Amazing location, staff was great. Excellent breakfast. Highly recommend.

An older property, needs a remodel, but staff was super nice and the location was great! If you stay there be sure to get gelato at Cesare’s. The A/C didn’t work as well as I wanted it to but I think that’s pretty common in Europe.

The staff is always kind and helpful. Great location!

The staff were great! Helpful and accommodating. Special thanks to the housekeeping staff as they were amazing! The first room we had was a junior suite(401). It was nice and spacious but there was this funny smell when you enter the room. So we switched to the next room which had a seaview(superior suite 423) and it was so cute! Love the curtains and I specially like that there are blackout curtains. So if you want to have a sleep in it’s perfect! The air conditioning is not that great. Can only go down up to 22.5 and cannot do anything about it. The safe in room 401 was tiny but the 423 safe was big enough to fit my laptop. It is not soundproofed rooms. I can still hear the people outside my room. The breakfast was good. A lot of choices. But it would have been nice if there are hot food included in the buffet like scrambled eggs(need to pay extra), sausages etc. But still it was a good spread. All in all the had a great time staying in this hotel. Definitely recommend toom 401 if you want a spectacular view of the sea and Athena! Thank you Grand Hotel Excelsior for a wonderful experience. Hope the next time I come back the air conditioning will be able to go down to 16 degrees😄

Older Hotel being renovated currently. Friendly and attentive staff.
Location is ok, not great but there are plenty of hidden restaurants that are fantastico

There was construction and our balcony was non accessible. It was always dark in the room. Wish I would have known. Staff was great

Wonderful property if you are visiting Reggio. Very convenient to visit all the places in Reggio that are interesting.
4.1
Best place to stay!
4.1
Old Decor with not much for style or updating; padded and fabric walls; decent WiFi signal from room.
4.1
Great location physically and very friendly staff. Slightly outdated decor but in very good state of hygiene.
4.1
A good 4 stars hotel, really close to the main museums and the seaside. I would definitely recommend

Nice property in an excellent location. Great staff and comfortable and spacious room. Only issue was that, while the hotel advertises itself as non-smoking, the first room they brought us to reeked of smoke. They quickly changed our room, but the manager admitted they have a problem controlling their guests’ smoking. This needs correction!
4.1
Older style hotel right the centre of Reggio, just opposit the museo nazionale. Rooms are decorated in style with a small balcony with partial view of the sea. Staff are very helpful: I broke my glasses and they left no stone unturned to help me repair them - it was a sunday. I left some important things in my room upon check out, returned 4 hours later - found, no problem. Thank you, room maid for room 405! Had dinner at the restaurant, very expensive, good service.
Some negatives
- dinner, the insalata mista consisted mainly of mais (it should not be called salad). The sepia was too hard. These complaints relate inky to the price if the meal.
- breakfast service was poor. Slow in cleaning tables, very small selection - sliced cheese, ham and prosciutto. Ham and prosciutto were finished (or almost) on each of my 3 days there and I had to ask to replenish. I also had to ask for coffee on the first 2 days, on the third day there was noone to ask, so no coffee at all (couldn't wait, check-out time).

Great location for the museum and ferry. Outdated style from 1970s and 80s.
Clean and comfortable.
4.1
Dining room with breathtaking beautiful views of Sicily, The Straits of Messina and Reggio di Calabria.
The proximity of the hotel to the walk along the seafront.
The fabulous Archaeological Museum, is right beside it.
The railway station is just across the road, ferries to Sicily are a short train journey .

Very nice hotel & restaurant, accomodated my gluten intolerance easily. Staff was very serviceable. Neighborhood was not super and hotel parking was an extra.

Gorgeous hotel. Very near the beach and shopping.
4.1
Hotel was 3.5 stars there are not a lot of great options in this town
4.1
Disappointing. Hard bed and pillows. Dirty night tables. Stained tablecloths in restaurant.
4.1
The website falsely advertises this hotel. It's old, out of date & run down. To make matters worse the room was falsely advertised and we had to book two rooms when we got there at additional charges. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the central location otherwise I would advise not to book this property.

The female staff at front desk were not friendly or professional.

Nice hotel but offering a sea view is stretching it a bit

The hotel location was optimal. Staff and service were friendly and accommodating. The outside of the building could be improved.
4.1
Right across from the beach. Nice pedestrian friendly area. Large and walkable street a block away with all of the high end shops. Food was amazing.

Great hotel, close to the archaeological museum, the shopping district and the promenade by the coast. The only drawback was that they charged for breakfast room service which was unspecified on the menus.
