We enjoyed our stay at Bishops Retreat in early August 2024. Our party was composed of 8 adults (4 couples) and 4 children, and the configuration of rooms (sleeping / bathrooms / lounging) worked really well. One of the basement rooms in particular was quite large and had a kitchenette and breakfast table, though the bunk beds were not stable enough to use when we arrived.
Another thing we really loved was the location - it was less than a 5-minute walk from the pool and recreation area.
Other reviewers noted that the stove had issues; we are happy to report that the stovetop was fully operational and worked well. Very convenient for us, because we cooked every night. We did notice that the chef’s knives were fairly dull and we regretted not bringing a knife sharpener.
A few small items would have made the stay even better: the main high-traffic areas were pretty clean but some of our party with dust sensitivities developed some mild symptoms by the end of our stay. I’m recommending that the owner perform more frequent deep cleanings of areas that receive less traffic but still collect dust, such as underneath furniture and in corners.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend Bishops Retreat to other parties who can take advantage of the bigger space.

Bishops Retreat exceeded expectations. Most well equipped rental we’ve ever been to. Upon arrival entry was easy and as described in instructions. Check out was also effortless.
Celebrated our 40th anniversary with our children and three grandchildren so 10 of us in all. Layout of the house allowed us all to have separate space but also come together for gathering. Thanks so much!

We got married in the chapel and one family stayed for the weekend and then we stayed a couple of extra days to relax. We loved the space and layout and view. We made some great pictures at the house and front porch before the ceremony. The house was perfect for us!

This was a wonderful house for our yearly trip with four old friends. The house is beautiful, extremely clean and comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked and a joy to cook in. But, our most favorite feature of the house is the wonderful covered porch where we could sit, relax, and watch the parade of people, dogs, and wildlife as they made their way around the lake shore path!

A group of 9 ladies stayed here for a retreat. It was perfect for us. There was a large gathering area for us to be together but enough space to spread out also. It is beautifully furnished and well appointed with amenities. Large kitchen and fantastic porch with a lovely view. We'll be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this beautiful home.

The location was perfect. We loved the 2 story cabin home. Everything was profided down to the forks and spoons.
Gas stove. We absolutely loved. Plenty of room for 12 of my family members. Home was warm, nice and cozy.
They only thing we disappointing, was the lake. We brung along fishing equipment and the lake was drained. I was worried when we arrived because we was unaware and had never seen anything like that before. A bit scary. I'm glad the lake will be filled with water by April for Easter. We shall make plans to return and catch some fish next time.

We really enjoyed our stay at Bishop’s Retreat, on Lake Junaluska. The listing doesn’t do the location justice. It is located right on the lake. You can walk, fish, kayak, and enjoy wildlife steps away from the front door. The house was family friendly and had everything we needed, including a canoe, paddle boards, and kayaks. The house was clean and full of neat outdoor themed decor. There’s a TON of space and it’s really cozy. We will definitely be back next year! The stove wasn’t working, but they did include hot plates to cook on. This was just a minor inconvenience.

Loved our Third stay at Bishop’s Retreat. Comfortable Home with all you need to accommodate a big Family. Nothing can match sitting on the porch taking in the views and sounds of Lake Junaluska. The best house on the lake!

Beautiful home. There were 13 of us! 3 were 90 years plus! Great home for 3 generations to stay in. It had everything we needed.
The view is worth a million dollars. A well cared for home.

No one told us the lake would be drained. So paying a premium to be on the water then arrive to a smelly, muddy dry mess was very disappointing. I wish so much someone would have let me know that was going to be the case. I would not have rented the property.

A beautiful home with an amazing view of the lake and the mountains. Very well stocked kitchen; lovely bedrooms; large open area for kitchen, dining and living rooms. The window seat in the living room was my favorite spot! Will definitely return here.

This house accommodated our family perfectly. It has the perfect location and it’s beautiful inside also. Our children took advantage of the pier, that’s 50 yards below, and used a couple of kayaks and the canoe. The place was very clean and there were plenty of towels. I only hope we can rent it again!

Great place to un wind and relax. Plenty to do if you want to walk the lake, canoe, play tennis or put put. Dog friendly and wonderful people. Also, nice restaurants near by. We highly recommend it and will be going back after Thanksgiving!
