It was nice with two floors. Nonetheless the toilet and the bath were on different floors, will be a good exercise to go up and down between toilet and bath/ bedroom. Overall very happy. The host was amazing.

Not to mention Mr.TAGA ,the host, is so nice. he offered everything we would need . he was warm and hospitable .

Easy walking distance to the old town across the river. Plenty of space for a family with two teenagers.

We loved this property. You don't really need to look any further if you are staying Takayama. Being an old shopfront it was quite unique and offered a different experience to regular hotels. Host Taga knows exactly what international guests are looking for. It was very spacious and had everything we needed. The kids (8 and 3) loved watching movies via the projector. With sleeping and a separate lounge upstairs pretty much have two living areas in this place. When booking we had concern that the stairs may be too dangerous for out three year old, however Taga has a baby gate on hand. Taga was a great host picking us up and dropping us off at the train station, supplying us with fresh bread and drinks in the fridge and also helping us plan our stay. Just book it.

Tag is a perfect host. The suite is in the perfect location, very close walk to everything.
The drinks and warm bread on a rival was wonderful. Pickup and drop off at the train station. Was definitely our favourite place to stay on our trip.
I had read about the steep stairs and yes, they are steep. I had my 16 yr old son carry up my suitcase but could have left it on the lower level and just brought up a couple outfits instead. Wasn’t really a problem.
Thank you!

Anchor Site was a great experience. I communicated with the host multiple times before arrival and he was very responsive and helpful. He was kind enough to pick us up and drop us off at the station. Anchor Site is a beautiful townhome in the center of Takayama within a 5-10 minute walk to the most popular areas in town. The place was very clean and it provided very thoughtful items, such as umbrellas, indoor slippers and even free beverages. The kitchen had a coffee machine, fridge, toaster, microwave, and dinnerware. There were tvs in the living room downstairs and in the bedroom sitting area upstairs. The place is very comfortable and spacious. We would go back and definitely recommend it.

We were travelling as a family of 3 and loved this spacious, comfortable, quiet character apartment in the heart of Takayama. Very clean and stylish. The host was top notch and responsive, we loved the fresh bread and station pickup.
There is a tiny kitchen area with fridge, coffee maker, microwave and toaster (no hot plate).
Do be aware the stairs to the sleeping level are very steep and not suitable for small children or anyone with mobility issues. Also toilet only on ground floor so hard to navigate at night!
We had a great stay and highly recommend.

The hospitality shown was fantastic. We were treated so kindly by the host who also gave us tips for things to do in the local area. The location was ideal for exploring Takayama. We also liked the beautiful decor which was modern industrial in style.

The owner, Mr. Taga, was really prompt in his responses and made us feel really welcomed. He picked us up and dropped us off at Takayama train station. He also explained very carefully about everything in his apartment, how the appliances and heaters work, which restaurants to go, etc. There was a fresh bread loaf on the kitchen counter too - a very nice gesture. The location of Anchor Site is really convenient to walk to many restaurants, clothes shops, grocery stores, cafes. The only point to watch out for is the steep stairways to the futon beds on the second floor. While the bathroom is upstairs, the toilet is located downstairs.
I just want to mention this last bit - when the coffee machine didn’t work, Taga came within minutes to fix the problem. We truly appreciate such service and we definitely recommend you to stay at his artistically decorated apartment.

Host picked us up from Takayama Station upon arrival
The property has 2 levels with bedroom on upper floor. The only downside is we are unable to carry up our luggages as the steps can be steep. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The property is cozy and comfortable.

This place was amazing and perfect for our family of 4. Funky, modern, super clean, convenient and a fantastic owner who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. There were a range of free drinks for our use during our stay and fresh bread on arrival. The owner picked us up and dropped us off from the train station. This made it so easy, especially when it rained on departure. Bike rental was only half a block away. This was great as we got to see so much of takayama. The Main Street is 5 min walk. Also look for places to eat in behind streets, as we found some fantastic lanes to eat. We loved our stay and I highly recommend this place to anyone going to Takayama.

This was a wonderful place to stay. The owner Taga picked us up at the train station and walked us through this amazing appartment. The location was perfect for walking to the sites and restaurants and quite at night.
The living space was spacious, well decorated with beautiful modern furnishings and the cleanest place I have ever stayed in. There was freshly baked bread that was left for us. There was a coffee maker with fresh beans which was a real treat in the morning. I highly recommend this property. It has been the best stay we have had in all of Japan.

Anchor site is a really lovely apartment in the center of Takayama. The host was really nice and he picked us up at the train station and as well drove us back after the stay. Location is literally in the center of city and in walking distance to shops and sights. Worked very well for a family of five.

My wife and I stayed at Anchor Site for three nights and had a great time. The property is located centrally but out of the busy tourist area so nice and quiet. In addition the property was incredibly spacious and suited our needs perfectly, the large entry was ideal for storing our bicycles. Our host was such a generous and helpful person, I'd certainly stay there again if in Takayama.
