it was the cheapest hotel in the area. Got woken up at 6am by the pub bins being emptied outside the room. Overall the rooms need some work.

Great pub, old charm and close to all the amenities Stafford has to offer, the rooms are cheap so expect to get what you pay for! Great staff and very welcoming. Would stay again if we were ever in Stafford again.

Lovely friendly hosts and a pub hotel that does what it says on tin. Decent sized rooms for a short to medium stay. No aircon, but that wouldn’t be a problem mostly. The windows open properly so you can get a breeze if it’s hot out. Good food in the pub and a well priced, tasty breakfast.

Terrible. Absolute terrible. Filthy. Leaking. Staff that seemed completely drunk. Overpriced poor breakfast options. Can not recommend for anyone to stay here for the price they charge for a room

Bed was comfy and the surroundings were quiet so a good nights sleep was had, however the room was very dusty, the carpet was badly stained, the shower head needs replacing and the TV remote and glasses were dirty

Quaint and old hotel showing it’s age. Could do with a revamp. But comfortable giving us a good sleep. Nice bar. Plenty of outdoor space. Friendly staff. Would stay again.

Positives; Food was good value and well prepared for classic inn/pub food. Hotel is warm & cosy and represents the eclectic charm of an old inn that customers have likely chosen with purpose. Improvement areas: cleaning: large 1ft by 1ft cobweb in the corner of the room implied, along with other dirty/dusty surfaces, a lack of attention to detail on cleaning. Windows with broken latches left unfixed and other similar details create a bit of an unloved feel, albeit it is an old inn & some of this can be considered part of the charm. Was also a bit of an awkward moment when because the till doesn't match the menu pricing that we were told to pay more that the menu price. It was less than a pound difference so not a big deal but it stuck us that the owner could easily resolve that with a note to the kitchen to avoid an awkward conversation. Owner was a pleasant man to talk with though and clearly has a passion for the old inn so hopefully he'll get it ship shape soon enough
