Exactly as we expected. Peaceful, quiet, (foggy a lot) and many trails around the coast to appreciate.

It was great. Lots of places to walk around and keep busy. Of course there is the light house.

Just a really unique experience to have uninterrupted views of the Mendocino coast out of windows on both sides of the house, and a view of the lighthouse from the bedroom! The place was clean and spacious. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner!

It was definitely cold here but my girlfriend and I were not only ready for it, it had been 110 degrees most of the week where we came from so it was a great getaway.
Very beautiful area. The lighthouse tour was free with our stay and we enjoyed it. Not a ton of food options around but good food nonetheless. Well taken care of property right on the ocean. It was a great retreat for an easy do nothing weekend.
Loved it.

The location is amazing and I was happy to support the non-profit working to maintain the property.
We stayed in the Head keeper's House which was well appointed and had great views of the lighthouse and of the surf. The beds were comfortable and the fireplace was cozy. In most ways it met or exceeded my expectations.
Unfortunately I can't give more than 3 stars as we woke up to a massive woodbug infestation. Maybe this was a one-off event but there were easily dozens of the insects crawling around when we got up, mostly around the main bedroom. My wife was offput by the carcases left on the floor that clearly remained from bugs we'd inadvertently stepped on during bathroom breaks over night.

Outside was accessible but no shower chair or bench for the roll in shower. Inside space is also very limited for wheelchair mobility

Beautiful place to stay. Had a wonderful time!

We had a wonderful time at Point Arena Lighthouse. We stayed in the older, not-yet-renovated lodgings but everything was in good shape and clean. The property itself was great to explore and it was fun being there at night with no one else around. The tour guides were very friendly, as was the cat, Mina. The shop had a ton of gifts.
All of the houses looked like they had great views from both front and back. We were fogged in most of the time, but that's the risk you take at a lighthouse. We could watch seals sun bathe on the rocks below and there was plenty of hiking nearby.
The town of Point Arena is just a few miles away (within biking distance) and had several great places to eat. I'd recommend Gama and the New Museum.

It was amazing to go to sleep to the sound of the waves and wake up and see the lightghouse from sitting in the bed.

Such a cool experience to stay out by the lighthouse and explore the property! Worth every penny and it goes to a great cause of keeping up the property. You get free access to the tour that takes you to the top of the lighthouse and there are spectacular views from the top! Highly recommend!

There is nothing like a beautiful day at the beach. So staying overnight at the beach is awesome. Thank you for the memories.

I was traveling alone with my dog, we had the Bookkeeper’s Room, which was perfect for our time in Point Arena. I felt safe, and the room was very clean with coffee maker, fridge and microwave. ( It is always difficult to gauge which Point Arena restaurants will be open and when, so bringing food with is a must.) The walks around the property and at close-by Stornetta Lands were very healing, and I really enjoyed the Lighthouse tour. The staff at the gift shop and museum are all very kind and knowledgeable. Also, I didn’t see Mina all week, but she came to see us off while I was moving luggage to the car. She is a sweet mascot! I am highly recommending this destination to friends!!

We had a great time at the Point Arena Lighthouse! The space was clean and cozy, Mark was communicative and helpful, and they even gave us a personal tour of the lighthouse! Wished shampoo/conditioner were provided. Basic kitchen stuff (oil, spices) would have been great too. Super well appointed space otherwise. Would love to come back!

Pros:
The location is perfect. It’s a beautiful property surrounded by the water. The view from the window is peaceful. Check-in was easy and contactless.
Cons:
- I was staying at Keeper’s Room and unfortunately I could hear my neighbours watching TV, laughing and talking all evening. Their dog was also barking / the room next door is pet friendly. If you are staying in this room in the winter be aware that the only heating unit is a loud electric fireplace - it tends to turn on an off every few minutes - it kept waking me up, so I ended up not getting much needed and anticipated rest… it’s also impossible to switch off the “fake” flame without turning off the whole thing, so it stays bright at night.
- there were tiny bugs on the floor - I am not afraid of bugs so I didn’t care too much but somebody may find it gross
- there are racoons on the property - in the morning my car was covered in their muddy paw prints. If you have a nice car be aware that they may scratch your paint.
Summing up - nice place but not for this price.

Everyone did their best to make sure the experience was a great one, from the housekeepers to the lighthouse executive director to the museum staff. Great base from which to explore the surrounding areas.

Beautiful, exclusive views as you are one of only 5 other rooms on the property. Lighthouse kitty made a visit on the last day.

The Keeper's room was charming. The door looked out to the lighthouse and the window the ocean. Very clean with cute decor. Complete with Mini fridge and microwave a trip to the local market was all we needed. Coffee and tea was provided.

When we arrived, we were lucky enough to be welcomed by both Arena Mina and Mark. He was so nice and explained to us Mina is welcome to visit us if she liked and we were welcome to enjoy her presence as well.
The room was clean and had just enough of what we would need, and the mattress was HEAVEN!
We even were lucky enough to have Arena Mina come into our room and take a snooze on our bed for an hour. We left the door open about 6 inches so she could leave anytime she wanted, and staff could also see we weren’t keeping her against her will.
We enjoyed walking the grounds, taking lots of pictures and getting a tour of the lighthouse was also very exciting and interesting. It gave us a whole new appreciation for lighthouses and the staff that are required to run them.
We will definitely be returning next year as our “kid-less vacation” destination. Do yourself a favor and go!
Escape all the craziness of the everyday world, and enjoy doing nothing but being with your someone special, the ocean, the wind, the awesome sight of the lighthouse outside your door and, of course, spending time with Arena Mina.

For staying in one of the smaller rooms. My stay was memorable. I hope to come back and book a larger room situation. It's a one of a kind experience.

Great views of lighthouse, ocean and shoreline from Keeper's Room if weather is clear. Can be windy and cold outside, but room stayed warm. AV equipment somewhat hard to understand for switching from satellite TV to DVD and back, but help available. Fun movie DVD's in room containing local scenes. Walking trails nearby. Not many local places to eat during week. Pt. Arena Chowder House open only Sat, Sun and Mon.

The apartment with the kitchen was absolutely wonderful. Very well kept, charming, comfy. We would totally go back again.

Point Arena Lighthouse is one of the most original places I've had the pleasure of staying at. The views are unbelievably beautiful. The fact that there are a limited amount of units to stay overnight made the feeling of exclusiveness second to none. My girlfriend and I stayed in the Keepers Apartment. It was a perfect size for two people. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishware, cutlery, etc. No food is provided in the fridge so I highly suggest planning meals to cook. The apartment was very clean which made you feel much more comfortable than any stay in a hotel. Finally, the private tour of the lighthouse is a must. Our tour guide Joe was very knowledgeable, and the view from the top of the lighthouse can't be beat.

I wish i could say we loved our stay. Instead we had to skip the trip because we had a family emergency and as hard as we tried to work with Hotels.com and the venue, our calls were not answered, each place kept kicking the can to the other, and when they finally responded they did not follow up with their promise to have the director call us. Bad form for everyone and extremely disappointing
