The Neighborhood:
The Summit Lake area of Akron, Ohio, is experiencing a comeback in recent years, thanks to efforts to revitalize the community and restore the lake's ecological health.
Local community leaders, residents, and organizations have come together to address issues like abandoned properties, crime, and a lack of economic opportunity. This has resulted in new investment in the area, including the development of new housing and the renovation of existing properties. We are very proud of the rennovations we've done to our property and excited as we see our neighbors and the city working on the same.
The Summit Lake Neighborhood Association has played a critical role in this revitalization effort, working to engage residents in community-building activities and organizing events and programs that promote the area's strengths.
Another key factor in the area's comeback has been the restoration of Summit Lake itself. The lake has suffered from pollution and neglect in the past, but in recent years, efforts to clean up the lake and restore its ecological health have gained momentum. The Summit Metro Parks and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources have worked to improve the water quality and restore the natural habitat around the lake.
As a result of these efforts, the Summit Lake area has become a more attractive destination for residents, visitors, and businesses. New restaurants and shops have opened, and the area has become a hub for artists and creative entrepreneurs. With continued investment and community support, the Summit Lake area is poised to continue its comeback and become a thriving, vibrant community for years to come.

First this property is well maintained. Each room is decorated beautifully. It was clean and comfortable. They owners thought of everything. They had snacks out, a bed, treats, poop bags, lint remover etc for our dog. In the basement there were 2 kennels one small one large.
Highchair if needed. The backyard had a grill and table with chairs and a nice fenced area for the dog. The use of the garage was so convenient. The view was beautiful. Neighbors were nice. Ill definitely be back again as we jave llenty of family in Ohio! Thank you both.

We were here to visit Cuyahoga Valley National Park, which was a 20 minute drive from the property. The park was less than welcoming as many things are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays; our primary touring days.
The house is lovely, clean, and well-maintained with many thoughtful "extras". We even had a remote so we could put our car in the garage (which had kayaks in it)! From a clean, comfortable and well appointed point of view, this is among the nicest VRBO I have stayed in.
The walking trail across the road is a part of the over 100 mile canal Towpath trail which is now a world class walkway/bikeway. We truly enjoyed evening walks along the lakefront while we were there. The neighborhood is a well kept working class one which is fairly convenient to highways, but very quiet.
We would highly recommend this property, but if you are planning to tour the National Park and its nearby shops, plan your visit for Wednesday through Sunday.

My sisters and I enjoyed our stay here very much. The house was immaculate, the bedrooms comfortable, and we had all that we needed. It was really nice to be able to park our cars in the garage. The house is across the street from Summit Lake and we enjoyed watching the birds, strolling around the trail, and sitting on the front porch. The location was convenient to downtown Akron and Cuyahoga Falls. There are no restaurants or grocery stores with in walking distance.

We used this house as a landing spot for our Cuyahoga valley trip. Loved being able to park inside the garage. Beds were very comfortable.

We were there for a family event. The house was convenient to where we needed to be! Enjoyed Big Shot golf which was 10-15 minutes away and close to all interstate thoroughfares (8, 77,76,71). The host were easy to reach and were very helpful! Would recommend if you are needed a house in this area.

The house was very clean and well stocked for everyone in our family. We have five kids ages 1-8 and everyone was able to keep busy without causing trouble! The kitchen had ask the gadgets, snacks, coffee, etc that you would need and then some! The owners reached out to us numerous times to make sure we were comfortable and to check if we needed anything! It was a great stay and the owners were fabulous hosts!!!

Great stay, and well-equipped house. Fully equipped kitchen made full meal prep easy. Great paths for walking around the lake. There were even kayaks in the garage and a foosball table in the basement! There is clearly an effort to improve the neighborhood.

The house had everything we needed and was perfectly clean as pictured. Inside was immaculate. The only drawback was the neighborhood was older and not kept up. We didn’t feel unsafe but had to make it 4 stars for the location and area it is in.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was well laid out and decorated nicely. The beds were comfortable. The small area in the backyard for the dogs was perfect. The best part was the diversity of the neighborhood and friendly people we met on our many walks around the lake and along the canal. We will return! Thanks!

Myself, my husband, my parents, and our 3 kids (3, 12, and 16) came to the Akron area for a gymnastics competition. We had a great weekend and enjoyed our stay! The surrounding neighborhood is a bit run down, but the house is super cute, clean, updated and very nice. We walked around the neighborhood and the bridge on the lake and never felt unsafe and the neighbors we encountered were all friendly. Communication with the owners was easy - quick replies and very friendly and helpful. Cuyahoga Falls national park is a short drive away and made for a lovely Saturday hiking with the family. There was construction across the street, but it never bothered us, and when they finish the walking trails and such, it will be beautiful and make the stay even nicer. Zero complaints about the weekend and if we trip back to the area, we would definitely rent from them again.
