The junior suite has an amazing lake view, comfortable bed (best of the 4 hotels we stayed at in Italy), large spa tub, and is very spacious.
The property is beautiful and well maintained and truly takes you out of the city. There’s an awesome terrace on the roof with a comfortable hot tub.
The breakfast buffet is also very expansive and there were some great dinner options too. The restaurant also overlooks the lake.
My only recommendation for those considering to stay here are ensuring you have reliable transportation (e.g, renting a car). With the hotel’s somewhat remote location, it would not be reasonable to walk there from the nearest bus stop with luggage and there is not an abundance of taxis. The taxis available cost 20 euros each way. We walked from the hotel to the town two days and found the downhill hikes a bit challenging (40 minutes) due to how steep the hills are.

As a frequent traveler, the room that we had looked relatively modern. They offer a pretty decent variety for breakfast. They offer rubber flip flops too for the pool 🏊. Service was just ok. Didnt really feel welcomed by some of the staff there compared to other hotels that I've been to in Italy. Anyway, a-ok hotel but just to give you guys a head's up its located up on top of the mountain. Either you can walk up and down this mountain 50 minutes each or someone has to be a designated driver. And as a couple, only one of you can have a glass of wine with dinner.

Imvho this hotel is perfect...the cleaning staff thoroughly main and clear the room daily, the breakfast has everything needed and the evening meal is very Italian in as much as it lasts 2 hours and four courses plus the salad bar..the drink too are very reasonably priced.. There is a bus that takes you down to Malcescine at a cost of €1.20 or you can walk down takes 20 minutes, be aware it does not run to a full timetable on Sunday or public holidays, otherwise the taxi is €14...we have booked again for 2019

The welcome we received at Val di Monte was lovely. Fabiana greeted us individually and offered us a complimentary refreshment each. We ate in the restaurant that evening and the food was fair. Dina, our server, was incredibly hospitable our whole stay. I was however a little disappointed with a few things. I felt the hotel could have done a little more:
1) follow up our taxi reservation ahead of our arrival. We weren't late to the wedding, but the attitude was a bit too laidback.
2) There seemed to be a lot of pandering to other guests (which were seemingly all German). Michele was cool. It wasn't that the service was bad. It just wasn't very personal--perhaps some upset about Brexit ;)
3) The breakfast choice was the same every day, which became boring after three.
4) Hotels.com also failed to amend one of our reserved rooms before the deadline and while I understood the hotel's position, I felt they were doing very little to compromise.
5) My parents had the executive room which is in the new extension. It was a lot more modern, but heavy rains seemed to affect the ceiling. The balcony was also much smaller than my (cheaper) room.
6) Though the hotel is not responsible for the unusually inclement weather, it highlighted the lack of comfy seating areas for sitting to read quietly.
7) There was no fridge, or tea or coffee facilities in the bedrooms.
The area was absolutely beautiful, but if I were to return, I wouldn't go back to the Val di Monte.

We stayed here last week and had a wonderful time. The Hotel that is run by a lovely family sits nestled on the side of the mountain. The grounds were very clean and tidy and the pool is brilliant with plenty of sun loungers. The Lombardi family and their staff were very kind and worked incredibly hard to make the guests feel at home and have a wonderful holiday. The food was excellent with plenty of choice. The room was extremely clean and tidy ours had a partial view of the lake below.
To get to the hotel there is a steep hill with several hairpin bends which require some negotiating. You can walk down to the town (quite a long walk) and there is a bus service which runs from the bus station in the centre of the town stopping at several hotels en route.
There is a partner hotel in the main town and guests can use the car park there free although space limited in high season.
