Great historical motel, restored with love for details and a contemporary twist. Super comfortable beds with crisp pillows and bed sheets. Remote, but quick and efficient communication if needed. Swimming pool plus free parking on site.
The location is isolated from the town, but with a car it was not a problem.

nostalgic yet modern at the same time. The Burgandy lounge was fabulous
didn’t have a microwave in the room, but we didn’t need it anyway.

Wonderful accom with a nice eye for 60's stylings. Funky late night bar and a lovely pool. Robust neighbourhood but the city only $15-$20 away in an Uber. Super clean rooms.
Staff not always on site which was problematic for check in and access to pool/ office in the morning.

My husband and I were really pleased with the actual room. It's decorated very nicely and is very comfortable, from the furniture to the bathroom items. Super cute and comfie! Also, it felt pretty secluded and safe especially since the neighborhood seemed sketchy.
My husband and I were less that impressed with the parking. We drive a pick up truck and it was a challenge to navigate the parking area plus there weren't any spots to adequately accommodate us. There is only one way in and one way out with just enough room for a single vehicle to drive through. It was frustrating. I couldn't tell that by the reviews or the pictures. Also, we were looking forward to noise control based on the rules that were sent prior to our stay but this is a party place. Not only did it seem like there were too many cars for the number of rooms that are there but the noise coming from the lounge and other rooms during the later hours was pretty uncomfortable.

Everything about this place is stunning and gorgeous. Absolutely loved the facilities.
Had some trouble getting the self-serve check in to work, and the room doesn’t have much sound proofing. It was quite noisy with a nearby party, other guests, and trains going by. That’s really my only complaint

The retro style was fantastic. Very clean and fresh, seemed to be recently renovated. Best motel I have stayed in. Great value for the price.
The door lock was a little tricky when locking from the inside. My friend went out to check whether it was really locked or not, just to be sure it worked, which it did. That was really the only thing worth noting...

Awesome stay. The staff was very thoughtful with their check in texts and reminders about live music in the bar. We were there unfortunately to say goodbye to a friend with cancer. It was a nice surprise when the staff responded to my text with condolences. Comfy bed , clean room, nice staff.
If you drink , take your own. Floridians are not use to no alcohol after 7 pm or on Sunday :).
Perfect stay minus the sad part

Where do I begin? There are so many things that we marveled at upon arrival, and so many more that we have continued to marvel at since our stay. The entire place was so well-designed; it was like walking into a vintage magazine spread called "America's Most Chic Roadside Motels," and The Starlight Motor Inn is at the top of the list!
We loved the color scheme. As an artist, I appreciated how everything, from the stationery to the pool towels, was within a consistent design. It made everything look and feel so complete. The bar was it's own entity-- it exudes style and vintage soul. The drink menu was top-notch and the staff were all so welcoming. My fiance's favorite was definitely the Burgundy Lounge. As for my favorite? It's between the pool and the bed, and it's a very close call. The pool might win, simply because it was just so aesthetically pleasing and perfectly cooling for a walking tourist on a 90-degree Charleston afternoon.
We were only in Charleston for a few days to celebrate our engagement, but the next time we are back (and there will be a next time SOON), we are coming right back to Starlight.
I don't like that I can't pick this place up and put it in my pocket to carry around with me forever.

Sooooo amazing! 😍 Loved everthing about it, especially the retro design! The service also. Easy to check in and clean modern rooms.
Everything was good!

Loved the room and atmosphere
Great price for the area and very centrally located
The maintenance man or property manager was GREAT!
Did not love location
On property I felt safe, getting to property was a little sketchy!!
Also, it’s almost like an AirBnB… no receptionist or housekeeping.

We booked this Inn due to it`s retro look mainly & good price for Charleston. We asked for a particular room & they obliged. There are no "staff" on site as such but our room key code was emailed to us perfectly & everything ran smoothly. We used the excelent pool & the bar at night time for a few drinks. The bar also had a great look about it being early 60`s in decor with some great B&W pictures. Everything was still like new in our room. Everyone we spoke to loved the vibe, even the early 60`s music. The sign at the roadside was perfect at night.
We`d stay here again in a heartbeat if visiting Charleston again.
Nothing was bad for us except the Canadian couple next door having a "fight" when they came back after midnight, but that is out of the hotels control really. Just a sad reflection on young drinkers today. Luckily someone helped to calm them down & I believe take the lad away so she could calm down.

The rooms had some cool pictures, nice shower, loved the wallpaper an the mirror in the bathroom! Beds ok !
The outside needs cleaned up
Had to move to another room on our last night, power went out in half of the room!
My husband killed a roach above my head on the headboard in the room we was giving since we had no power!
Walked out to a big pile of Dog poop, my yorkie ran into it I had to clean her up! Not something I want to open up my door to!
The bar was not open the whole stay!

I strongly recommend this hotel. Reasonable price. Recently renovated rooms in sixties style with a Jetson look : glass front wall, new very nice walk in shower, colorful accent items. There is a nice bar that has a "Friend's" feel. Friendly and efficient manager. Less than 15 minutes from downton Charleston through local streets. I will go back for sure !

Cute, clean room. I really liked the keyless entry. It was so easy for everyone to access the room with the pin code.
The decor was perfect, just like the photos that were online. Pool was still a little cold but my son went swimming anyways.
My only complaint was that we stayed for 3 nights and they only gave us 3 cups, one sugar and one creamer for the entire stay. I'm sure we could have gotten coffee (and the fixings) at the office but it's not staffed 24/7 so I wasn't sure if I'd be wasting my time.

The unique retro decor was exceptional! The bed was sooo comfortable and I had a great sleep. The room and the shower were clean.
The location is not the best but I felt safe. Having parking in front of the room was very secure.

Should take cash for a deposit

We liked the attention to detail, and that is was so retro! Just like it was advertised to be. This isnt too far from Charleston as long as you have a car. Just 10 mins to everything. The bed was so comfortable and had quality pillows for a good nights rest.
All was good.

Stayed here b/c my daughter was touring C of C. Loved decor/theme - loved the room, its amenities, bathroom good and it was very clean and had very comfortable beds - rooms are just as you see in the photos online...we selected to stay here b/c we had a very early flight and it was closer to the airport than downtown charleston, and much better prices than downtown Charleston
neighborhood :( my teen daughter and i were staying here but had i been aware of the surrounding neighborhood, i would have selected another hotel - we did not have a car, so had to UberEats food unless we were up for a longer Uber ride to a dining option 10-15min away - would NOT have walked anywhere near.....
There is a contactless check in with door code txted to you - no human manning a front desk to greet or answer questions - you had to txt a # - very impersonal - "lounge/bar" needs major reno and updates as well as advertise their hours of operation.

Loved the 60’s retro charm!

every thing was new, room clean, had a lot of technical upgrades
area was kind of rough and the out side lights were extremely bright but that is a double edged sword because I appreciated the well lit parking lot for safety just not the light flooding our room after dark

Again, it was a very nice stay - 4 us it was by far the best motel / accommodation we had on our US-trip. Our room had a poster of Fats Domino. The interior is very comfortable, functional and new. There was somebody who really thought about it how to create a very good motel room. Compared to German hotel rooms, there are very functional little things like the multi-plug in port for cell phones and stuff. The positioning of the big bed and the huge TV was perfect, also never seen before a free access to streaming channels (and my wife could watch ‚port protection season 3 which is not available in Germany…).

we booked two nights there. the location is a 15 minutes drive by car from the town centre of Charleston. this is the first time that we give 10 points. the interior is in terms of function and design focused and just nice. it’s very clean, new, a huge TV right in front of the big bed with a good quality bed clothing in white. a small coffee edge, the bathroom is modern and new and functional, towels new in white. a Thelonious Monk (111) and a old VW-bus T1 poster (207) on the wall. free WLAN, combi set box with different plug in’s 4 cell phones an s free access to streaming channels ( e.g. Netflix). for us close to perfect. just one thing to improve is the check in process after 2 pm which is fully automatic. maybe it is 4 Europeans a bit more difficult with their phone cards. anyway, there is a phone number that can be called and a friendly man helping out.

It was like stepping back in time but modern. The decor is incredible. My room had an original Thunderball movie poster. The pool was being hand painted while I was there and it looked amazing. It reminded me of 1960's Hollywood motor court where actors would go before they became famous. It was fantastic.
The beds were a little hard but that's a personal opinion.

I liked the retro style! Very affordable!
No one was around. You were in contact with the hotel through text. In person hospitality is VERY important. I don’t want this trend to continue.
