Horrible room service. Elizabeth had a hard time understanding that I only wanted fish and chips. Not hard but she made it so complicated. I had to leave my room and order downstairs.

Nice stay at EKA, nice massage and good food. The room was comfortable and reception kindly moved me to a room with a pool view which is quieter and also not looking at a wall of the neighbouring building.

Great stay. They greet you upon arrival, our guide works with the staff to get us checked in. The bellman is very efficient in getting your bags to you. Nice garden area to enjoy drinks. Checkout was easy and bags are taken to your vehicle.

We did not receive our Expedia VIP upgrade. This hotel would not accomodate a family of 4 even though 2 double beds was requested on booking. We had to get a second room. When we were told we would need to get a second room the house quoted us $40 more for the room than we got through Expedia, so we booked through Expedia while waiting in the lobby. We were charge full price for our kids that were under age for breakfast. I found the staff the least friendly of all the hotels we stayed at in Nairobi.

Property was clean and staff were generally very nice-- all very likable people. We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of our trip and 1 night at the end.
On both stays, in 2 separate rooms, the A/C didn't work. With the thermostat set at 16 C, the room only cooled from 26 C to 25 C by the morning. Maintenance did come on our first stay, but we didn't bother asking on our last night.
When we arrived at breakfast at our first stay, they had some confusion and told us that it was included with our reservation. The night before checkout, they called us at 11:30 pm in our room to tell us that we owed them $96 for 2 days of breakfast. Had we known that would have been the cost, we may have made other meal arrangements (ordered a la carte, for example.) At least we would have had the choice, though. The lack of communication and clarity cost us more money than we anticipated. Plus, it didn't help that they called us in our room and woke us up from a deep sleep to discuss this matter, thereby making it hard to fall back asleep.
A few tips:
1. add breakfast to your Expedia reservation. I was able to do that on my 2nd reservation for only $4 (vs. the $48 they surprised us with at the hotel.) There are not any convenient and good breakfast spots nearby, so this will be most convenient.
2. If you're traveling to other parts of Kenya, do your laundry elsewhere. Eka charged 2-3x more than all the other hotels we stayed in for laundry.

The rooms are top notch - very palatial. The pool is nice but it's only open til 6pm. It certainly should stay open later. I had a great massage at the spa for a very reasonable price. The gift shop is really good with unique quality gifts. The bar and restaurant have great selection. The breads at breakfast were stale and I did not like the breakfast selection.
