Very good experience at an excellent hotel. Convenient for local shops, pubs and restaurants.
All staff were very professional and helpful.

Bit of a faded glory , not quite 4*.
Room small and dirty windows which spoiled the view. Bathroom had no ventilation , and lacked vanity mirror, shower cap, body lotion which is usual in 4*
Staff looked professional but fell a bit short.
The really disappointing bit was on the day we stayed no lunchtime bar snacks available, because they had been very busy at the weekend!
Positives, location by the historic castle and short walk to town, and that we could park the car there.

The accomodation was fine. However they take £200 deposit not the £50 stated on the booking website. This can take up to 24 days to get back
The invoice that came was so confusing it looked like they were charging £134 for minibar. They did charge £3 for pringles which we didnt have. Not a good experience.

I have been to Newcastle repeatedly on business over the last 10 years.
I booked because they have their own parking just like the Meilia. Where are usually stay down the road After checking in at the Meilia, you are assigned a carpark space number and you keep that for the duration of the Stay unable to come and go as you please At the Vermont you arrive and it’s first come first serve and they do not reserve. Fair enough if all the staff are saying and doing the same things ..but they don’t. Staff are almost argumentative on every request or any comment you make. Always quick to fire back with a quick sharp answer.
Bed was incredibly uncomfortable. Rooms are dated. It is an older building however could perhaps afd that luxury by adding for example slippers, Toiletr. the sink was blocked and every time I tried to wash my face it filled up. The toilet would not flush fully the elevators were out of order.
There was a noisy event on the rooftop and when I raisws this with reception I simply asked what time it was scheduled to finish nobody could answer this. I was told that general manager had gone home and the reception desk were very busy Agreed to call back, but they didn’t! In the morning both elevators are out of order , breakfast croissants helpful if you wanted to use it to knock a door
I’m sure the hotel will come to say this should have been walked to the duty managers attention it was but he’s not approachable!

Ridiculous check in/out procedure. Insisting on taking £50 on a bank card. I dont ever carry physical cards!!
The beds were as hard as stone. The mattress is the most important part of a hotel.
Having to queue for 15 mins just to check out is so outdated. Use a key deposit box like every other hotel

This stay was by far one of the worst experiences I have had in any hotel, and I stay in Hotels 1-2 nights per week on average, and have done for 6 years for work.
I have never felt more unwelcome in any place globally, the staff were rude to a level of almost disbelief, the room was dated, bathroom mouldy, amenities unusable, this hotel gets good ratings, but I assume it’s for the rooftop bar and not for residence.
I never once complained, as the staff was so rude, spoke to me and my wife like we were nothing, I knew it wouldn’t get me anywhere.
Not that it will make a difference to them, but I will never stay in this hotel again and have already added it to the block list for our 750+ employees so they can also avoid being spoken to and treated the way we were

The hotel looked amazing from the outside, the staff were very friendly and helpful. However once we got to our room it was very tired, lacking air conditioning and the level of item I would expect in a hotel room of this level.
At night on both nights of my stay music from the rooftop bar kept us awake until late. Generally disappointing would not stay again.
Offered so much…

The check in was painfully slow - receptionist wanted a lot of unnecessary details so ended up waiting for about 15 minutes while she checked three of us in. Also music was quite loud so she couldn’t hear us.

For a family with twins at 19 months and a three year old, it was perfect! Thank you so much for a lovely stay. We will be back again as we have previously stayed before and that’s why we came back again.
