Not sure whether we were given a bad room because some of it was paid for with Tesco vouchers, but we were given the worst room in terms of noise. We were in the first room after the lifts and all we could hear was the lifts going up and down until quite late at night and then early in the morning.
Noisiest bed ever! Not sure if it was the bed frame or the mattress but every time one of us turned over it was so loud it woke us up. Not the most comfortable bed either.
The facilities are all good in the room and I have no complaints and it was clean.
The reception staff were not very friendly and could barely raise a smile when checking in and out. We have stayed here 3 times before and this seems to be a common problem with their front of house staff on reception as I don't think they were that friendly on previous visits either (different staff members).

I had booked and paid a premium for a room with a view of the cricket pitch. When I checked in at 10:30pm I was allocated my room (not told at check in this was not the room I had booked).
When I finally got to the room allocated I found it was overlooking the car park not the Lancashire Cricket Stadium and pitch.
I then returned to reception to highlight the problem. They were apologetic but had not pitch view rooms available. But they would see what they could do. I retired to the bar for a beer. After about 20 mins the receptionist came to say they could only offer me a ‘twin room’. Which was not what I wanted so declined. He said the receptionist in the morning would be able to sort a refund on the lower standard room i was allocated.
Apparently because I had booked with a 3rd Party (hotels.com) there own IHG bookings took preference for allocation of rooms.
I subsequently found out from another conference delegate that they had booked a standard room but were allocated a pitch view room when they had checked in earlier in the day.
On checkout I raised the issue with the receptionist they had no understanding about the room issue, and that because I had booked through a 3rd party operator that I would need to claim a refund from you, hence this lengthy response.

Very rude staff. The receptionist was very rude when we arrived. She told us to hold on 1min we she just stood there clicking on the computer. After she asked “what do we need?” We wanted an extra key card to access to our room which they also got wrong. She was very rude about it. Further to this, we tried the room service and they hanged up on us twice after telling us they will transfers us. Wouldn’t recommend!

A good place to stay as usual for a Man United home game. The new wing is excellent but staff communication at reception poor not pointing out our room 576 was not on the fifth floor of the existing hotel but in the extension and then not pointing out breakfast was in the extension and not the bar area where it’s always been. Otherwise a good stay

Arrived late and did not get the opportunity to explore the hotel.
Reception team were professional and processed swiftly. Follow up text if the room was all in order.
Room was fine, appeared quite for the time I was there.
Large hotel, with adequate parking and not crammed into small bays with no room to open doors and get luggage out. Thanks
Barrier controlled parking, take your ticket with you get it validated before you leave.
Check access point to parking as not clear until you know where you are going.
Breakfast was fine, a standard buffet breakfast.
I did not try the restaurant but note there is a standard 12.5% service charge which is added.
I hate this practice which is growing and should be removed and left to be placed at the customers discretion! Not bullied in to it !
You pay enough for the hotel and food should have to add additional costs.

Hotel didn’t tell us that we wouldn’t be able to leave by car until after a half marathon finished - sat around for hours wasted a full day will not be going back

Incredible stay I had a room with an incredible view of the cricket ground and a balcony to sit out on. The room was spacious and well lit and the tv had the sky sports channels.

A good and convenient hotel.
I thought the showers were disappointing
- not overhead, and also the maximum hot water heat was not high enough.

The room is spacious, quiet and reasonably clean, save for that there are some slightly dirty markings on the walls and ceiling, and the shower tray has worn out marks.

Long walk from reception to the room in the new building
Unable to get normal tv, BBC / ITV and no one available to fix it
Apart from this the room was clean and comfortable and very good breakfast choice

Stayed one night and were pleasantly surprised to be staying AT the cricket stadium. We were in a newer part of the complex, which has a restaurant, but we went down to the main restaurant/bar area and had a great conversation with the bar manager. Everyone was super nice, would definitely stay again.

Stayed as we were here for the England v Australia cricket game - cancelled due to rain-. Hotel check in was easy and we had our room by 2:30pm. Bar area was nice, didn't eat any food but it looked like passing by us. Room clean, bathroom nice with free toiletries, kettle in room and no problem getting extra t-bags from the bar staff. Breakfast very good, the usual cereal etc, then a hot buffet spread, then pastries, croissants etc.

Nice hotel, clean and reception staff friendly. Disappointing breakfast service on one of the days. Long wait for hot food from the hot plate buffet, long wait for the 1 working coffee machine. Kitchen staff complaining about having to make more food.

Nice venue with main corridor and edge restaurant overlooking cricket ground.
Advertise bathrobes in the king room but don’t supply them. Not a major issue however if my wife had known she would have taken her own!
