Lovely helpful personell, excellent breakfast.

For a London central hotel this was amazing value, with gorgeous spacious rooms.
Still what you expect with stairs/no lift etc being central London, but by far the nicest ive stayed in in the affordable price range!

We had a one night stay in London before returning home. Our room was clean and very roomy. Air conditioning and a ceiling fan cooled it down nicely (an odd warm spell while we were there).
We had interaction with various members of the staff during check in, eating dinner in the pub, and check out. They were all very friendly and helpful.
We arrived before check in, stashed our bags in a storage room and headed out to see the sights. We were on the top floor of the hotel and had to climb 3 steep and tight stairs. Something to keep in mind if you plan to book here. No issues for us and they did carry up our suitcases from the storage room while we were sightseeing.
We had dinner and the included breakfast in the pub and both were delicious.
Hotel was across the street from an amazing street full of food vendors. We didn't partake because of timing but we walked through and it smelled and looked amazing!!
All in all we would highly recommend Clerk & Well Pub

Rooms are fine. However, there are A LOT of stairs and no elevator/lift. The stairs are steep. Fine for some, but not all guests. This should be disclosed. Check-in is in the bar, which was packed when we arrived.

The property had nice rooms, the stairs are a bit steep, but this is mentioned in the description.its also close to 2 tube stations.

The room was on the third floor, it was large, clean and really comfort. check in and out were really fast and friendly.
one bad thing, they forgot to clean the room on our last night and we had no one to talk with at 12am to ask for new towels, besides that we were quite happy with the stay.
This hotel looks and feels according to all of the existing reviews ;)

Hello we were very happy with the cleanliness and comfort of our room. However, there were a few issues. We did not have our coffee replenished and our drinking glasses were not washed and cleaned by the cleaning staff. The safe was already locked with door open and was unusable. We could not log into Netflix and could not find any instructions in the room how to do so. Lastly, there was no one available to assist call in each of these cases. Having someone more available by phone would have been helpful.

Great stay from top to bottom. Special thanks to all the staff, you were all fantastic

The room is very nice but there is no front desk. Even though I emailed them my estimated arrival time one day before, my wife and I were still waiting for someone to open the door and checked us in more than 10 minutes on the street. We did not know how to make a phone call to the number was provided on the window right next to the door since it is our first visit to London and we did not have local phone service, either. I would recommend this place if we did not experience that. Hopefully, they can do better job for their guest.

A really nice, comfortable hotel. We had a very quiet night and we felt really welcome.
No breakfast was available as the pub was still closed, but we found a lovely café just a couple of hundred yards away.

Perfect one night stay. Spacious room for central London area. Friendly staff.

Brilliant central hotel! Very cosy and stylish. great for local transport and food. Restaurant closed whilst we were there which was disappointing as it looked great but we will stay again and check it outZ

Good size and comfortable room. Nicely equipped. Large bathroom. Can’t be much better. Unfortunately there is no service provided. Breakfast staff friendly but unskilled. Glasses and cups dirty. Fingerprints everywhere. Tables dirty.
Spiderwebs all over the place.

Very well located stay in centre of Clerkenwell. Check in and process was very good despite lock down challenges. Thoughtful amenities in the room including water, coffee and tea. Decent room size.

I loved the room. The bed was comfortable and allowed me to get some great sleep! I loved the rainfall shower and could live in there! Staff was friendly and helpful! I didn’t like that there was no lift and the stairs were steep! Good exercise though! I wish the neighborhood had more food establishments! There were a lot of closed businesses.

We were going to the panto at the Palladium, so needed to drop our bag off prior to normal check in time, which was not a problem for them and they were very helpful. I was slightly worried about the rooms being above a pub, but the pub closed at 10.30pm on the night we were there, so we did not have to worry about any loud noise from below late at night. Room was really lovely - clean and spacious. There were a couple of extras that were great - for example a toothbrush and little toothpaste, we hadn't forgotten ours, but was a lovely gesture! Also, my husband loved having a mini bottle of milk in the mini bar for tea/coffee! Easy to get to and from Central London, we jumped on a bus right outside and then the ride took about 15/20 mins, so great location too. All in all a fantastic find.

It’s a nice place in a nice location and it’s great that it’s above a pub but also not loud.

I had an excellent experience a the Clerk and Well on my recent London visit. The hotel has 10 rooms above a lovely little old world London public house and restaurant. While they were buzzing with activity and atmosphere, the employees were prompt in greeting me and checking me in. I am currently recovering from an ankle injury, and the staff was very kind in helping me get my bags up the stairs to my room.
The entrance to the stairwell for the bedrooms has a separate street door, so you needn’t come through the pub when you get in. Clerkenwell is a somewhat busy thoroughfare, but the rooms building has clearly upgraded it’s insulation (this is supposedly one of the oldest public houses in London) because I did not notice any street noise at all in the room. The bedroom was beautiful decorated, as shown in the photos, without a comfortable, large bed; air-conditioning; a wall-mounted smart tv; and a mini-fridge. The windows have a sheer white blind, as well as tie-back blackout drapes if you prefer to sleep in a darker room.
The bathroom was spacious and well-appointed, particularly for a UK hotel. The fixtures have classic style to fit the hotel’s aesthetic, but the water pressure is excellent and with a precise temperature knob (I was on the third floor, so you can be sure of this).
The hotel management was very accommodating, from bringing up an ice bucket on request to allowing me to store luggage downstairs between my checkout and my train departure. On that note, the location is very good, with a short walk to transport all around central London, and a short ride from King’s Cross.
I was only there for a night, so I didn’t have a chance to try the restaurant, but the bar was a great place to drink and chat. Overall, a very positive experience. I will certainly make this a new go-to when visiting London in future!

We booked this property off of the great reviews and photos and they both remained true.
Keep in mind the stair climb, which did not bother us. But they are narrow. London is a very old city and many establishments we visited were the same.
Hospitality was top notch. Owners and staff were so friendly and helpful to assist us including tips on navigating about the city.
There are so many taverns/ pubs nearby to enjoy local cuisine however we did enjoy Clerk & Wells Asian offerings. We sampled appetizers on arriving which were very tasty. (Lamb and chicken skewers, spring rolls and miso soup). Perfect to tie us over after a long flight from the states.
Husband and I definitely want to revisit London. Normally we prefer to stay in new places only for the experience but I can say that I definitely would book here or perhaps one of their other 3 locations on return.
