About this house rental
Immerse yourself in the soothing coastal breezes at this newly renovated oceanfront home, nestled along the pristine Cape Hatteras National Seashore. This custom designed island retreat is one of a kind - boasting luxurious touches that can be hard to find in the rustic Outer Banks. Make a splash in the pool by day, stargaze from the hot tub at night, collect seashells in the morning under the ethereal pastel sunrises. These are just a few of the things that guests love to do at The Sandpiper.
The open living area sits beneath a cathedral ship lap ceiling. For cooler nights, turn on the electric fireplace and cozy up to a movie on the new 65 inch LG 4K Smart TV where you can connect to your favorite streaming services, watch cable television, or search the extensive database of free shows and movies on the LG Channels app. The living room couch pulls out into a queen-sized bed, enabling a total of 14 guests to comfortably stay in the home.
Cook a meal while not missing any of the fun, in this open concept kitchen with an expansive island and plenty of countertop space. Enjoy the use of the new GE appliances, including built in air fryers in the oven and microwave. This kitchen is fully equipped with assorted glassware, silverware, spatulas, cutlery, Keurig coffee maker, electric instant water heater, toaster, blender, bakeware, pots and pans and so much more! You’re sure to have everything needed to enjoy meals at home while staying at The Sandpiper.
There are five thoughtfully designed bedrooms for relaxing and restoration – three of which are master bedrooms – all connected to an ensuite bathroom. Two of the master bedrooms are connected to a Jack and Jill bathroom that has a luxurious stand-up shower with a bench, where you can stand beneath cascading water coming from a ceiling waterfall shower. All three of the master bedrooms have ceiling fans, blinds/black-out curtains, and new 32-inch LG 4K Smart TVs mounted on the walls for your enjoyment. The bunk bedroom and twin bedroom are perfect for kids to create lasting memories in, and both are situated next to a full bathroom for convenience. Each room has its own character and benefits to enjoy.
There are four decks off the home - one with a cushioned outdoor lounge area which is perfect for relaxing or reading a book, two facing the sand dune and ocean off the back of the home, where you can relax in one of the many Adirondack chairs, while listening to the waves or watching the kids play in the private pool. The last deck is screened in with a six-person dining area and foosball table. The 6-person hot tub perfectly situated on the top deck to watch sail boats pass by in the distance during the day or star-gaze at night, while hearing the waves crash against the coast. Pro-tip – turn off all the lights in the house to experience pure serenity from the hot tub under the moon and stars!
The private pool and hot tub are serviced regularly. We have also put a couple rafts, beach toys, boogie boards, beach chairs, pool noodles and crabbing nets in the beach toy bin under the house for your enjoyment. Turkish beach towels are also provided in the linen closet for your use. The pool has the option of being heated to 88 degrees, to help make it even more enjoyable, the cost for having the pool heated is $70 per day. The pool is open from the last week in March and can be open as late as mid-November, if requested.
Follow the pathway off the back of the home to the boardwalk that leads up to a serene beach, which you and your family may have all to yourselves sometimes during the day or night. Cape Hatteras National Seashore is known for its undeveloped pristine beaches which stretch for miles in either direction. There is plenty of space to sprawl out and enjoy a day at the beach. Keep an eye out for dolphins which occasionally visit. Rinse off in the outdoor shower under the home and enjoy a mid-day picnic at the large picnic table under the home.
In addition to the private pool and hot tub, the subdivision has tennis courts (available Memorial Day through Labor Day), and a lake with a wildlife viewing area where you can spot beautiful birds, turtles, and even a couple of otters.
Recently purchased (Fall of 2023) Graco High Chair and Pack and Play are both available at the house and free to use.
There is no shortage of things to do and see in the Outer Banks - from kite surfing, boogie boarding, surfing, jet skiing, sailing, exploring nearby wildlife refuges such as the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge and the many sand dunes, as well as fishing - either deep sea, or right off the shore - there is a fish cleaning station off the back of the home. Don’t miss the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse which is just a short drive from the home. Upon booking the home, we will send you our complete Welcome Guide so that you’ll have a local guide to places to eat, visit, take lessons, and rent equipment. We created a peaceful haven for you to rejuvenate, relax, play, and more. We hope you’ll consider staying at The Sandpiper.

This is a very attractive house and is very nicely decorated. I gave it less than 5 stars because the house is advertised to sleep 13 people; however, there are only 8 dining chairs and no extra inside. There are 2 chairs on the deck and 2 chairs by the pool. We really needed more seating for our crew. The downstairs advertises 2 master king bedrooms; however, the bedrooms share a bathroom and to me, that is not a king master if you don't have your own bathroom. The kitchen was lacking in spoons (yes as in silverware) and there was no pantry to store our non-perishable food. The kitchen did have a great knife set and nice coffee maker. Lastly, the house is lower than the neighboring houses, so that you cannot see the ocean over the dunes. It would have been nice to have an ocean view, since we paid for oceanfront. This is a nice house, and it is in a quiet neighborhood. The owners were very responsive to all of my questions, but I just don't think it was big enough for our family of 11.

Just got back from an amazing trip to the Sandpiper. We booked the sandpiper for our wedding venue and we were not disappointed. Had amazing weather and the house is beautiful/perfect location where you have the opportunity to find privacy if you like but still close enough to stores. Also has a very short walk to the beach which we used every day.
Owner Josh was very responsive with a question regarding the hot tub. Was able to resolve in minutes.
My family and friends are already looking forward to our next OBX vacation. It was a special week for sure.

Driving on Sea Vista Drive with the windows open.... we came upon The Sand Piper. We could feel the ocean breeze and when we looked up, there were the double, wooden doors under The Sandpiper placard. The photos did a wonderful job of showing the love and care that went in to this beautiful home... but what you feel is so magical as you walk through the doors. The rooms were spacious, clean and thoughtfully planned out from the towels to the beach/ocean themed decor. A few more steps up and you are greeted into an oasis of light, comfortable furnishings, and a heavenly kitchen. The decks, on both floors, were furnished with chairs... and then, because we couldn't wait, down to the ocean with my pups, Finn and Fiona. There is a gorgeous wooden boardwalk and a path below with a few steps. The ocean did not disappoint and we were able to collect a vast collection of sea shells peacefully amongst the Sandpipers and pelicans. Combing for sea shells at sunrise are some of my fondest memories. In the living room, there is a notebook that provides information, a check off list, and other helpful advice for restaurants and sight seeing. The bathrooms were luxurious and the showers were just like a rainfall. I am also happy that we paid to have the swimming pool heated; we were able to use it two days and it was wonderful to step into a warm pool. I highly recommend The Sandpiper and will be this fall! Thank you Josh and Kimberly for our dreamy vacation in your picturesque home!

Our family loved staying at this oceanfront home. The house was perfect for our vacation needs and very clean. We all liked the layout of the home from the open kitchen and living space which is great for entertaining to essentially having three master bedroom-sized rooms is a big bonus. Access to the beach from the home is great and the home is nestled nicely in a great community. The owners also nicely renovated and decorated the home - great job there. During our stay, we had a major storm come through with high winds and the home was super sturdy during the entire event. We really loved staying there and kudos goes out to the hosts for their quick responses to our inquiries. Our entire group rates this property as 5 stars, well done.

We had a girls trip to the Outer Banks and enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and comfortable and the location was very good--close to the beach, convenient boardwalk to access the beach and a quiet neighborhood. We liked being away from the crowds that are more common in the northern section of the OBX and liked the fall time of year which also avoided a lot of crowds. There were prompt communications with the owners in leasing and responding to questions throughout.
A few issues that need improvement: the jacuzzi only heats to 99 degrees and it would be more comfortable if it could be increased a few more degrees. It was not clear if it was not fully functioning or if it was locked in at that maximum temperature. The screen door to the main floor living room deck was difficult to slide open and closed and needs adjusting. The upstairs master BR closet clothes rod is too short and falls to the floor, hence we were unable to hang any clothes on it. Some detailed instructions on how to operate the electric fireplace as well as the cable TV would be helpful. Overall, we would consider leasing this VRBO again.

Great beach location, nice place and amenities. Enjoyed the small town feel and made friends with a few of the locals while out enjoying the walkable bars at night.

Wow what a house! We enjoyed our stay immensely with such close access to the beach in a newly renovated house. While it has clean and modern appointments in all the rooms, what really makes a vacation house great is all the small details like the turkish towels, board games, and the waterfall faucet for washing off sandy feet in the outdoor shower. I hope we get to rent this house again next summer!

If it was even possible, the home is more beautiful in person then it is the pictures. We felt like we stayed in a renovated home by Chip and Joanna Gains. The sunrise views over the ocean from the upper deck and windows were spectacular. The King size bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable. The queen size bed also cradled us to sleep even though we were used to sleeping in a King. All of the bathrooms were luxurious and gave a 5 star hotel feel. The kitchen was equipped well for preparing your own meals and cooking in such a beautiful space made us never want to leave. Unfortunately the weather was cold most of the time during our stay so we did not use the pool very much. However we were able to enjoy the hot tub more than we thought we would which is also a great seat to a morning sunrise. Our family truly enjoyed our time here and even when we were stuck inside on a cold, rainy day, we never felt sad about it because the home was so nice and filled with amenities to keep everyone happy. We hope we can stay again sometime in the future… that is if we can find an open date. Thanks for making a great place to stay! :D

Our group (two families - 4 adults and 4 kids) loved the home. The house is recently renovated and is beautiful on the inside. We stayed for Memorial Day on probably the rainiest and coldest Memorial Day that I can remember. Luckily we were in a great house. There was plenty of room for the kids to spread out, great tv’s for video games, a foosball table the kids loved, and the hot tub was the perfect place to spend the cold days and evenings.
We appreciated the little details like the kitchen being well stocked with everything we needed, TONS of towels, a great welcome/information guide, beach toys and chairs to use (we did eventually have one sunny and warm afternoon to use them), and plenty of toilet paper and other essentials to get us started when we arrived.
We’d definitely recommend this home to anyone.
