Staff very friendly, room was really good , bed was comfy , breakfast really good omelettes especially

Rural hotel in the middle of nowhere. Staff was helpful. Room vas spacious and relatively modern. Hotel needs lot of work to modernise but i could see they slowly work on it. Bit disappointed with the bar and restaurant area and service. Bar was closed and when opened only some beverages were available. Menu printed and laminated paper is not was i would expect at 4star hotel. Menu was poor as well so ended up eating out.
Bed was comfortable.
Overall ok but bot what i would expect from 4 star hotel

Excellent beds and luxurious executive room. Receptionist/Bar lady was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Nice breakfast . All in all good value.
Please take extra care exiting the car park. We followed another car out not realising that we were going the wrong way on a dual carriageway . Luckily it was a quiet Sunday morning and mistake quickly resolved.
3.7
Good for the price and comfortable. A bit too far out of the way for a night out in town. The smell of sewage hit us as we walked into the reception. It was extremely hot in all corridors which made me feel nauseous. Would consider staying there again only as a quick find/cheap last resort

I had not done the pre check in online as I was traveling where internet reception was not very good. It took time to check in at the machine and in the end, the person at the reception desk had to run back and forth from her computer. I feel that it would be more efficient if the receptionist just stayed at her computer to check in people like us rather than run back and forth.
Beautiful room where breakfast was served.
Nice bed, but bathroom's shower pressure was very poor.
3.7
The shower was terrible no water pressure couldn't hold a constant heat. No water prssure in the tap .

I really enjoy staying at this hotel. Great comfort, friendly staff excellent value
3.7
Although, the room was quite spacious, and tidy, access to rooms was via series of stairs as there was no lift. I had to carry my luggage up the spiral stairs of not less than eight risers. I had a mild back pain afterwards.
The extractor fan in the bathroom was too noisy. Although the switch is located at height, it's also interlocked with light, so switching the fan off also puts out the light.
Overall, good value for money, self check-in, good food.

Staff were great, food was good, hotel was very tired and dated
Ok stay

Stayed here often, staff are very friendly and give excellent service.

Experience room and food staff were excellent especially manager Maria nothing was to much trouble

Carpets needed a good vacuum and clean.
Smell dusty in hall, lift and bedroom.

Needs better signposting upon approach - especially when arriving after dark. Dated rooms - unsightly bathroom shelving - very worn. Carpets worn in places in hallways. Room was clean though, just needs modernising. They are refurbishing the spa/swimming pool, however, feel people booking the hotel for the spa facilities are going to be expecting more modern bedrooms!
Arrived tired and was told, despite there being two receptionists available, that we had to check on at the automated booth next to the reception desk.
I tried to check in twice - both times booking not found. All the time the reception staff were just standing there. Would have been quicker to just check us in themselves! One staff member then tried the booth on my behalf - again; failed. Eventually, after about 15 minutes, they relented and booked us in the human way. Hoorah!!!
Staff seemed stressed and embarrassed by the failing automated system.
Staff were friendly. An okay hotel, especially if like us you just needed a base for the night.
3.7
The hotel is being refurbished but don't let that out you off. The rooms are spacious with decent bath and shower facilities. The staff are top notch, couldn't be any more friendly or helpful. Decent buffet breakfast too! Once the spa facilities are open again this would be my first pic everytime on a visit to Ipswich.
3.7
Quiet and pleasant with nice food.A little difficult to find staff at times!!!Nice garden to sit outside.
3.7
Awful place. Barely any staff covering reception, bar, dining room. Staff were however doing their best. Requested ground floor room and didn’t get it. Room was so hot it was unbearable and windows could barely be opened. Very sad overgrown beer garden. Dark and drab inside the hotel that could do with a really good clean. Pool and spa were closed which was main treason for booking here. Hotel agreed refund as we checked out after 1 of 4 nights (made sure I had written proof). Hotels.com service has been abhorrent.
3.7
Needs refurbishing, very dated. Windows need replacing as you can’t open them to get fresh air, also the secondary glazing was full of condensation in the mornings. The whole hotel smelt of cigarette smoke.
On the plus side it was in a convenient place for our travels.
3.7
One night stay Very comfortable

“The hotel is undergoing refurbishment” says the sign on the door to reception - don’t worry, it’ll look great when it’s finished.”
Clearly in need of the above, the hotel is extremely tired looking throughout, particularly around the back where we had to park as there was no spaces in the main car park. I booked this room for my parents (both in their 70’s) as they were spending the weekend with us. When they checked into their room, it was extremely warm with no air conditioning, just a fan and a threadbare in parts carpet. The bathroom was equally tired and the sink top heavily stained. The TV in their room did not work and although they were told someone would come to help, they didn’t. I emailed the hotel staff the next day, disappointed by hearing the above, and was also promised someone would get back to me - nearly a week later, that’s not happened. Regardless of what any refurbishment work might change at the hotel, there appears to be some more urgent work that just needs to be done in basic customer service skills.

Two staff trying to hold everything together, they were both lovely. Hotel was dirty, room was boiling hot with one tiny fan that did nothing. Mattress and pillows both lumpy and smelt odd. Had to dance around in the shower to get wet.
3.7
Nice Hotel with a nice quiet room on the side of Hotel/back. Quick and easy check in and check out. Breakfast ok, but need another coffee machine and more choice.
3.7
Rundown, noisy, dirty, terrible
3.7
The Beer from the bar was warm, limited food menu and of poor quality, not enough parking spaces.
3.7
Out in the country, but 10 minute drive to Ipswich. Quiet and peaceful. Can't hear the main road traffic.
3.7
I arrived at 21.20 and had to book in by self-service. Although quite elderly, I am computer literate but I am sure that some people would find it difficult.
The room was adequate but I had no cold water in the basin taps, only hot out of both! When I reported this to reception the following morning, the only response that I got was "nobody else has reported it". Not impressed.
The room, 306, was close to a door that closed very loudly and quite late (after 23.30). There were creaking noises from the floorboards in the room above, also quite late.
Breakfast was very good and I left at 07.25 after a rather poor night's sleep. I shall not return.

Old hotel in need of full restoration
3.7
Lovely large twin room. Pool was out of commission which was very disappointing as one of the main reasons we book this hotel. Had to park at the back of hotel which was a bit scary as no lighting and we were two single females. Bar shut early and the breakfast finished early. Room was clean and was a nice large room. Sadly we will not book this hotel again.
3.7
Very pleasant stay. Very large, recently refurbished (I think) room. Shower pressure was a bit low and there could do with more (non-electric) parking spaces.
Disappointing that the spa/swimming pool was closed - this wasn’t made clear at the time of booking.
3.7
Very quiet hotel not many there nice and clean and tidy and good value and decent breakfast. Staff very helpful when check in in
Didn’t like the spa was closed but that was due to refurb.
3.7
No restaurant within five miles. Breakfast buffet available, but only if you pay with credit card.
3.7
The hotel was very quiet and felt run down. No facilities, such as pool or gym were open. This had not been communicated when booking.
The rooms were okay but needed refreshing. The bathroom tiles were chipped and the carpets and chairs had stains. We did couldn’t open the window for any fresh air which wasn’t great.
The fire alarm went off at 3am on Sunday morning around 5 minutes. There was no apology or explanation. Not good enough at all
3.7
Nice place run by.very helpful staff that try the very best for the guests
3.7
Hotel was in need of updating, Pool was closed for refurb and Gym was told wasn't open till afternoon. I booked Hotel based on pool and Gym
3.7
Great stay, great night's sleep and great food

very nice hotel, especially the restaurant is perfect!

The staff are lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant wasn’t open last night but there are lovely pubs in local area. Would definitely recommend.

Whilst I notice other reviewers mention refurbishment, there was not much disruption when I visited (early May 2024) Plus points - Check in was easy and very welcoming.
Bedroom was spacious, modern, clean and facilities in room were good. There was a bath and shower over which was nice and although the bathroom definitely did need refurbishment (was dated and showing wear and tear) it was clean, which was the most important thing. The bed was comfortable and I slept well which I don't often do in a hotel! For me a huge plus was location (very easy when coming from the west country) and the EV chargers - these were a revelation as there were several and I was able to re-charge overnight so I will definitely book this hotel again, just for this convenience. Cons - just the fact that the restaurant seemed to be closed so no breakfast option. One other thing for the hotel to note, whilst it didn't impact me, there were petrol vehicles parked in two of the EV charging bays for the duration of my stay which could have been frustrating for other EV drivers. Otherwise a great stay and IMO better that other chain hotels at a similar price point.
3.7
We enjoyed our stay here, the hotel is ideally situated for trips into Ipswich. Its a shame though the hotel is looking a bit tired. Its in need of a good revamp to bring it back to it's former glory.
I would still recommend anybody to stay the staff were very helpful and respective.

We had a great stay at the BW Ipswich. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms clean and airy. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Car park conveniently in front of reception. PodPoint EV charger on site. Only a few other guests staying which might be because it's being renovated but we suffered no inconvenience from that at all. Some of the common areas are looking a bit tired and will welcome the forthcoming renovation but our room was freshly decorated and above average size with a large comfortable bed and good sized bathroom. Restaurant and gym are not yet re-opened but SkyTV in the bar area was a bonus. A really good VFM weekend stay.
3.7
Completely lacking in atmosphere and attention to detail. The spa and swimming pool were advertised as being open on line, but on arrival I found that they had not been available for some time
