We are located 15 min from Sandpoint, 40 min from Schweitzer Mountain Resort, 46 miles from Silverwood Theme Park and just a 90 minute drive to the Spokane Airport.

It is the perfect getaway to make lasting memories with friends and family!

Welcome to the Donovan House, a tranquil oasis nestled amidst the stunning natural beauty of Hope, Idaho. Perched above the shores of a pristine lake PendOrielle, this neighborhood offers residents breathtaking views of the water and majestic mountains that surround it.

Water enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise, with endless opportunities for boating, fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding right at their doorstep. The crystal-clear waters of the lake beckon residents to explore its depths and indulge in the serenity of water view living.

For Winter Reservations: If your booking is during the winter months, please note that while we provide snow removal services to keep the driveway clear, Idaho’s winter weather can be unpredictable. The property’s elevated location and sloping driveway require a 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicle for safe access.
For winter driving in the area, we recommend equipping your vehicle with snow tires and packing tire chains. Be sure to test your chains beforehand to ensure they fit your tires properly. This will help you navigate not only the property but also the surrounding roads safely during snowy or icy conditions.

The Donovan House
Nestled atop a picturesque hill, The Donovan House offers stunning views and a peaceful retreat for guests looking to escape into nature. The home’s elevated position ensures privacy and tranquility, but during the winter months, it becomes an adventure! A 4-wheel drive vehicle is required to navigate the sloping driveway, adding a touch of excitement to your stay. Whether you're seeking cozy winter nights by the fireplace or a summer escape, The Donovan House provides the perfect blend of comfort and charm in a serene hillside setting.

The Space:

The Donovan house was built in 1907 by the Donovan family in the early days of Hope. The house is newly renovated with a touch of Scandinavian + Mid Century Modern accents. Available are 2 full baths, 3 bedrooms + a loft, comfortably sleeping 8 adults. Beautiful views from all areas of the house but the best view is from the primary bedroom + loft upstairs. The house has spacious deck for dining al fresco, watching the train pass by + of course views of the lake. Hope is a stunning 20 min drive from Sandpoint. It is the “deep” side of the lake with boat launch access year round. Hope as two marina’s, with access to boat + jet ski rentals. There are a handful of wonderful restaurants within minutes of the house.

We are located 15 min from Sandpoint, 40 min from Schweitzer Mountain Resort, 46 miles from Silverwood Theme Park and just a 90 minute drive to the Spokane Airport.


Guest will have access to the entire property + house. We do have two kayaks for use if you have means to get them down to the lake.

We do have trains that pass by the house day / night. They are not allowed to use their horns but there are sounds to be expected (however we don’t even notice any longer. :))

We are in the final stages of building a new home next door. There is a possibility of periodic construction sounds + occasionally we will be on property next door when the Donovan house is rented.



No shoes can be worn upstairs or on carpeted areas.

No photo shoots or events of any kind allowed on the property without prior approval.

Please do not park at the post office, they will have your vehicle towed at owners expense

The driveway is ONE WAY. Please stay to the left and follow the driveway up + cross in front of the house + follow it around to the back of the house, clockwise.
