Great location, friendly staff and comfortable, clean rooms make this an ideal place to stay in DC. Breakfast is delicious and nice touches like a complementary wine happy hour bring more value to the stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this Kimpton (Banneker) in DC! This pet-friendly boutique hotel was quite good. The hotel is on a busy street, which was fine for us as our room was pretty peaceful. We found parking convenient w/ valet parking, with minimal wait times each time we used it.
Our studio suite was spacious, quiet, and felt incredibly private—a perfect retreat after exploring the busy city. The room was well-appointed and the bed was comfortable, though we found the room a bit warmer than the stated temperature and kept it at 68°F overnight. As for the water pressure, it was perfect for us, with the option to adjust via a little lever if you prefer less.
The staff were fantastic—always accommodating and quick to fulfill any requests we had for housekeeping items.
We didn’t eat at the restaurant for dinner but breakfast was delicious, and the staff made sure our stay was enjoyable.
We recommend this hotel, particularly if you’re traveling with pets. Great service, spacious accommodations, and a thoughtful pet-friendly approach made this a fantastic experience!

So many small inconveniences that added up. Just a lot of little frustrations that a hotel in this price range shouldn't have had (No coffee or anything to drink in the room, a bed lightthat wad horrible and an end table that was wsy too small, curtains that only covered half of the window, no information and had to struggle to find ice... the list goes on.)

The staff was so friendly! Especially Meredith and Ricardo! We felt so comfortable with Meredith, we told her she was part of the family!
The food was fantastic! We had the steak and the Crispy Chicken.

I booked this hotel for team members attending a conference. Upon their arrival, one of the team members called to inform me that the front desk staff had notified them that the AC was not working. Given the circumstances, they were offered a full refund if they chose not to stay. Since it was the middle of summer and uncomfortably hot, we decided to cancel. The team member was assured that the hotel would handle the cancellation.
Weeks later, while reconciling our corporate card, I noticed that no refund had been issued. I contacted the hotel to clarify the situation but was redirected to Expedia. While discussing future bookings was irrelevant at that moment, I did reach out to Expedia. Their representative was helpful but informed me they had no record of the cancellation. After contacting the hotel, I was shocked to hear that the hotel denied any issues with their AC system during the dates of the stay and refused the refund.
I understand that Expedia’s options are limited, but I am deeply disappointed by the hotel’s handling of this situation. I trust my team members, and as one of them remarked, "I would certainly not call our director just to make up a story and move from a 4-star to a 3-star hotel."
To further validate our experience, I found reviews from other guests who also reported AC issues and poor service from hotel staff around the same time. While the hotel itself appeared beautiful, I cannot rate it on anything other than the poor service.

The beds were very comfortable. Our room fronted on 16th street and even on 9th floor the traffic noise was noticeable. The lighting in the room is “ boutiquey” and didn’t always provide sufficient light to see. Large counter/desk was great space for our makeshift food prep area (breakfast) but mini fridge is small and there was no microwave.

The room was fantastic, I had a great view and the restaurant was phenomenal. Best cassoulet I’ve ever had! My only problem was the parking situation. It was convenient that they had parking, but it was a lot more expensive than I was told. I was told it would be $55 a night, so I was expecting a $165 bill. After tax and fees the total was $281, so I felt like that number was disingenuous. Plus add tips for valet, so I spent $321 for three days. I haven’t done the research to know if that’s a good price for the area, but I didn’t like that they weren’t up front about that and I got a surprise on my credit card after I left.

I booked the property because of the roof top deck. However the roof was closed the entire weekend because they had booked private events.
Also the night manager was a jerk.

You won't be able to meet the location, but this was a phenomenal stay. I will admit there could be much improvement on not blocking the elevators for an hour with housekeeping carts while people are trying to get to meetings, but overall, it was the most comfortable that I have ever slept in with the softest bedding, a beautiful setting and a really great stay.

The AC in the entire building was broken so my room was 80 degrees windows facing the sun making my room much hotter than what the weather was outside.

The service and accommodations felt like staying in a 5 star hotel but at an affordable price. There was nothing the staff wasn’t willing to do to make our stay enjoyable. The best hotel experience we have ever had.
