About this cabin rental
To refer to Mayflower as a "Lodge" is, perhaps, presumptuous but in 1936 when my parents were offered the use of "Mayflower Lodge" for their honeymoon they were very happy to accept. One of the first buildings on Silver Lake, it had no running water, no electricity, and an outhouse. But what a view! They continued to return to Silver Lake their whole lifetime, building a camp and retiring there until their passing. Their descendants still call Silver Lake "home" with 4 generations of camp owners present. This magical lakefront antique cabin is only 6 miles from Augusta Maine and has been updated with new stainless appliances, new bedding, sofas and outdoor patio furniture, and a ROKU Smart TV and internet. The interior is entirely knotty pine including walls, ceiling and floors. There is original art, Native American pieces and even an authentic deer antler chandelier made with real shed antlers! There are 2 Stand Up Paddleboards, a 2 person Kayak, 2 single person kayaks, an aluminum row boat and a canoe for your use. No fees! In the summer months the lake water rises for comfortable swimming in it's crystal clear water. The most stunning feature of Mayflower is the huge covered balcony deck with lounge seating for 4 as well as a dining table and chairs for 4 so do enjoy those camp meals outside as you watch the sun setting to the West. Or you could take a meal sitting under the umbrella at the lower deck waterfront picnic table! Come stay and enjoy a paddle around the lake and listen to the resident loons and experience a true Maine vacation in this beautiful part of Maine. We still call it Mayflower Lodge.

This little cottage was just fine for three retired nursing friends to go meet the Cabin Masters, and eat some great lobster rolls at the Woodshed! Spent time in Boothbay Harbor and Camden. Gordon was very friendly and the cottage was extremely clean!

My husband and I spent 3 days at this quiet oasis jut a few minutes from Augusta and Belgrade Lakes. We sat on the dock, played cards, took walks, listened to loons, and shared beautiful sunsets. The lodge is so tastefully decorated and upgraded! Gordon, the owner, was wonderful and made us feel at home. didwanwant to leave.

Enjoyed every minute of our 2 week stay in the
Silliker’s cabin on Silver Lake. The hosts were so nice and made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing, fun visit. Lake was beautiful at all hours and cosy cabin’s decor gave us the sense of truly being in Maine. Hope to return!

This cabin was great for me and my friends to do a long weekend stay. The location right on the lake was a great vibe and I loved the cabin overall. The old log cabin-y decor along with the updated appliances made for a very cozy stay. The location also proved to be great as we were just a short drive away from any shops and stores that we needed to stop by. The one thing I did not appreciate was the overbearing check in process. After already making a phone call to the office that manages the building alerting them of our arrival, the next day the property manager stopped by unannounced to check in on us. While I appreciate the purpose of the gesture, this felt like an invasion of privacy and made us uneasy the rest of the stay wondering if they'd drop by again. Again, the purpose of the gesture was appreciated, but prior notice that they'd be stopping by the cabin also would've been appreciated.

This cabin is a perfect retreat in the Maine woods. We had a wonderful time enjoying the lake's crystal clear water especially with all the watertoys . The cabin was good sized and super clean. Roy was so friendly and easy to deal with it made the whole vacation a pleasure. We will be back next summer.

My husband and our 22 and 19 yr old son’s arrived to find the cabin clean and containing everything we needed to make our stay comfortable.
The kitchen has plenty of dishes and utensils. We loved the cabin themed dishes! A choice of a Keurig coffee machine or a drip coffee maker was nice. The appliances are new and everything worked perfectly! The kitchen also had a supply of napkins, paper towels, etc. which is always nice for anyone who might have forgotten to bring their own.
The cabin is a fun environment, really a throwback to earlier times. Love the decor and antiques hanging on walls and placed around the living area.
The beds all have plaid bedspreads which fit the theme perfectly. The bed linens are a very good quality and we appreciated that. The towels and beach towels are also very nice and top quality, another nice touch.
The bathroom has plenty of hooks for towels. The tub is a claw foot style and very deep. This could pose a problem for someone who cannot easily lift their leg up and/or has balance issues. I held onto the edge of the sink when climbing in to take a shower.
The beds were very comfortable, the seating on the deck is very nice. The wifi worked great as did the smart TV. We used the kayaks and rowboat, too.
You feel like you’re away from everything but only 10 min away is Augusta where there are quite a few fun looking restaurants and bars.
It was a very nice stay.

We had such a great time here and would definitely recommend staying here. The cabin has everything you need, and is very cozy. The porch is amazing! We spent every morning and evening outside. Be sure you sit on the dock at night and look at the stars...it's incredible what you can see without all of the light pollution from a city!
There are restaurants and stores close by, but you feel like you are a world away at this cabin. We even had a bald eagle at the lake one morning! It's a great location to stay if you want to do more than just the coast or the lakes. We went to the coast, and also went to Baxter state park. The hosts are very friendly and available for anything you could need. We had a fabulous time and would certainly stay at the Mayflower Lodge again!

Owners were wonderful and helpful. House was clean and comfortable with all the things you would need to have. The lake is very clean and we could see bass swimming around from the 2nd story deck. Enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you Roy and Anita!!

I loved everything about this cottage! It was really cute on the inside, but the porch was beyond fabulous! We spent a lot of time on the covered porch overlooking Silver Lake, watching the sunset or the rain and listening to the loons! The lake was super clean and the hosts provided kayaks, paddleboards and a row boat! It had everything we needed. We had the pleasure of meeting Roy and Anita when we arrived and they were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend staying here!

We’ve stayed all over Maine in the last 8 years, coastal and mountain, way north and west. I have realized being on a lake is the way to go for me. The water is warmer and swimming excellent. I have to say Silver Lake and the Mayflower Lodge were truly magical and not too far a commute from Boston. The lake is extremely clean you can watch fish and turtles under the surface from the perfectly perched porch on the cabin. The lake mirrored the surroundings and sky as it was quite still while we were there. The owner has all the water crafts needed to explore, fish or float.
The cabin is excellent and in great shape with plenty of areas to hang out. There’s dining areas inside and on the porch, as well as on the lower deck. There’s multiple sitting areas as well. The porch was a favorite to relax and watch the lake. Eagles, Loons, a Blue Heron and many smaller birds were interesting to watch. The interior has interesting architecture and lines, all knotty pine, crisp and clean.
The goal was to relax and this spot did just that.
Away from it all yet close to conveniences and not too far from the coast, if you are looking for that vibe.
We will definitely return to Mayflower Lodge.
Perfect for single traveler, a couple or 2 or small family.

This property was amazing! Beautiful view of the lake with swimming and boating such fun. The inside had all the comforts of home with all the necessities available you could need. The property owners were more than accommodating. From the upper porch we were able to listen to the loons, watch an osprey, and awe at the blue heron noisily flying by. A place worth visiting again.
