Sylvan was beautiful. We stayed in a villa and it was everything and more. The views, althoigh slightly obscured by trees, were wonderful. But the highlight for us were the staff. Eponine in the main restaurant was a joy, she brightened our days and made us feel so welcome. The beautiful person at the egg station, who greeted us every day with the biggest smile, was just wonderful.
Weve been to Thailand a few times, and Koh Chang is now a firm favourite, in so small part down to pur wonderful stay at Sylvan

The Sylvan is an outstanding property and the staff is second to none. The buildings are of traditional Thai architecture, with the most interesting landscape built in the side of a small mountain that spills into the ocean. The room was super clean and modern with a sliding door onto a balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. We didn’t miss a day of the buffet breakfast that was plentiful with fresh fruits, omelet/egg station, and home made breads and pastries. Of course Thai food and rice was available too.

We enjoyed our first time here and decided to return for another short stay. The views and beach remain beautiful, even during the rainy season. I love this place. I'm excited to return again.

I spent 10 days there and in general I had a nice stay there. However, there is another hotel that belongs to the same area (Sea View) offering worse conditions. Make sure you book a room in your desired place

We had the most wonderful stay in the pool villa! Everything was perfect. The room with the interior and outside area was gorgeus and super comfortable. The whole resort is set at a great location at the beach and we really enjoyed the common areas and activities. Also the service was excellent.

We have really enjoyed our 2 week stay at Sylvan. Rooms were good and spacious and kept very clean. Only criticism is that the beds were very hard. We really appreciated free water bottles every day and clean beach towels. Staff were very friendly and happy to help. We loved the effortless way of getting around the resort with the buggies. Great pools to choose from and a lovely beach. One tip for the hotel is that maybe they should provide recycling for plastics bottles, cans etc. food was good as well although on the expensive side. Plenty of restaurants to choose from in town though and easy and cheap to get there by taxi. Can also recommend Lonely Beach. All in all we had a great holiday and would definitely recommend this hotel and location - beautiful! Great sunsets as well.

Was ok - a bit of a mission to get to different parts of the resort and the spa is massively overpriced - nice beach

Beautiful property with a venicular Railway from our room to the beach. Stunning views & nice private beach. The only downside is the hotel is isolated at a top of the hill. You can't walk to the local village as it's on a steep hill with no pavement. You can walk along the beach when the tide is out which is a novelty. Overall a lovely hotel.

Huge resort. You can walk everywhere, but it’s very hilly. Some of the paths are incredibly steep, and you have to be very careful in case it’s slippy, so definitely not suitable for everyone. The hotel has its own funicular, with 4 stops connecting the beach with the rooms and restaurant right at the top. This is a great help, but it’s SO slow and only holds 6 people.
Because it was off-season, one of the restaurants was closed for refurbishment, and the gym was closed for a couple of days whilst it was being decorated.
When the gym was open, it was excellent. All new equipment, and more than the average hotel gym.
There isn’t really a beach - the hotel has created a kind of fake beach instead. It looks ok, but it’s hard underfoot.
The food in the restaurant was excellent, both at breakfast and in the evening. Because it was so quiet, there was a smaller, more limited buffet on my first couple of mornings.
My room was a bit dated, but very clean and well maintained. It was nice to have a bath to relax in. Bed was very comfortable. Housekeeping was excellent. Not nearly enough power sockets, and the walls and ceiling were very thin.
It’s a 20-25 minute walk to both Kai Bae and Lonely Beach. They have a shuttle service three times a day to Kai Bae, but it’s only one way! And the last one is at 4pm.
Generally, I was very impressed, and felt I got great value for money. The staff were mostly lovely. The upkeep of such a big place is no mean feat.

Room seemed dated but in good shape. Stuffy noses both of us every night. Maybe dusty or Aircon needed a cleaning. Not nearly enough outlets for this day and age. Great staff throughout hotel. Great views, very laid back. Not impressed with the breakfast buffet and the Coffee machine coffee was really lousy. Spa was just ok. Beach bar cocktails were excellent. We liked our stay but plenty of room for improvement. Probably stay again but in the renovated section only. Really hope to see improvements in the areas We mentioned.

The resort is attractive with many things for families to do. The views are beautiful and the waters are clear and enjoyable to swim inside. The breakfast buffet is average and has a varied menu. The restaurant for lunch and dinner has a limited menu with some items not always being available. The resort is about a 30 minute drive from the ferry dock and when returning to the mainland on Sunday, leave early or late. We sat 2 hours in the sun and the car almost overheated because of traffic

Very steepy, family rooms didn't have any sound insulation, lots of kids sound from many rooms, if you looking for a quiet holiday, this isn't the place. The view is amazing though. Service could be improved.
