This was an amazingly horrible experience with even worse management. They booked another couple into our room in the middle of the night. They literally walked in the room while my gf was asleep. This action resulted in our key cards being deactivated (I was at work) and when she walked to the store in the morning, she could not get back in. They refused to give her a new card, even with me on the phone with them, because they said that she was not a “registered” guest. They would not give her our belongings in the room. After a long argument on the phone (I was hung up on twice!) they stated “well, you definitely aren’t getting your belongings now!”
I reserved the room for two people. They didn’t request her ID upon check in. And the desk person lied and told the manager that I threatened to “kill him”. I’m a local businessman……not the low life scum that they treated us as. They kept our deposit as well as our belongings. I have a pending lawsuit against them. BEWARE

We arrived at 1:00pm and knew it was unlikely we would get an early check in, but asked anyway. The clerk simply said "no". So I asked if they could hold our bags, again told, "no". I asked if we could sit by the pool/patio and was told "no". I then asked if we could wait in the lobby until check in time and was told "no, I am going to take off for awhile". So we did just go across the parking lot to the bar, but the clerk could not have been less helpful. At least when we came to check back in there was a different clerk and he was polite. The hotel is very run down and under construction. I used to stay here when it was a Super 8 and it was in better shape and the staff was helpful and polite. I usually stay in pretty simple, basic places, but I will not stay here again. It was dirty and run down. If it weren't for the 2nd clerk, this would be a 1 star review. Also the room was a little dirty.

They lied about the online price on hotels.com. The room is a total disaster, filthy., a complete run-down. A/c fan runs non-stop and noisy. Parking terrible because construction workers park in front of your room. I think they will tear down this room when they are done with the others.

An older but decent property where one can stay for a day or two while visiting Costa Mesa and the nearby Newport Beach.

It met our needs. Comfortable bed, shower and small fridge. There were a couple ants on the counter in the bathroom and the shower head was really low. Outdated but we were just there to sleep and the price was good.

Staff members were not being honest. I arrived yesterday at 8:15 PM, there was a note on the door stating be back at 9 PM out to lunch. I came back at 9:02 PM now the note says 9:49 PM will be back from lunch. Myself and 4 or 5 other guests were waiting. We rang the doorbell and the employee who answered was very rude. He said we will have to wait like everyone else. I’m not sure what kind of property management training this plays has put in place; however, if you are a hotel, an Inn or motel there should be someone covering Lunch shifts and not ask guests to wait an hour or one hour and a half. Additionally, blow dryer in the hotel room did not work, no tissue box, room smells like cigarettes. Overall experience was very terrible.

Beware the bug infestation. The pace looked dirty and there was one bug when we walked in the first night. We hoped it was a fluke and we want to support small business so we stuck it out. Went out for the next day and got back to the room late walked in to bugs on the tables, running across the floors and on the beds. We didnt even think to take pics because we were so creeped out and we were focused on shaking out our stuff and packing it up as fast as we could. We couldnt find anyone at the office but didnt hang around to try much because the drunken pub attendees had overflowed into the parking area were rowdy and agressive.
This property was false advertised. The pictures dont show the floors that are so sticky we didnt dare take our shoes off, the air in rooms was dusty and smelly and the pool is a pit of despare that doesn't appear to have been in opperation for years. I am not sure how it got the rating it did because I booked it from the rating and the reviews on expedia. I should have done more research before booking. The google reviews showed more information. I should have been more thorough.

There is something very calming about this location that I appreciate. I would probably prefer a regular bathtub than the squared off ceramic tile basin. And I would prefer that the old carpeting be replaced with flooring that easier to clean. But all in all, none of that is a deal breaker because I felt so comfortable and every staff member was so accommodating. I truly felt welcomed and I look forward to staying there again.

Front desk clerk charging extra $35 parking fee for oversize vehicle, ford e350.
Front desk wouldn’t call management or budge on this fee. Room is non-refundable, so I’m locked into this hotel.
Room had extreme cannabis smell. The house maid should have reported this to management,-maybe it was reported, and front desk clerk assigned to room to me anyways.
The carpet was dirty and stained, so I had to wear shoes indoors the whole time.
I think this could be a much better hotel with better service and better maintenance.
I booked this room on the low price and average rating of 7
Sorry, my experience was a 2

Price/Value must factor in on ratings. Great deal for the money. The good:
great bed, big room, plenty parking, walk to everything/ great location, clean.
The bad: Broken ice machine, scratchy towels and super stingy fresh towel availability, bar soap that won't lather, and a permanently closed pool

I've stayed here before and I always come back. It suits my purpose perfectly. I only sleep in my room, and am out visiting and playing tourist the rest of the day. It's right on Harbor but set back off the street, so easy to get to and usually quiet. Unfortunately the most recent night I was there a person in the room next to me was in a loud and active conversation with someone outside his window for several hours in the middle of the night . But I've not had that problem before. My room has always been clean and comfortable, I love the bathtub and shower, plenty of hot water. There is a refrigerator and microwave in the room but no coffee. Patrick's bar shares part of the front parking lot and fabulous Taco Madre's is right next door to that, so eats and drinks are quite convenient with no driving necessary. I will definitely come back as always, whenever I need good convenient safe and affordable lodging in this area

Its a decent place to sleep for a night or two. Lots of restaurant options nearby. Close to Newport Beach. No breakfast options though. Wear slippers or socks coz the carpet doesnt look like its being cleaned regularly. Towels were so rough. Easy access to parking lot. Its only a 2 floor property. Either you get a 2nd floor room close to the stairs or a 1st floor room. AC working great! Their 1 king room on the 2nd floor has a huge space. I would stay here again.

Stay away from this place, it's disgusting I have never seen a dirtier place in my life, the carpet is so filthy that the smell hits you as soon as you enter the reception

We enjoyed our short stay at the Costa Mesa Inn as it was very close to the wedding venue we were attending. There's a pub next door and really good Mexican restaurant next to the pub. Front desk staff were very friendly and our room was old but, clean. We could have used an extra towel or two and the water pressure is a little on the low side. The a/c worked great!

This hotel was absolutely deplorable! The carpets must be about 20 years old, with tons of stains and cigarette smell even though they said it was non smoking. There were urine stains all around the toilet, sticky floor in the bathroom, and non slip tub sticker was satined gray. Stains on the lamps, chairs and couch. We were using this as a stopping point to get some rest, shower and change to go to an event nearby, the main reason we didn’t want to spend too much. If too tired after the event we were going to stay. Well that changed quickly after we saw the conditions of the room! We ended up just showering up and we ran out of there especially when we saw the roaches on the wall! Then as we were leaving we realized some people actually are living/staying there full time with kitchen gadgets hanging from the walls. This has got to be THE WORST hotel in Costa Mesa. Save your money

We really enjoyed the great bed, which made us secure the great night sleep after the long international flight!
The location is greatly situated next to Seven Eleven and cafe/restaurant and also amazingly quite in the middle of the city strip.

During checkin, requested a 1st floor room. Was offered a suite w/ a jacuzzi for an extra $50. If I moved-used anything; he couldn’t change rm. At a quick entry glance the room seemed okay until I turned on all the lights & looked closer at the bathroom which had visible dirt on the floor & 2 small, but visible blood spots on the toilet wall & tub vanity areas. Water not hot to fill tub or use jets. Took pictures & showed the night staff the dirty parts of the room & requested a discount post touch of bed & using the bathroom. The walls had liquid marks and a blood drop in the bathroom & the tub area which I showed staff right away. No clean crew avail for visiting guests that checkin after 5pm. The sole evening staff member didn’t offer new room but tried to help by giving us extra towels to support cleaning the dirty floor. In hindsight, we should have left the facility & asked for a full refund. The next morning staff member/manager didn’t want to hear about our stay, was rude, wouldn’t share his name. The hostile short tempered unprofessional morning rep stated that I was not welcomed back to their hotel. He didn’t like that I brought issues to his attention. He did not care about customer satisfaction and threatened to charge me for cleaning the floor w/ their towel even after I sharing that I received approval from the night staff to do so. Poorly ran facility with bait & abuse tactics. Trauma and odd negative profiling experienced at this facility. Horrible checkout.
