I enjoyed my stay, I did go and purchase cleaning agents because I felt I needed it to be up to standards I felt comfortable with. I slept in a dormitory style room with three other people. I slept in the bottom bunk it was comfortable, for more privacy I had use a light blanket and a yard of cloth that I hung from the upper bunk that draped down to give me that barrier of privacy. The sheets , pillow and comforter were clean. I would say check your mattress, prior to sleeping in it not for bed bugs the mattress is bed bugs proof but the person who slept in it prior must of had their monthly. The room I slept in was decent the bathtub and shower are modernized, and the small balcony was a sweet feature, I could see the downtown Metro area, and in the mornings I used it for my daily breathing and meditation exercise. The kitchen and communal area was decent. I liked that they had a washing machine and drier, it made it convenient. There is a super market a block away and public transportation was accessible. I actually took it to the local beach called Playa Del Rey, 2 busses and a serious walk up a steep hill, but it was well worth it. I would definitely book another reservation again at Homestay, but for a longer stay. Is it the Holiday Inn, no! But I have stayed in much worst places. And Homestay is definitely not one of them. It is affordable and it is what you make of it:-)
