Hermitage Bay was exactly what we wanted—quiet, intimate, and beautiful. The porches on the rooms are fabulous, as are the views. The staff was incredibly friendly and remembered our names even the first day. We were well taken care of and were able to fully relax for the first time in a long time. We will be back.

One of the biggest draws to this property is there are no children. It is couples only. Therefore, peace and calm surround you. Of course, you will have to put up with the screaming children on the plane ride to and from the island unless you fly private. Also, for boat charters, this is a convenient location. For both of these reasons, this resort beats Jumby Bay. Jumby Bay actually tries to attract families with childrens' programs and, boats won't go all the way to Jumby Bay for charters because its just too far.
We never expect the worlds best service in the Caribbean. Let's face it, it's the Caribbean, not Europe. But, we were surprised at this resort at the real desire to please, which we seldom encounter in the Caribbean. Of course, there were minor incidents like bringing items at meals that were not ordered instead of ordered items, then getting 3 different stories about why. Room bars are restocked daily with everything you request: you fill out a request sheet every morning at breakfast asking for liquors, juices, etc to be put into your fridge that day. Facilities were beautiful. The beach and restaurant were never crowded, even at full resort capacity. There were always available beach beds and umbrellas: no mad rush at 7am to get a place on the beach like at many of the rat race resorts. If you want privacy get a hillside bungalow.

We loved our visit to Hermitage Bay. The hotel is perfect for couples looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway. The hotel's small size ensures that you can truly relax in a beautiful and lush setting. Unlike larger resorts, you don't have to fight for lounge chairs or prime reservations for dinner. Everything is very relaxd, and the staff is incredibly attentive making sure that you have the perfect, stress-free stay.
The accomodations are comfortable and quite spacious. Having a beachfront villa enables you to be just a stones throw from the water. The hillside villas are slightly further from the water but have spectacular views with plunge pools that are perfect for the afternoon sun. They are all done in gorgeous dark wood with a very natural feel to them.
The food at the hotel was quite good for the Carribbean and certainly plentiful. There were lots of interesting options at all meals.
The only downside of the hotel is that the beach has a lot of shells on it. The water is gorgeous (calm and warm), but you don't have the soft sand that you find at some other resorts. Otherwise, it's a beautiful and quiet private beach that is perfect for relaxing, paddle boaridng, or swimming.

Absolutely beautiful hotel! Service was impeccable and the villas were very clean. Food is excellent as well but the evenings are very quiet at this hotel. Opt for the hillside villa for the plunge pool and stunning views! Only real complaint was getting used to the loud birds that would start just before sunrise...you're definitely immersed in nature here!

Beautiful location, excellent staff, good food and drinks, just a great way to relax and enjoy life. There really isn't much more to do here than relax, but maybe that's not a bad thing

We've stayed at some more expensive resorts in the Caribbean like Caneel Bay and Little Dix Bay, but none matched the service or room/view for Hermitage Bay.
We paid extra for a room high up on the hill and it was worth every penny. The walk isn't quick, but you need to burn the calories from all of the great food and drink somehow!

My husband and I just returned from 5 days at Hermitage Bay. We have taken a number of beach vacations over the years, and this was, quite simply, the best ever. Best food, accommodations, staff, setting. Our only regret was that high winds made the snorkeling less than ideal (also, apparently, there are fewer fish around in December.) But we could not recommend this resort more highly.

When I go on vacation, I want to sit and relax in peace. Hermitage Bay gave me the opportunity to do this without any expectations.

Absolutely the best, most relaxing place we have ever stayed. The hotel is not all marble and glitz, but that's what makes it perfect. There are no loud casinos or nightclubs, just the sound of the waves, possibly some nice live music during dinner. The food is the best we have ever had, and that includes staying at some of the highest rated hotels is the world. Pure ingredients, most from their own garden. Employees are friendly and helpful. The beach is private and beautiful. No children was a welcomed surprise to me as I have, and love, children but htis is totally a couples getaway. In fact, we did not see any couples who went together or ate together- simply a getaway for a couple, alone, to recharge their batteries. The all-inclusive was great, and the liquers at the restaurant and in the mini-fridges in each room were stocked with very nice, labeled liquer. Can't say enough about this place. The only advise I would give is that the hillside places are a hike up some pretty rough steps, so if you are older or not good at uphill climbs, take the beach cottages (but hte view of the island from the hillside cottages was unbelievable)...Great place!
