Only a few blocks from centro, I'm glad I stayed here. The room could be a little cold at times, but there were thick blankets so I didn't mind. There are cheaper options as far as hostels go, but I enjoyed my stay here.

Bedsheets smelled awful this is usually fine for a hostel but during Covid i think it's important to keep sheets changed

Very nice and cheap. A typical backpacker hostel with cool people in a central location with a protected parking area for the car.
The staff speaks very good English and helped us with organisation.

Overall, I was disappointed with this hostel. I probably wouldn't stay here again.
Pros:
- very social, great place to meet people. Nightly bonfire.
- fast internet
- free breakfast (simple, but does the job)
- kitchen facilities
- lots of social areas within the hostel
- great tours (cheapest place to do a Palenque tour/shuttle in town!)
- generally quite cheap
- location is probably 10 mins from the centre of town
Cons:
Basically, I was disappointed with the lodging. We took a private room as it was relatively cheap and good value.
- bed linen was dirty - hairs, random pieces of dirt and what looked like dead skin. Not pleasant to have to use sleeping bags in a private room.
- bathrooms appear to be cleaned around once a day (generally around midday) - this means that in the evenings and mornings the toilets are near filthy, the bins are overflowing and its smelly. There are only 4-5 toilets for the whole hostel (it is quite large)
- the private rooms are in the attic, this means you can't really stand in the room and constantly have to duck. Walls are paper thin, and it sits right on top of the reception. This means every doorbell throughout the evening is heard (and the accompanying dog barks).
Perhaps I like things a little nicer, but I don't see why a good social hostel means that basic standards shouldn't be adhered to. The staff were fine. Some very helpful, others a bit stand-offish.

Enjoyed my stay at Rosscos. The dorm room was cool and dark, and met some great people there. Good places to hang out in too.
