Steve and Mandy and their staff are amazing hosts! We loved our visit to the Thorverton Arms and its village setting. It served as a great base to see historical locations in the area, visit the south coast and beaches, as well as being near to Exeter. The food in the restaurant was fresh with very large portions. Lorraine is delightful offering a friendly demeanour and helpful and approachable attitude. The pub portion of the TA is lively and friendly as well.

Quirky and cute character pub. The hosts were amazing and the food was exceptional.
Nothing.

Great staff, friendly and helpful. Room was fine - everything necessary was provided. Thought the £10 additional dog fee was a little excessive £5 would have been adequate for any additional cleaning which may have been necessary. Great room rate - very comfortable, warm and cosy. Would recommend.
Thought the £10 admin fee for a dog was a little over the odds but overall a great stay.

What a fantastic place and family that run it, we were welcomed with open arms from the moment we checked in. Mandy was exceptional she went above and beyond and was no nice and helpful. The food in both the restaurant and the bar was fantastic and all the staff were lovely, they even made us something that wasn't on the menu. Mandy even arranged a bit of karaoke for us in the bar after I jokingly mentioned it, we had a fabulous time. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Nothing it was perfect.

The pub garden had decent furniture.
The car park at the rear always had enough space.
The village was cute.
The entire front of the hotel was covered from roof to floor in a white sheet plastic covering.
This included full scaffolding as well.
Our bedroom (#3) was very small. It has a small single window.
Any 'view' from the window was entirely obscured by scaffolding and the sheeting.
Very little air could circulate.
The bedroom carpet was worse for wear and obviously unclean.
The furnishings and woodwork looked dated and chipped.
Prior to our stay, the owner phoned me to say that there was 'some scaffolding on the building, which hopefully will be gone before we arrive'.
As we had travelled a long distance and were tired, we stayed the night. The next morning we asked a staff member to move us, but all the rooms were booked. We asked for a fan and got one.
Had we not been visiting friends nearby for a wedding anniversary, we would have searched for other accommodation.

Beautiful village. Downstairs the pub is welcoming. Staff very friendly.
Room was small, decor tired, carpet thin, could feel the coils in the mattress, wall of bathroom had faint stains. Window looked out onto scaffolding and plastic sheeting that covered the building, so no view of the outdoors at all. Just really disappointing, and not worth the money.

Friendly, reasonably priced, good food.
Fantastic landlord and landlady.
Ongoing refurbishment, scaffold around front of pub but soon to be removed.

The pub is lovely and quirky
The room I had was noisy and unfortunately the previous occupant broke the shower. This was waiting for a part !!

Friendly and helpful staff, nice food in the restaurant.
Building is currently covered in scaffolding, was too hot in the room, not enough parking

The location was very convenient for my visit to the area. Great to have a place on the doorstep to walk the dog. I did not eat at all at the venue as I was out of the venue before breakfast was to be served at 8am.
I had a vague feeling that I had stayed here before and when I was shown where the room was I remembered. Last time I stayed in room 5, which was basically a cupboard with a shower and toilet. This time I stayed in room 6 next door that was ever so slightly bigger but did have a double bed in it. Unfortunately most of the rooms back onto the garden outside area and because it was a hot night there were a few people sitting in the garden who were particularly loud. Thankfully they moved off around 10pm and I breathed a sigh of relief when suddenly the outside lights went on and lit the bedroom up better that the ceiling light in the room. Then the smokers moved in and spent a while arguing over a bungalow they had visited by which time my eyeballs were on fire - I just wanted to sleep and had no alternative but to try and shut out some of the noise by closing the window and suffering the lack of fresh air. I know this business has new owners and I wish them well but as a stopover if you are travelling with a pet be aware. Sorry.

Thorverton is a very pretty village. The coffee at breakfast was good. Food portion sizes were very big! Staff were friendly.
I would have liked to see a menu for breakfast; it was hard to know what to ask for.
I am used to finding a welcome note in the room when I stay in a B&B with things like wifi password, check in/ out times and breakfast times. So I would have been glad of those details. But overall it was a comfortable place to stay.

Staff great, food fantastic nice pub
Accommodation was distressed, breakfast disorganised (although good food) and the bill was not itemised. The front of the pub was sheeted over for repairs so we could not see out of window made worse as we were not told about this when we booked. We would have moved to alternative accommodation if we were able even if we needed to pay more. All Because of the disappointment when we arrived. Proved to less of a problem than first thought.

A lovely stay two nights at a wonderful country pub. Staff were so friendly and couldnt do enough for you. We would stay again !! Family run pub and the owners Mandy and Steve work so hard to make you extremely welcome.
They have only been in the pub a year and are slowly updating the rooms

Lovely place in a lovely location. Great food and staff, even the locals are friendly.
I had a dog, and Millenium Field just 40 or so yards away was perfect. Even has a stream to cool down in, after chasing the ball.
The room, the food, the staff, the location
