The staff was very kind. I left my earrings and called the hotel after check-out. He went to my room and found them.
I went back to the hotel and got them!

Only accessible by Bus otherwise enjoy a nice long walk from Kyoto Station. The facilities isn’t that well maintain, I was check into a room with a hole in the wall and a closet that looks like it’s door had been removed.

I canceled my reservation upon arrival. This place is filthy, it smells ans beds are out dated, uncomfortable beds. Horrible.

Hotel was really old, location was ok near bus stops. Room was dirty, I was really uncomfortable all night. I found old socks under the bed and the bidet in the bathroom had black mold in it. Bathroom had this smell in it also. I had to cancel the remainder of our stay.

Very good hotel. The room has its own refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle. They only clean up the room if you leave the sign outside. The Kyoto station is 2 Km away but there are beautiful temples and parks that make it stimulating to walk your way to the station.

We only stayed one night in this hotel for leisure. The hotel is not in a good location for going around major tourism spots. Kyoto's bus direction is confusing and we wasted a lot of time in transport. I would rather stay close to Kyoto station next time.

Rooms have no telephone hence you are cut out completely. The staff at reception does not speak English, hence non-Japanese beware. The staff have no idea about reservations to airport hence you have to make your own reservations. The inroom massages advertised so well cost 11,000 yen which is prohibitively expensive and overpriced for anybody.

The hotel was being renovated while I was there, so the condition wasn't great in some parts of the hotel, but I'm sure that is temporary. The staff were very helpful and the location is good. It's a 5 minute walk to Tambaguchi station and a 20 minute walk to Kyoto station where the shinkansen can be boarded. There is free wifi which is great. My only disappointments were the bed needed to be replaced and the wifi was not very good. Very spotty connection that often would hang for up to a minute several times an hour. If you need wifi to do work in the hotel, then you'll be frustrated. I would stay here again though and recommend it to others on a budget, so the good outweighed the bad.

Fine for a short business stay, but can't recommend it too much for family vacation. They didn't have non-smoking rooms for us, so we stayed in the smoking rooms. Bathrooms are small; even by Japanese standards. There's a microwave in each room, but one of the rooms we had had a very noise AC unit. The location of the hotel is ok; there's only 3 parking spaces, so don't expect to park there for free as advertised. The wifi is slow, but manageable. The beds were mediocre at best. So ok, but not above average.

I had a great experience at this Comfort Inn and am baffled by all the reviewers complaining about the location. It is a safe fifteen-minute walk from Kyoto Station, a huge transportation hub, and a bus bound for the station stops across the street every ten minutes. There are also several temples, shrines, and museums in walking distance. The rooms are nothing extravagant but they're secure, clean, and comfortable. The staff checked me in speedily upon arrival and were helpful, warm, and spoke good conversational English. They also sell day passes for the bus, which was very convenient, and provide a fresh, tasty, and diverse breakfast buffet that offers both authentic Japanese fare and western staples. If I returned to Kyoto with twice the budget I had on this trip, I would probably still book the Comfort Inn Kyoto Gojo!

If you're like me, and are less concerned about bells and whistles at your hotel, and just looking for a relatively nice, inexpensive place to lay your head at night (because you won't be spending much time there anyway), then this is a good hotel for you. The #9 bus from Kyoto station will take you almost directly there (then about a 5 min. walk down the street). The subway is quite a walk, especially if you have luggage. There are several bus stops in the area that will take you anywhere you need to go. Pick up a bus map at Kyoto station. The hotel sells daily bus passes which is a nice convenience. The hotel seems older and in need of renovations, but was clean. The rooms are small, which is to be expected in Japan. The bed and pillow were hard. They have a washer & dryer that I was able to use. It was a little expensive and the clothes weren't even close to dry after an hour. The hotel offers free wi-fi on all floors and free breakfast, both a bonus in Japan. The breakfast was very good & it was nice not to have that expense given the cost of meals in Japan. The staff was very pleasant & helpful. Overall, this hotel offered everything I was looking for: inexpensive, decent location, free food & wi-fi and a clean room to lay my head at night.
