Wonderful place to stay a while, exploring Acadian national park. The house was comfortable, clean and well appointed. Will stay again.
2.0 / 5.0
The main issue was that the water would not stay hot or even warm, 95% of our showers were freezing cold. After discovering this I looked back at the reviews and this issue has been mentioned before and nothing has been done to fix this problem, it is not acceptable. This extremely frustrating and could potentially burn someone.
The master bed is extremely worn out and does not offer any support.
The entire house smells like mildew and should have dehumidifiers installed in the basement specifically.
The main floor bathroom smells faintly of skunk.
The thermostat in the kitchen would not change and must be stuck on 74° so it would get too hot in the house and there were zero instructions on using the mini split. We had rain during our visit so we didn’t feel comfortable leaving windows open.
They do not allow the cooking of shellfish in the house which is absurd. The house is on the coast of Maine, people will want to cook their catch or what they bought locally. Honestly if it is about the smell I would have welcomed the smell of seafood over the smell of mildew and mold.
Cobwebs and dog hair were also noticed and bugs in bathroom vent/light.
In the listing It says that this is an oceanfront property with a view and it is neither. Not only is there no access to the ocean there is no view. This is false advertising.
The property manager wants phone calls during business hours however there is no cellular service on much of the island.

The home was large, airy, and immaculate. Our family of 4 (two adults, two teens) were very comfortable in separate rooms. The bathrooms were clean and well taken care of. The common rooms were very comfortable for sitting together. The loft room was a little warm the first day (unusually warm temps) but we brought up a fan and my teen said he was fine. Be aware you are on a main road. It was quiet overnight, but there are cars early in the morning. We loved staying on this part of the island. Very close to everything we wanted to do in Acadia, but away from the busier bustle of Bar Harbor. Overall it was a very well appointed and thoughtfully taken care of home. We wanted to stay longer.

Once again my wife and I totally enjoyed our week at this beautiful home! Stayed for a week in June, loved it so much we came back. We will definitely be back again in June of 23. Can't wait!!!

This property worked beautifully for our group, open layout, but bedrooms are private enough that a crying infant didn’t wake up anyone. We cooked some wonderful meals together, and loved the deck. Lovely sunlight on sunny days.

House is so welcoming and interesting and while off the beaten path - we had the best meal locally! Everyday offered a level of hiking we were up for and on clear nights we were enchanted by many shooting stars observed from the deck.
The house is well equipped (kitchen, bathrooms, towels, linens) and architecturally, a lot of fun!

We had a very enjoyable stay. House is bright and we loved the open plan of the kitchen, dining area and living room. The deck is excellent but it was very hot in the sun (and we had three weeks of sunny days). Kitchen is well equipped and all appliances were in good order. We only used two bedrooms, the third one (in the lighthouse) had a great view but would have been hot and airless for sleeping however, the secondary living room with the futon could be used. There is also an office with desk.
Tim is an excellent host. All communications were answered within minutes.

The house had everything we needed for our stay. The 3rd bedroom (ladder steps) is in a slightly inconvenient location being so far away from the bathrooms along with no air vents or ceiling fan. The deck was great but there are a few screws sticking up which could be dangerous on bare feet. The fans were dirty. Overall, it was a comfortable quiet location with all the amenities. We had a great time.

Your a fool to pass this home up for your vacation!! Absolutely loved staying here! Will definitely stay again already saving up.

My husband and I like to visit Maine once a year with our dog & this year, we invited my brother & his best friend to join us on our adventure. We found this place and thought it would be perfect and we were right! The pictures do not lie - it looks like a real lighthouse and the inside has a lot of memorabilia and decor to keep in theme! It rained a lot during our stay so we spent a lot of time in the lighthouse but we still had a great time! We played board games at the table, vegged on the couch, read in the study and just enjoyed the views. The large window on the wall in the living room was really awesome, especially during the storms and the early hours of the morning. There's also a deck that we all (including the dog) hung out on when the weather permitted.
The kitchen was stocked with whatever pots, pans and utensils we needed (even a pizza cutter!!!!), which was great because we ended up cooking a lot. Everyone had their own space for sleeping and hanging out (my husband, dog & I had a loft to ourselves which had its own bathroom, my brother had his own room on the first floor & our friend slept in the upstairs lighthouse bedroom or on the pull out couch in the study) but we also had plenty of room in the living/dining area when we wanted to hang out together. It was very cozy but we never felt cramped.
The location is great - the house has grass around it which is great for those with dogs! Also, the house is only 30ish minutes from Acadia and Bar Harbor and there are also other hiking trails closer to the lighthouse.
Tim & Laurie were great hosts - very responsive and informative if we had any questions and gave clear check-in and check-out directions. When we arrived, they even had a basket of maps available of some of the surrounding sights worth visiting (which was a very nice touch!) The house was stocked with clean towels and any staples we could have needed. We had a wonderful stay at the lighthouse and would definitely visit here again.

The Lighthouse is a great place for family or a group of friends. It is on the quiet side of MDI so it does require a bit of driving to get to the main part of Acadia. But being away from the crowd has its pleasures. We found beautiful hikes that we had never explored before such as the magical West Ledge trail on Bernard Mountain. And the sky is so dark that one clear night we all went out and laid on the driveway looking at the Milky Way like we were in our own personal planetarium.
The house is built vertically like a lighthouse so the ability to go up and down stairs is a must for anyone who wants to enjoy their stay. However, the house is so worth the climb with great nautical décor and open space in the main cooking, dining and living area for the whole group to be together. There is a wonderful deck with a grill for outdoor gathering too. We also greatly appreciated having the garage space for our bikes and other gear.
Thank you Tim, we had a great time.

Thanks so much Tim & Laurie for your hospitality in The Lighthouse. Perfect size for our group of 6 adults and 1 toddler. The home was comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, and the views were wonderful. We had no problems during our stay and all of our questions prior to arrival were answered very quickly.
