A trullo (traditional Apulian dry stone hut with a conical roof), on the way back home, the smile of a welcoming Apulian lady, a chat in front of a good glass of wine: this is what happened every day at the Osteria Vino, where Zia Angelina opened the doors of her trullo and the workers allowed themselves a moment of refreshment before returning home. Seventy years later, Giuseppe opens the doors of that trullo once again and thanks to careful renovation, in 2022 he creates Trulli Biancapetra (petra in the local vernacular means stone): a complex of trulli and, close by, a classic-style annex. An ideal haven to enjoy a break in the spirit of Apulia, the villa is a charming and evocative location, white and stony as the Apulian architecture. Here you will savour the history and tradition that will take you back in time; on the one hand the beauty and uniqueness of an ancient, welcoming and fragrant nature, on the other an unforgettable stay in the enchanting setting of the Apulian countryside. The entire property enjoys an extremely privileged position because it is halfway between the Ionian and Adriatic seas. This will allow you to reach the marina of Brindisi and the nature reserve of Torre Guaceto as well as the enchanting Ionian beaches in about half an hour. Further inland, you can explore the Itria Valley with its large farms, vineyards and olive groves, and then move on to nearby Ostuni with its fascinating historic centre, about a kilometer away. Please note: in a part of the property located behind the annex and well delimited, there is the owners' home and their access gate is independent and separate from the property. The owners do not use the park and swimming pool which are at exclusive use of the guests.
Interior:
Trulli Biancapetra consists of two, single-floor structures a few metres apart. The main trullo is composed of the dining room at the entrance, the true heart of the home which connects all the rooms: a small kitchenette with a two-burner stovetop (accessible through an arch 1.60 m high), three double bedrooms (one with queen-size bed) with ensuite bathroom with shower, an alcove that can be used as a relaxation area and, if necessary, with two additional beds (double bed). The annex (on the opposite side of the structure inhabited by the owners and with independent entrance) is composed of a double bedroom and a bathroom with shower. The laundry is located in a room outside the trullo. Air conditioning in the bedrooms.
Park:
Countless plants of viburnum act as a fence around the entire property (not suitable, however, for the safety of pets) which extends for more than four hectares. A short stretch of dirt road, bordered by bushes of oleander, extends an invitation to explore the interior of the park which is accessed by a comfortable Corten swing gate. Once in the park, an elegant pine and two enormous eucalyptus trees dominate the 500 metres of the area; pomegranates and orange trees brush against the stone walls of the buildings, while patches of lantana, lavender and prickly pear grow lushly amongst the expanse of olive trees that delimit the entire area. In the large park guests will have at their disposal a convenient private covered parking area, reachable on foot and located to the east of the structure, a characteristic outdoor gazebo complete with table with chairs and a fixed barbecue, ideal for outdoor dining. Towards the west is a relaxation area directly on the lawn under a centuries-old olive tree and consisting of three rough-hewn seats with cushions and, always on the same side but facing the swimming pool, a gazebo furnished with three sofas and a coffee table which accentuates the shabby discreet elegance of the entire property. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
The rectangular, south-facing swimming pool of 40 sq m (4 x 10 m) with its varying depth of 1.20 to 1.50 m, making it perfectly safe for children, is visible from every corner of the property. With Roman steps for access to the water, the pool is lined in PVC, with hydromassage jets on two sides and is surrounded by a large stoneware-paved solarium with sunbeds and an umbrella, close to a rectangular concrete cube with a large cushion. A cold-water shower in the shade of a centuries-old olive tree, a wooden gazebo furnished with table and sofa and lights both inside the pool and along the perimeter frame the beautiful context of this corner of Apulian countryside. The pool is available from the first Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October.
