Supermarkets and a Mall is not far away, some day trips might be cheaper to book at the hostel instead of booking with an agency. I felt always safe when I was walking outside even that the hostel is on a main road without many buildings around. The WiFi was pretty good inside my room.
Communication on what’s app before my arrival time was a bit complicated as I had to ask many times for confirmation and to get some informations. At the end my booked trip on my arrival day to Amboseli park didn’t work and I had to wait one day more to do that trip. I think it was not pretty much my vibe in the hostel but at least the people were friendly and it’s a good low budget option for a few days in Nairobi.

No power expectations, no hot shower, not good breakfast

I loved staying at Jabulani. The location in Westland is good, (though a bit hard to find for taxis etc.) Probably because It’s new. Susan is the best host ever. She helps with everything and organized a fantastic safari trip to Masai Mara for me as well. The hostel is quite small, the atmosphere great and people tend to come back all the time. Reunions and hugs. Shopping malls, atm’s, restaurants etc is just 5 minutes walk away. I will for sure come back.

Location is perfect and central to a lot in the Westlands. Safe hostel with a good group of international guests. The host Susan is very knowledgeable and relatable in providing guests with important info about Nairobi and places to go. Laundry being available to guests is clutch for nomadic travelers.
Could have more vegan/vegetarian options for guests who don't eat meat and wifi can be spotty if you are a digital nomad or remote worker.

Jabulani reminded me of the reason why we all travel; even with the focus of staying to explore and experience new places, for me it's about calling a place home. Making new friends that bonds for a lifetime. And Jabulani is the perfect place to do that. I think Susan, and her kind heart makes this much more comfortable for every traveller in Jabulani. Would always come back to NAIROBI to stay here.

There are big sturdy beds, thoroughly cleaned facilities, an absolute gem of hostel manager (Suzannah) and good vibes at night to hang out with other guests

Excellent hospitality, yes!
Great location, yes!
Hostel and backpacking vibe, yes!
Susan is a great host, and she is running a great hostel. I got loads of great local tips from her, and it feels like a home away from home.
Everything was perfect, I know where to stay once I'm back in Nairobi
Nothing to dislike

Every morning a nice filling breakfast with 2 types of fruit, brown bread toast or chapati or samosa, egg or sausage, coffee. Almost different every day (included in the price if you are a genius).
Comfortable bunk wider than average with curtain and power outlet, quiet at the rear of the building.
Several common area spaces both inside and outside (rear and front).
At a central location in Westlands (Nairobi) with Sarit Mall closeby, Carrefour and Naivas supermarkets, major banks, market with cheap local food stalls, but more sophisticated restaurants in the vicinity as well. Well linked to central Nairobi with public transport such as Matatu's and Boda Boda.
Well equipped kitchen and the place is kept very clean.
Excellent host who is interested in her guests and helpful in solving any issues. She is an experienced traveler herself.
A problem with WiFi and hot shower was satisfactorily solved. Make sure you report any problem. It will be fixed asap.
Stayed three weeks and will return.

Merci !
