We were right at the center of the city. Great place to stay for being close to everything.
I liked everything about this hotel.
6.0 / 10.0
Top floor and views . Fittings good quality and modernised to fit the old style of the hotel.
Staff pleasant and polite .
Breakfast room bright airy very clean and nice continental breakfast options .
Very small freestanding bath with plastic shower curtain in room precarious for most adults. Lighting in bathroom poor for makeup application .
Lack of space to plug in kettle which had to be placed on floor .
Lack of alternative plug sockets -only one on the floor accessed by extension socket.
Safe is very narrow approx 6 inches wide and 12 inch tall so don’t bring a lot of bulky valuables . The safe is also set in a cupboard on the floor which requires one to kneel to access it !
Annoyed that had we booked the day before we could have paid 30% less than with Booking.com charged .

Breakfast was good with enough selection of everything, but if you prefer a decent espresso in the morning you should get it somewhere else.
The personal was extremely friendly, especially the receptionists.
The hotel is in a busy area which can be pro or a con depending on your preferences. However, with the windows closed we slept well.
If you travel with more than hand luggage finding space to put is a challenge. We had to re-arrange the room a bit to find space for our 2 suitcases.

Huge buffet breakfast, the high point of which was honey from a real honeycomb. Central location
The kettle in the (small) room could only be used on the floor. Only window overlooked construction work on new metro line.

This entire experience was lovely. From staff greeting us as we arrived, to having the room ready earlier for us to check in to bringing up a sweet surprise for our birthday celebration. Location was amazing and the rooms were so comfortable and pretty! We had a beautiful view!
Every night you can go down to the front desk and enjoy complimentary port and pastel de nata. There is a restaurant downstairs as well. We did not enjoy but it’s convenient. Also a great selection of restaurants to choose from.

A wonderful oasis in a lovely little square. A little noisy at night but with doors shut tight no problem. The restaurant on the first floor had delicious drinks. Cindy and the rest of the reception staff were wonderful and went over and beyond our expectations.
Noisy square but otherwise perfect location.

The room was lovely and had a balcony. The food was excellent. We had both tapas and breakfast there. The location was very central to all the cultural specialties- churches, Cristal park and the Lello library
Construction on the new subway system is 24 hours a day. The room was quite sound proof but the construction made things difficult, especially walking around.

Location is fantastic, beautiful building sympathetically restored, fantastic breakfast helpful staff
While I understand the issues with old buildings and the difficulty in creating well ventilated bathrooms I think more could be done to improve the mould and mildew in such small ensuites. A deep clean and freshen up every few months will help keep these upto 4 star standard. But I would definitely stay here again

A gem of a hotel. The staff were excellent friendly and always available. The breakfast was really good cooked/ continental and even fresh honey from the hive. Central location on a main street lots going on restuarants bars shops. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
Everything exceeded our expectations.

The staff was incredible. The food was amazing. Breakfast had a wide range of options, some good and some mediocre but you can just have what you like. Champaign included during breakfast (but nespesso coffee at breakfast was a letdown). My main complaint is how they handled parking. They have a place they reccomend for parking. There’s currently a construction project in front of the hotel that blocks access to cars. This creates a situation where you have to haul luggage through a narrow and steep medieval town and then park far away and lug yourself to the hotel. What the hotel should be doing is recommending a taxi to meet you at the parking lot and pick you up from there with your luggage.
That one issue aside, this was a fabulous hotel with amazing staff and a good concept. Highly reccomend. I would return if the price were right - they tend to overcharge. It’s worth paying up to 250 per night. Any more than that seems too much for what you get. But again, it’s a good hotel with a good concept

The location was wonderful and staff were helpful and lovely. The soundproofing was impressive and the breakfasts offered a great selection of options.
The lights were very confusing to figure out. It would have been helpful to have a staff person explain these.

The room was clean and the hotel staff was awesome.
Outside noise was an issue. We were not able to sleep until all the restaurants were closed (after 12 midnight).
We were not able to learn to control the lighting, too many switches. No free electrical outlets for charging phones.
The room felt small. Tub was small. When showering, water sprayed everywhere.

The location in Porto was perfect. The breakfast buffet outstanding. But the best part of "1829" was the staff. A great 4 night stay.

The excellent location and lovely staff.
The coffee in the room, only 1 sachet of not so good instant coffee per person.

wonderful location, many nearby restaurants and shops. our train leaving town was canceled due to a strike and the front desk staff helped us arrange alternate transportation and another night stay. they made a stressful situation much better. the rooms are very well designed.

Location was amazing, right in the heart of Porto. The room had a great view. Breakfast was fabulous and they gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne and a slice of birthday cake which was a lovely surprise.
Buildings works for the new metro are quite near the hotel but the noise wasn't that bad and it was kept to normal working hours.

Perfect location in the heart of the old part of the city. Easy access to all of the attractions.
Bathroom layout could have been a bit more private.
