I thoroughly enjoyed my entire stay at the Hotel Monaco. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, the room was spacious and well appointed and I LOVED the toiletries provided. Would absolutely recommend!

I typically try to book a stay at a Kimpton in whichever city I travel to. I always enjoy the dog friendliness, the staff, happy hours, and rooms.
Unfortunately this particular stay, the room was quite disappointing. It was very small and extremely dark.
However, I will continue to be a loyal customer.

This is not a quality hotel. The lobby smells like cheap men’s cologne. Our room smelled like a stale ashtray even though we booked a NON smoking room. Hotel staff offered more air freshener when we complained. Really, how about a clean, non smelly room? Sheets were not changed during our four day stay. We were told they only had one housekeeper and it would be awhile to clean the room after we complained. Wi-Fi was unusable. Charged a “spa” fee for what exactly??? The gallons of air freshener they use in the lobby? 16th street is under construction for the next year or two. The last Kimpton hotel I stayed at was nice, this was not. I guess this brand has gone downhill. Not worth what we paid at all. The only good part was the cow in the lobby.

Check-in was at 3 and our room was not ready until 5. If I am paying for a room from 3pm to 12pm, I expect to have the room. That was 2 hours of a room we paid for with no access to.

The room and bathroom were spacious. The two times I texted the front desk for extra towels, we received them quickly.

The staff was great, very responsive! Our first room had a loud banging with the AC unit so we requested to move rooms. Second room had a very slow draining sink and when the hair dryer was used blew the fuse for the entire room. Also loud trash emptying from building next door starting at 5 am, emptied twice that same morning.
Overall the place was clean and well decorated, staff helped where they could and was very nice to interact with. Just disappointed we got the two rooms that had problems.

The property was nice but there was a lot of issues with the staffing. We arrived at 2:45pm for a 3:00pm check in. We were told that because of a staffing issue they had to send the linens out to the laundry and weren’t expecting them back until 4:00pm. We were going to a concert and the bus was picking us up at 4:15 and had to get ready in the lobby bathroom along with a bunch of other people. Our luggage was stored and we went to the concert. I received a message at 5:30pm that the room was ready while we were at the concert. E arrived back at the hotel around 1:00am where there was a line of people who were not able to check in before because of the same issue and had to wait. Then they could not locate the key to the luggage room. It was a disaster with everyone upset. They called a supervisor and after some time they arrived and continued searching for the key. Around 2:45am they finally located it and let everyone get their luggage without even checking the bag tags mind you so it was a free for all. I work in the industry and this should not have been an issue. They should have had attic stock sheets and should have been prepared for a busy concert evening since they are the shuttle host hotel.

When the supervisor arrived, she was also unable to locate the key. We waited almost 2 hours. It’s now 2:15 am and we are finally able to access our bags.

The location is nice for downtown activities, the rooms are very big, pet friendly, good beds and bedding, and enough towels and washcloths.it is not a service centric hotel so don’t expect that next level of amenities.It felt a bit like a discount hotel but you pay for a higher end hotel. Plus expensive parking fees.

We reported it to the front desk three separate times and each time they told us it was “taken care of”. I guess we have different definitions of “taken care of.” We also had a dining credit for our room that no one explained to us how it was supposed to be used. So we spent way too much money on food than we would’ve otherwise. Overall it was a “fine” experience. The lady who was vacuuming the lobby was super super nice! They give you a plant for your room which is super cute. When you book this property, come to Denver with your patience and you’ll be fine.
