Comfortable stay for the night.
However they were late opening for breakfast.

Booked this as a change from the blandness of chain hotels and it was fairly cheap …..but…. The old adage you get what you pay for. It was fine the bed was comfortable, room not that warm but there was a heater I could have plugged in. The downside was the four steep steps down to the bathroom, which was very big. The water was not really hot enough for a lingering soak which was a pity as it was a much bigger bath than I have at home. The windowsill needs some tlc as it looks quite awful when you are in the bath. Staff friendly and willing. Breakfast was fine though could have been a bit hotter.

Check in was quick and the service during evening meal was very pleasant and quick. The rooms are basic but very clean. Breakfast is not setup for a business person. The member of staff this morning was running late, no coffee or cereals ready to eat all food and drink needed to be ordered. I left without breakfast due to the waiting.

Room was clean, quiet, had facilities to make a hot drink, bed was very comfortable.staff were very friendly and polite

A good traditional old inn, generous room size, good facilities, clean, great cooked breakfast, wifi that worked at a reasonable speed and 63 /75kW EV charging. So much better than staying in the normal premier/days/lodge shoe boxes. Shower did have four temperatures; too hot and too cold.

The service is quite bad at this hotel. It takes a long time for anyone working there to notice you and when they do, it seems like an inconvenience to be of any help at all. The food is quite bad. Some of the breakfast items were missing even though they were on the menu. I can’t believe they actually charge extra for breakfast. I’m sorry to say that I couldn’t recommend staying here. While the building is historically interesting, it is clearly in need of some money being spent on bringing it up to standard and possibly all of the staff should be replaced. There is no pride taken in this place at all.

Overnight stay that we just fancied doing. The hotel is near the antiques centres so is ideal. Friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble.

Nothing wrong with the place staff friendly clean room
But got no sleep, contractors vans outside my window on the same level working through the night in and out of the vans slamming doors
Early hours started vans up kept them ticking over I am a long distance courier so not good that I cannot get a decent nights sleep let alone anybody in this situation
I have complained to the hotel waiting for a response

Good value - stayed for a wedding close by and was perfect for that

No hot water, hairs in sink, tv stand broken, no bulb in lamp

It is an old period pub with accomodation and dining facilities. Great place to stop off when travelling from Liverpool to London or further afield.
2.0
Nice pub and building area.
Needs modernisation and fresh lick of paint in the accommodation areas.
Some staff clearly do not want to be there and extremely lazy and put out by any requests.
Inconsistent with availability of hot water.
Breakfast extremely poor.
Dinner not available when I stayed. Went to the local Indian which was fabulous.
Did the job, wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Stay was lovely, comfortable and plenty of room

Very reasonable priced. The food was a good standard. There were issues with the hot water in the morning for the shower and the sink didn't have a plug, so shaving was awkward

Arrived 50 mins before check in which was 2pm.
We were told we couldnt check in until 2 which was fair enough. So went for a drink across the road. There was only 1 young lady at the bar and it was busy. She didnt look very happy!
Checked in at 2, lady was friendly and had read my requesf to make the.room a.double.
Room clean, bed comfy.
We were in room 11. 10 and 11 arent within the main pub but attached to the side on the ground floor overlooking the carpark.
We went out for the evening, returned at 11.30pm to sleep.
Room smelled strongly of cannabis. There were people smoking outside near our windows which were shut.
We tried to sleep but there was a tipping of water sound every 2 minutes like the water buckets at a water park that fill then tip.
My partner was awake from 3 or 4 am.
He looked around the bulding but couldnt see where the noise was coming from. It was definitely in the roof area.
We told reception on checking out who didnt know what it was either and gave us a full refund no issues there to which we are grateful.

Simple but clean accommodation, perfect for a lone traveller overnight stay. Decent menu of pub grub with plenty of choice. Staff friendly. Huge comfortable bed.

My room was large, clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and my evening meal and breakfast were "spot on", definitely no complaints from me, I'd happily stay here again.

One might business trip, and first time in this hotel. Plenty of parking and the pub looks OK from the outside. Inside it is fairly spacious, with two bar areas plus a pool table in what seems like an extension. No staff immediately visible on arrival, but did find them at the other end of the bar around a corner. Simple check in and given room key and good information on how the hotel works. Room was plenty big enough, much larger than most hotel rooms, with large, very comfy double bed. Bathroom was a bit dated and could do with an update, but everything worked although shower a bit slow and weak.
Had dinner which was reasonably priced and tasted fine, with plenty of choices on offer. Did not have breakfast but was on offer again at a very good price. Will probably stay again if in the area as good value for money.

Close to Northampton so a useful location for us.. Friendly staff and pub seemed popular at the weekend. Easy parking. Nice change from standard chain hotels.

Check in took 20 mins as short staffed, room window had zero view (room 3) as looked directly at another sloped room a couple of foot away, toilet had a broken seat, missing soap in the bathroom, tiny room. Fedback (when asked at check out how the stay was) about issues & just excuses thown up about being short staffed.

No complaints at all.
Will certainly stay again if in the area.

Very friendly property, staff were very helpful, and Penny and Tim did an excellent job at feeding and watering us 😀
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and it’s situated in a lovely village, but it’s also handy for major towns etc

Good sized room, comfy bed and it was very well heated. Hearty breakfast in the morning, with a decent croissant as well. I recommend

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Can't fault them (just didn't go above and beyond either) but they were still far better than you might expect.
Breakfast was good and came quickly.
Curtains were stained, couldn't work out his to cool room down and some of the furniture was a little worn and probably shouldn't have ever been hotel furniture.
2.0
Business stay to meet colleague. Room radiator not hot as building has boiler issues! Room 4 large and clean.
Food was average quality - steak a bit tough. Food menu tailored to couples so not best value for solo travelers.
Staff are very helpful & friendly escpecially Deputy Manageress

Excellent staff made us very welcome. Very good value for money.

My wife and I decided to book a night away after dropping our son off at Northampton university.
The staff were welcoming and room was spacious, however room was a little dark due to three light bulbs needing replacing and we had to ask for cups so we could make use if the kettle in the room.
We ate dinner here after a good walk around the area and by the canal, the food was reasonably good although I was disappointed not to be able to have what I originally wanted as it was sold out but was pleasantly surprised when we received 20% off the food bill because we were stopping there.
Overall it was good value for money and if I was needing to stop in the area then I would most likely stop here again.

The staff were friendly & helpful
The room comfortable & clean
Quality towels good to have shower & wash cream to use

Very good all round.
2.0
Clean comfortable
Little tired property
Odd staff member unsmiling and non -engaged
Which maybe down to staff shortages leading to over working
Not really acceptable in a hosting environment
2.5
A brilliant find. Staff are very friendly and helpful, room was perfect and a superb breakfast.
