About this house rental
On what was once Oakachoy Creek (now flooded and part of Lake Martin), this newly renovated lake house is located on one of the most amazing level peninsula lots on the lake! This one-acre property offers access to your own private boat ramp, swim/sun dock, boat dock, a large screened porch for fun or relaxation, and a sweet spot to watch the "fun" go down around an artisan fire pit. The comfortably decorated interior has 4 bedrooms on the main level and 3 baths, and the basement level features a main room for sleeping and a separate bedroom. This lake house can sleep 14 people comfortably. Did we mention the serene 270-degree views of the "Narrows" on Lake Martin? On clear nights, sit out by the fire waterside, decompress and star gaze.
The main living area within the house was one of many original "Russell Cabins" that were built all around the lake. Over the years the previous home owner had two additions built on the cabin for their family and we just completed what we think will be the last addition: a transformative and thoughtful make-over to this home in 2023. One of the best upgrades was a large screened-in porch on the lake-side of the home with a comfortable spot for lounging/snoozing, a round table for snacking, game play or perhaps a laptop. There is a large TV and a shuffleboard table that doubles as a large group dining table. Perhaps it is best enjoyed with a cup of coffee and a book on an early morning.
In addition to the main house that sleeps 14, you'll have access to an outdoor kitchen dubbed "The Fish Shack" just off the outdoor courtyard that we think your lake group will enjoy. (Sorry, no public access to deep fryer for insurance reasons.) Some might find it reminiscent to a college dive bar? Either way, it's been a crowd pleaser for off-the-lake hours. We are a family that likes to cook(and eat) and our intention is that anything you want to cook at the lake, we want to have the tools here for you to do so.
Bring your trailered boat or your other water toys; there is plenty of room for parking and storage. No boat? No problem. Several rental opportunities exist with advanced reservations at nearby marinas.
Do you run, walk or bike? We have miles and miles of challenging, quiet back-country roads for your enjoyment and solitude.
If you have questions, please ask! We want your stay at our lake house to be so comfortable and memorable that you become one of our families that comes back every year, so let us know how we can make it better for you! We already have some exciting upgrades planned for the future and our family can't wait to share them with you and your family.

I must say I hate to be honest - because if I am - the place will always be booked and I'll never get to stay here again :)
This was far and away the best VRBO that I have ever stayed in. John and Sara have done a wonderful job of making sure you have absolutely everything you need to feel like home - and in surplus - everything was where you would expect it to be - everything was taken care of and we felt comfortable using it - didn't feel like we needed to wash anything - truly felt like I had just come home. Everything looks just like the pictures - tucked out of the way so not too busy - but close to some good boat up bars, restaurants, marina's, gas etc. We stayed for 10 days - and never longed for something to do - Jenga, Cornhole, shuffle board, darts, ping pong, fishing (couple bass & a couple catfish) Of the ten days we spent 7 on the water - backed our 24' Tritoon right down the ramp and just left the truck and trailer sit right there on the drive - super convenient - great u-shaped dock to tie the boat off at night and it was protected from wakes and waves - great swim dock - hit that water every single day from the dock and dried off in the shade of the umbrella mounted to the dock. Coffee in the morning on the screened in porch was amazing - It was a special time for our family - much needed down time and together time - such a beautiful setting. I usually am itching for my own bed/shower/kitchen after a week - I can honestly say I didn't want to leave. 110%

Mr. Root could not have made us feel more at home. They really did try to think of everyone and everything when setting up this property. Fishing, boating, swimming and fires by the lake are just a couple of the many things we enjoyed during our stay. Will stay again and would recommend.
